I really feel they cheaped a bit out on the Rice equipment...
 in  r/farmingsimulator  1d ago

I would definitely not call it niche, but it is like any other crop in that it can't be grown anywhere.

I am in Hawaii, but we have a farm in Arizona as well. We grow lettuce in Arizona, which may seem odd because it's a desert, but the Colorado river makes a big difference.

When I was a kid in Arkansas, we grew rice. Lots of natural rivers there that make it effective for rice.

Born and raised in Arkansas, moved away for college and sadly have never been back.

In the 80's we also grew rice, but I know when my dad sold the farm the new owner went into soybeans.

If you've ever complained about "politics" or "wokeness" in board games, congratulations, you won & killed our hobby.

I’d love to see some evidence of what you’re saying, not just what you feel is true.

Hilo Protest. Meant to take a nicer video walking past everyone but my face was already turning hot pink lol.

Why? Is he not doing exactly what he said he would do? That is what they voted for, so I’d expect them to be happy little larks.

We grow rice on our farm about 20 acres of it…and we use the exact equipment the game has for ours. In fact just bought a new harvester two years ago.

The nature of the mud you’re planting in makes it tricky to have larger equipment since it will sink. Harvesters as well, rice fields are very soft soil and heavier/larger equipment can have issues.

I have seen a few planters that have larger sapling bins, but in my experience you have to stop to reload the plant shoots anyway, so having the extra space for sprouts doesn’t really gain you much.

And a larger harvester would definitely get stuck in our fields, so even if there is one I wouldn’t want to try it.

Maybe long grain rice is more in line with what you’re looking for?

Sugar cane has less harvesters now than it used to, since there used to be a pull behind that is gone, and sugarcane has never been popular in game.

If rice is popular enough, I’d expect to see some variety of equipment added. Time will tell.

401 reliability rant
 in  r/svartpilen401  3d ago

I wasn’t saying you don’t take care of it. I was saying in general, and if the previous owner didn’t take care of it, how long can you go before things start to fall apart?

The damage is done, so to speak, and you’re just dealing with the consequences.

Many riders treat their bikes as toys, and they are rough on them. Then they get tired of the toy and sell it off. Whoever gets it next has to deal with whatever the previous owner did to it.

And kinda like humans in a way, where you can eat whatever and not think about your health for decades, then one day it all catches up with you. Bikes can be that way too, one day everything just goes to crap because of previous abuse.

Im not saying you didn’t get a bad bike. But I do own three, and have some riding pals who have a couple too. Things break, sure, but not like this.

Only difference I see is that we all got our bikes new, and while I understand that may not be something everyone can do, you just never know how the previous owner treated it.

Maybe you did get a lemon.

401 reliability rant
 in  r/svartpilen401  3d ago

Well, as bad as it is to have this happen…

I don’t think it’s fair to buy a used bike and then blame the bike for the issues.

You don’t know how it was treated before you got it.

I have three of the 401’s, 2019, 2021 and 2022.

I have had zero issues with any of them. Even riding in the rain.

Now, while I could be a special case…I can only speak of my own experience.

There are always bad bikes, even from well known and well respected brands.

If I had a used bike, and it started having issues, I’d first assume the previous owner didn’t take care of it.

But it’s also possible you’re like my son, and just rough on it.

Maybe you truly got a bad build. It sucks, but it’s rare too.

Most often it’s a lack of proper maintenance and improper treatment that leads to these things.

Buying more characters

Define worth it….

How can any of us here tell you what is worth it? Not trying to be rude, honestly wondering how I could know what you value or enjoy when we don’t know you, nor what you like.

You haven’t explained what you like or find valuable…

Define good.

Everyone has different tastes and enjoy different games.

Turn off vehicles when you're not using them??
 in  r/farmingsimulator  3d ago

Glad you worked it out, but wanted to say…

As a real life farmer, surrounded by other farmers. I have never seen a single piece of equipment ever sitting with a cover on it.

And we don’t ever really park anything for 11 months. Things get moved and maintained all year long.

If you really want to get some realism in there, you disable the TAB function that lets you jump from vehicle to vehicle. I haven’t used the TAB key since 2017. No one I know plays that way, but I’m used to it.

I follow board game creators and store owners on social media, and they are all convinced that tariffs are going to be the end of the industry.

Even if it did end the industry, it would only be until the next one comes along and removes them.

Missions henchmen health
 in  r/DiceThrone  4d ago

I don't think it's a misstep at all. During testing it was brought up, and it means you'd have to then have some way to identify which dial belongs to which bad guy.

Also they'd take up a lot more space on the table, which is already maxed out in my house.

This is how we do it, backwards of what the rules say. For me it's easier to add to than subtract from.

Some Help would be appreciated
 in  r/GunfireReborn  5d ago

Funny, this is the opposite of what the person above you said...which means anyone who is asking this is now back on the bench trying to figure things out because they got two answers that are telling them to do the opposite of each other.

You're saying spread talents around the tree, they are saying focus on one tree.

See the confusion? I'm a new player, sorta (I've had the game since early access but only recently really started playing it), the only thing I have figured out is that Momo with a Tempest deals 100 million damage a run without any effort so long as you get Grinding Ink. It's easy mode, game gets old and unfun using this fast.

Want to try more characters with other ways to play with the cooler guns...but end up with conflicting answers for such questions like the OP has here.

Not saying you're wrong, nor trying to offend you by any means. Just literally laughed when I read you say the opposite of the other person. So, who do you trust in this situation to be telling you the right mentality?

Bought a misprinted game, what now?
 in  r/boardgames  7d ago

If you ordered a meal, and the waiter brought it to you without the salad and double the fries, what would you do?

You’d let them know it was incorrect so you could get the right order.

Publishers know that mistakes happen. Most rule books even have a contact us for missing parts section included for this reason.

"Completed" the Horsch map with the Nexat. 8/10
 in  r/farmingsimulator  8d ago

I haven't played the updated version, but I rated it 3 stars simply because the starting workshop was impossible to the starting header into for repair.

Little things like that matter to a lot of people, and while you can work around it by placing your own, what's the point of having it on the map if it's limited in such a way?

The AI is good on this map now though, so bonus points for that. They can maneuver around the field obstacles they couldn't do in FS22.

First Ranked Tournament
 in  r/DiceThrone  8d ago

For me, it seems the people who say they are broken just haven't faced them enough to understand them, thus they have issues beating them.

New additions to any game always need time to learn, not just to play as them but to play against them.

We had so many complaints about Psylocke and her ability to shut down status tokens when it first arrived, but here we are a month later and almost no one grumbles when she is picked.

It's just the growing pains of new content that happens in nearly every game.

Carless in Hilo
 in  r/BigIsland  9d ago

My wife and I have not had a car for five years since ours was stolen, and we do fine.

It’s 100 bucks a year for a membership to Walmart or target to get grocery delivery.

Uber to work is 8 bucks, and we walk home.

It’s good exercise, and we rarely get caught in the rain. If we decide we don’t want to walk in rain we simply get an uber home.

It’s not as expensive as one might think compared to the cost of a car.

Not for everyone, I guess, but we enjoy walking to the places we go.

FS25 Beehives broken?

Problem is, if you want to make cereal, as one example, you will have a very hard time getting enough honey to actually produce it.

They could have just lowered the value to balance it.

Super skrull mission seems harder than level 4 missions.
 in  r/DiceThrone  11d ago

4 players requires a lot of teamwork. You need to discuss everything, and be prepared to help each other in whatever way you have available.

You need to pause and go over your options after each roll, for example. Okay, here’s what I rolled, I have two options to go for here.

I can help you get that six, I have a card.

Save your CP in case this happens.

You have zero room for doing anything without everyone being on the same plan.

But at the end of the day. No matter how much planning and teamwork you display, you are at the mercy of the dice.
