Your opinion on this?
 in  r/inflation  15d ago

My issue is...if you claim that the money used to feed children is not "getting to where it is needed" ...you have to show proof of that misuse of funds. Hard evidence. Not just a "trust me bro." Not when children's lives are on the line.

US special envoy to Russia praises Putin, says he‘s „not a bad person“
 in  r/nottheonion  15d ago

Yeah and early 2000s Russia entertained the idea of joining NATO. They just wanted to turn down an offer (which didn't exist because everyone has to apply), but still, they thought about it.

Yes, that's him. From wikipedia:  As Yelchin apparently got out of his car and went to check his locked gate for mail, the vehicle rolled back down his driveway, which was on a steep incline and trapped him against the pillar and a security fence.

With Trump's crackdown on DEI, some women fear a path to good-paying jobs will close
 in  r/womenintech  16d ago

Also, please please please everyone remember that you won't get treated well at home in a trad-wife scenario.

Imagine, after a full day of work with a shit#y boss, who do they have to take out their frustrations on? And then start to resent you because "you don't work." And you can't get away from their anger.

You think that your partner is one of the good ones and won't do this, well, let me tell you it's a slippery slope.

Conor McGregor draws Irish leader’s ire after anti-immigration comments at White House
 in  r/worldnews  20d ago

Anyone watch Gary Stevenson from Gary's Economics?

He's a former trader from the UK and makes the argument that immigration issues are being promoted by the wealthy to distract from the other emerging realization by the public about vast wealth inequality. A "look here, don't look there" situation.

This would be an exact example of what he was talking about.

Mission Failure is the End Game

You know, I would've thought this was a conspiracy theory had I not read Project 2025. Awful times we live in.

Good! We’ll be waiting for you at the finish line!
 in  r/fednews  20d ago

If you read Project 2025, it's very clear that government employees are set up as the enemy. Like right in the first 20 pages. It's very poorly written, too.

I’m horrified thinking about the future of our “government”
 in  r/fednews  21d ago

The hiring freeze scares me. We need new, young people coming in to learn the ropes and mid level people to step into leadership. And not sycophants. I bet the proportion of federal workers headed into retirement in the next 10 years is large.

Even pre-COVID we had briefings about the large number of people nearing retirement and talking about action plans to bring talent in.

Is it weird that I've become comfortable with the idea that I'll be single for life?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  21d ago

Okay so first off, most women still worked in the past. Quit romantacizing a past that didn't exist. A lot of women had side hustles to make money even if they didn't have a full-time job. Case in point, my grandmother sold Electrolux vacuums and taught piano and organ lessons to make money. In this economy, both people working is almost mandatory. Bottom 50% of tax returns had an average Adjusted Gross Income of like 21k for 2022.

Also you are conveniently forgetting about the increased domestic violence in the past, because after a long day of shi%y treatment by your boss, who would men have at home to take out their frustrations on and resent for not having to "work"? That's right, women. And don't even get me started on back alley coat hanger abortions. The past was not better. It never was.

Feminism means equal treatment and choice, allowing for both house-husbands and housewives IF the person chooses that path.

"Most men want to be the protector" Bullcrap! If I made 300k a year, you betcha my honey is quitting his awful corpo job that he regularly tells me he hates and chasing his dream hobbies faster than you can say, "Eureka!"

I would argue that everybody wants to feel important, or rather, to feel valued as a human being. I would ask that you question why you "feeling important" and "like a provider" comes with strings attached for a woman to behave a certain way or fulfill a certain role.

Alex Jones pulled up in a Cybertruck to confront anti-Elon protestors
 in  r/PowerfulJRE  21d ago

I hope this subreddit is full of bots. I don't understand how anyone supports Alex Jones. Anyone care to explain?

Here is what I've found: Alex Jones was the one who proclaimed that the Sandy Hook shootings (which killed 20 first grade children) were a hoax. According to the Associated Press, "One father said conspiracy theorists urinated on his 7-year-old son’s grave and threatened to dig up the coffin."

Alex Jones made a lot of money selling "dietary supplements with names like Infowars Life Brain Force Plus and Life Super Male Vitality."

Here's the AP article if you want to read it:

Myth of women being more emotional than men needs to die
 in  r/TwoXChromosomes  23d ago

Somewhat related, I took a year off work for health reasons. I had good savings built up and still paid 50% of the bills. My fiance is a great guy, one of the good ones. But one day, I had a wake-up call, when he was venting emotionally about his shitty supervisors to me. I very much didn't want to hear about it, but was trying to be supportive. And just the way he had to vent it all out to me, the tone used, etc, made me think if he were not a better man, how easily it would be that I would become a physical and not just emotional punching bag.

All that to say, I think that all of the trad wife propaganda pushing I've been seeing lately has serious consequences that I don't think young women are prepared for. It's already hard trying to emotionally "talk-down" and regulate men in general, let alone a partner you can't get away from.

 in  r/PowerfulJRE  23d ago

I don't think he's blaming white people though. Saying a minority group is behind doesn't blame the majority. If one group is behind, we need to find out why and make corrections. For instance, black women have a higher mortality rate in pregnancy than white women. Why? Is it because they have a victim mentality? I doubt it.

They are becoming increasingly more violent
 in  r/PowerfulJRE  23d ago

I mean, Elon Musk is part of a family known for their racism, and he did Nazi salutes behind the United States seal. He also made light of Nazis in various tweets.

Over 6 million dead in those concentration camps. I've seen the pile of shoes at the Holocaust museum. So yeah, if he happened to get pushed off a bridge, I can't say I'd be mad about it.

How young is too young when you're 33?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  23d ago

I hate this attitude of "as long as it's legal." That tells me you would pursue relationships if the legal limit was, say, 15. Who cares as long as it's legal, right?

My only advice to OP is to use common sense. I know I can immediately tell when I talk to young 20-somethings that we just aren't on the same page in life, and there's an imbalance there. That's a no go for me romantically, but why not just make a friend instead?

Single men ‘significantly’ poorer amid collapse in marriage rates
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  23d ago

As an ugly, I disagree. Pretty privilege applies to women and men equally, in my experience. And pretty women especially know how to sell themselves and be "visible" for promotions, it's a social skill. And I've worked with more mediocre men than women. I don't think there's anything wrong with being mediocre per se. Sometimes I prefer working with mediocre men who are more chill, rather than workaholic-mean-girl Brenda who feels like she needs to prove herself every day. Women can be very cut-throat and competitive and it can make life exhausting with how capable and demanding they can be.

EPA administrator announces huge rollback of environmental regulations
 in  r/news  25d ago

An argument I heard the other day (I think it was Hank Green) about how to persuade non believers that carbon dioxide is warming the planet is to imagine another particle (water) becoming saturated in the air. Does it feel warmer? 99% of people in the US have complained at some point or another about humidity and how hot it gets, so I thought that was really effective. "It's not the heat, it's the humidity" --> "It's not the heat, it's the carbon dioxide."

Bernie Sanders Issues Warning About Elon Musk's Plans for AI: "You Will Be Out on the Street"
 in  r/Futurism  Mar 07 '25

Did anybody else catch that we couldn't get any green/clean nuclear energy projects off the ground until the billionaires realized they needed them to power their AI data centers so they could enslave all of us?

They literally took AI and within months, months! instead of using it to do things humans don't already do (spotting cancer better, weed identification, etc) they immediately weaponize it against the average worker to replace our jobs and convince politicians it's fine because it's "the fUtuRe"
