Carbon Tax Rebate Gone!!
 in  r/canadian  5d ago

Oil companies do not set the price of fuel... they have nothing to do with it. The futures market does.

All you people saying that expose how ignorant you are to how that industry functions

Carbon Tax Rebate Gone!!
 in  r/canadian  5d ago

Enbridge estimates that this carbon tax removal saves the average consumer ~$220/year (You can find this on their website, not sure if I can share links here).

Show me your natural gas bill.

I'm not denying endbridge saying this, but that's overall average, and there's a hell of a lot of small apartments in this country.

If you have a house... you're 100% paying far more than 220 a year on your nat gas bill.

My nat gas bill is 50-60 a month in carbon tax.

No... they're upset because they got nothing else going on in their lives.

This is nothing more than recreational outrage.

It's so stupid.

The consumer carbon tax is gone as of today. What will that mean for your wallet?
 in  r/canada  6d ago

It was around 0.5%

The carbon tax is 17 cents. It's 10%

How are you getting 0.5%?

Dude, all the liberals during their leadership race admitted that the tax wasn't working as intended and that it negatively impacted consumers.

The real misinformation was them saying most canadians were better off from taxing energy.

Anthony Koch: Canada works fine — if you're a boomer; This isn’t a left-versus-right issue. It’s generational. The system still works if you own a home, have a pension, and aren’t saddled with debt
 in  r/canada  6d ago

I agree, and also over the last 6-7 years, the cost of permitting and building materials has absolutely skyrocketed. The cost to build a house now is just insane with every level of government with their hand out looking for money.

15 years ago you could build a modest house for 80k. Now that's only enough to cover the permits and a few 2x4's.

Drug classification is federal. They would need federal approval... and there's no way around it.

That's my wage...

On top of that, there's pension, rrsp's, stock options...great benefits.. etc.

Also a kick ass work schedule.

We make 150-200k a year and only work 6 m9nths a year.

It's not the 1970's anymore. Times have changed.

And FYI, our ceo makes 64k a month with a 400k safety bonus and a 400k production bonus if there are improvements.

I'd be willing to bet the guys in this video are doing pretty well financially.

39 per hour flat rate, then the production bonus in top of it... which ranges from 40 to 65.

Majority Of Canadians say refugees receive too many benefits
 in  r/canadian  8d ago

Funny, you make this comment, then talk about misinformation.

Only 1/3rd of refugees have work permits, And the ones that actually do work, have an average income of under $30k a year. Meanwhile the government is spending like $240 per refugee... every single day.

Tell me more about how much taxes they pay and how much I benefit from that.

and not realize that pretty much the only main difference is the cost due to the levels of security required.

Yeah, that is absolutely NOT the main difference.

Medium security inmates have a lot more freedom. Like, it ain't even close.
