The greatest compliment 😂

Do I have to kill my style to keep my job?
 in  r/graphic_design  5d ago

Maybe, but I think it’s a reasonable observation that many companies are stuck in an outdated design language, when modern design offers many solutions that are objectively better, scalable and more practical. I feel this way in my job, too

Is “cover the middle” propaganda from Big Passing?

Man I think I am exactly like this person. I have spent my life working on ground strokes but my net game is such a glaring weakness.

Interesting to read this and know that my live ball crew probably thinks same of me!

How to avoid thightness?
 in  r/10s  10d ago

I agree, it can be anything.

I’m asking - what do you do to reset?

Great point and I completely agree. Do you have any rituals that help you reset between points?

How to avoid thightness?

I heard something interesting which has helped me:

How could a pro NFL player with a $20m salary drop the football on an important play?
He's caught footballs thousands of times. He's one of the best in the world.

The answer is lack of focus, which in sports is caused by one of two things:
Fear, as in the fear of failure.
"Greed," meaning that in his mind, he'd already caught the football.

Both of these contribute to a lack of focus on the singular task of catching the ball.

Applied to tennis - fear and "greed" take our focus off of the ball.
Tennis is all short-term memory.
This point, this ball, move on.

Dont think about the previous loss.
Dont think about how they're more consistent.
Focus on each and every ball, and give it your best effort.

Made this recently. Any feedback how this can be improved.

A detail thing - too much grain on top.
It conflicts with the flat clean design that we're used to seeing in UI every day.

Usually I'm like "add more noise," but this is overboard.

Why are some tennis players so pretentious

The rise of pickleball has reinforced how special and talented we really are.

We had forgotten but it’s so clear now

The coach actually was feeding, and I was passed by another player. But it did strike me as funny that he celebrated the failure of his own advice like 20 seconds later lol

General Advice Is “cover the middle” propaganda from Big Passing?

When I play doubles, I like to cover the alley.

In my new liveball group, coach kept telling me to cover the middle. “Most balls go in the middle.”

So I cover the middle and immediately get passed down the alley. Same coach was like “GOT ‘IM”

What gives? Growing up I was told to cover the alley. Just wondering if lobbyists in Washington are spending millions on a “Cover The Middle” campaign, setting up a new generation of tennis players to get passed down the alley.
