After two years of solo development, I realized that I live for this game, and I have created not just a game world, but a world you want to stay in.

Might be a good idea to show some gameplay of your amazing game instead of just a 3 minute shot of the day-night cycle

Which one is the most well-written

Digital Circus is a nice breath of fresh air regarding this theme. It's pretty well written and doesn't take itself too seriously. I think it's target audience is a lot bigger than most projects

Help | Java 1.21.4 Question: how do you set an item display entity to an item with custom model data?

1 Upvotes

It seems the command syntax is different from giving the player an item.

Command that works for a custom model: /give (player) mace[minecraft:custom_model_data={strings:['bat']}]

Running the following to set the item of a display entity does not work: /data merge entity (item display) {item:{id:mace[minecraft:custom_model_data={strings:['bat']}]}}

Is this possible? Been screwing around with the syntax for hours

Really neat decision to tattoo the metal parts of the instrument only! It's a little more abstract that way

I suppose you could make a throttle with a variable resistor and a battery?

SOLVED Children's book about middle school, where the school is run by a student mafia. Some students get socially assassinated by getting sprayed with cat urine with a water pistol. Don't remember much else.

SOLVED Children's book about a boy inventor who created a "friendly alarm clock" that taps you on the shoulder to wake up. He struggles with inventor's block and gets his idea stolen in a science fair.

I swear it's on the tip of my tongue. I'd even recognize the cover I bet.

I don't understand why everyone chooses auto instead of manual

I don’t understand why everyone chooses auto instead of manual

Besides that it's the easy way, you don't need to learn anything to drive an auto, one of the main reasons I always hear is: "Auto is much better in traffic".

And I think that is a really stupid reason. Instead of switching from manual to auto, you should find a way to not waste hours of your life in traffic. Choose a different route. Drive an hour earlier/later to not be in a rush hour. Find another job.

But I’ll tell you the main reason why I’d choose manual over auto any car any day. Safety.

Did you know that you have a much higher chance of dying in a car crash than in a plane crash? It has been proven many times by various statistics. By the way, pedestrian fatalities in the US also have been rising since the 2010s (https://www.planetizen.com/news/2019/07/105095-us-pedestrian-fatalities-rise-while-european-pedestrian-fatalities-fall).

It’s literally safer to fly planes than simply driving.

So if I’m going to drive, I want to have full control over the car. I want to be focused on driving. And if there’s a dangerous situation - I want to have the ability to control my car 100%. I want to have the ability to speed up as much as needed when I push the throttle. Not what the automatic system decides for me.

And if I’m going to make a mistake, if I’m going to crash, that will be my sole mistake. Not because the automatic transmission was limiting my driving in any way.

I feel that the laziness and stupidity of the majority are the main reasons why cars are turning into giant smartphones on wheels. I don't like this trend at all.

This code shouldn't have any errors and is really simple. Why does Visual Studio fail to compile it?

Pretty stupid, but I turned my computer off and on again and it compiles fine now. Switched the project back to C++14 and restarted again just to try, and it still works. Issue resolved, thanks for the help

Dang. This kind of thing happened earlier when it just stopped compiling for no reason. Repaired the install and it ran fine until this. That sucks :,)

Can't find the output type. Where can I find that option? Every resource online says to look into the project properties, but my properties does not contain an "application" tab

Visual Studio 22 This code shouldn't have any errors and is really simple. Why does Visual Studio fail to compile it?

My code is as follows:

#include <iostream>
#include <string>

int main()
{
std::string hello;
hello = "Hi there";
std::cout << hello;
return 0;
}

When trying to compile, this error is produced:

"Exception thrown at 0x00007FFD55DE7CC1 (ucrtbased.dll) in Testing ground.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000000000000000."

What is going on? I checked the error location and it mentions me not having C++17, which shouldn't be the case since I enabled C++17 in the project properties.

Edit: I am coding in C++

What is this guitar string sound coming from inside my car?

I suggest uploading a silent clip of the sound. Your voice makes me hesitant to put my ear to the speaker
