WIC vs 2' deep long closet
We have very different definitions of tight lot haha. If you want it to looks more upscale and function better though, consider builtins rather than the walled in closet.

Rising odds asteroid that briefly threatened Earth will hit moon
Maybe I'm missing something, but can't we not see the shadowed side of the moon?

I don’t like this stone skirting. What now?
I see what you see, but it's not bad. I think two things will help.
1. return around the corner by two ft or so.
2. maybe lift the stone around your front entry, either the whole face of it or just to frame the door. Possibly involve architect on that.
Both of these will not use too much stone, but cost labour for sure, but the result will look more complete.

Billionaire's False Narrative...
I've lived in Finland and Canada. The two countries have very different approaches. In Finland, they give people housing. In Canada, we have shelters where the homeless can go when it gets too cold. In other words in Finland, they solve the problem, and in Canada, we have tons of homeless people that we help not die for another night.
The causes of homelessness are the same no matter the temperature outside.

Billionaire's False Narrative...
What's your argument here? That being without a home is ok if it's warm out?

Specialized Hardrock with Hydro brakes
Oh sorry I misunderstood. I did the adapter thing, which I see you already have done. Personally Id trust the forks, I've done pretty rowdy trails on mine fully loaded (though I'm only 80kg). I suppose you have the added stress of the disc brake.

Specialized Hardrock with Hydro brakes
I converted to thread less but went back. It's a chore to find the right quill stem, but when you do it really looks so much better and functionally has fewer failure points than an adapter

What Zero Drop Shoe Brands use Affirm at Checkout?
It's been said elsewhere in the thread, but the cheap shoes (whitin, hobibear, joomra) are great.
I've tried vivo, lems, and xero so far. I prefer the chinese shoes to all of them. They:
1 are wider and fit way better (than vivo and xero)
2 last longer (esp over lems, which have soft soles)
3 can be flexier
BUT: They squeak.
The traditional thought about "quality shoes" breaks down when the goal is to have less shoe.

Walmart increasing the price of Canadian made products.
I've been buying these diapers there because they and Amazon are the only places that sell them (unfortunately). Everythign else I've switched to canadian stores, but I can't stomache buying another box of American huggies.

Average payment for an F150 hits $919 per month in 2024
I'm pretty sure the Silverado and GMC version together outsell the f150 most years. But because it's split under 2 brands the f150 gets the headlines

What Pixel 9a should've been
Way better. More fun and playful, which the a series should be.

Meet Muhammad Kallas, a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at CIBC who also works at KPU Melville School of Business. Muhammad naively believes that if he replaces 'Israel' with 'Palestine,' his imaginary world becomes real. Also, is it legal to vandalize product tags at Costco in Canada?
It's most likely a Jaffa Sweetie grapefruit too, a grapefruit developed by Israelis.

Me in class 5 mins before the assignment is due
As explained by chatgpt, in the voice of a 10th grader:
Echo writing with AI means using AI to copy or "echo" a certain writing style or pattern. This can be helpful for different reasons, like:
Copying a Writing Style – AI can study someone’s writing and create new text that sounds just like them.
Call-and-Response Writing – AI can answer in a way that matches the tone of the original message.
Repeating Key Ideas – AI can repeat and explain important points to make them clearer.
Working Together on Writing – AI can help write drafts while keeping the original tone and message.
Are you asking about a specific way echo writing is used, like in stories or essays?

F-35 fighter jet review ordered by Carney
That's a great video. Seems like maybe instead of reviewing this order, we should be adding European made aircraft to the roster. The planes can work in tandem, and if somehow the US screws us with theirs we at least would have a backup. I don't know if our hornet would fill this role or how it stacks up to the eruopean jets, though.

The world has united to shit on Cybertrucks and Teslas. Can we please do these next?
Calgarian here. These boil my blood so much. I had the gall to point out in a local sub that bull bars kill pedestrians and make the driver less safe in an accident. Obviously I got downvoted to oblivion.

Honestly i can't find any good reason to put 10% of a logo on a corner, its just weird as hell
If you zoom in, it's hard to say but it looks like it has too much thickness to be a sticker. Good theory though

Canada won’t drop tariffs on Chinese EVs, despite trade war with U.S.: minister
That's a good point. I wonder how much proximity to Japan and China helped them when they started.
I mean, if we can build a competitive car, fantastic. Regrettably, our manufacturing, design, and engineering capacity is far less than it used to be.
Case in point, I studied industrial design. I did a master's in Europe. Why? Because there is no masters program in Canada. For all of industrial design. For comparison, everyagkr university in Finland, where I studied, has a master's program. There are even multiple programs in Europe dedicated to automotive design.
So basically, we'll be importing any automotive designers for years to come if we want a Canadian brand. I'd imagine it's the same with automotive engineers, etc.
Best case scenario is a local brand is able to buy out an existing Canadian assembly line that is being sold off.
It's all possible, and - I agree- would be great, but we are facing a reeeeaally uphill battle with value added manufacturing.
Not to mention, maybe we could double down on something more forward looking like trams and trains, a capability we already had but sold in the form of bombardier.

Canada won’t drop tariffs on Chinese EVs, despite trade war with U.S.: minister
The Canadian market just isn't big enough to support a car brand. We can be pretty certain now that if we had a fully made in Canada car, the US would somehow tariff it to oblivion. Leaving 40million customers who can still choose American European and Japanese alternatives.

Building a passenger rail culture in Canada: Toronto and Calgary on parallel tracks
That's kind of the difference with rail and roads too. With rail, you can add faster trains, more cars, etc. Roads just get shittier over time. How long before the ring road is just as jammed as deerfoot? 10 years maybe?

Best brand for treadmill?
I've boxed for years with the cheap whitins on rubber floor. Almost have a hole through them but not yet.
Or maybe go barefoot?
