Not a standard player, so curious about the interaction. Does Ursol trigger the corrupt effect when playing Shaladrassil like that? If so, that's awesome. Deck is way too slow in wild where Librams can kill you T4/5 so haven't seen the deck in question.

Unless you know you're playing into aggro, but you better be playing wild and seeing T1 pirate + Patches + Deckhand first before you do

Ovechkin on the mic after breaking Gretzky’s all-time goals record.
 in  r/hockey  21h ago

I honestly could see someone breaking Ovi's record, but they're going to need the same health and longevity, and luck out to avoid major season stoppages. Ovi lost his actual rookie year to the 04-05 lockout, half of the 2012-13 season, and half of the covid year. And he broke the record in spite of that. You need 20 uninterrupted years to match this pace, so it's possible but it's going to take multiple factors outside of the player's control. Or a major rule change to inflate scoring again.

Yeah this season being the 1st time Ovi ever missed significant time due to injury is wild. Without the lockouts, he'd have smashed this record years ago. And with his longevity, we'd be talking about 1000 now instead. Despite losing 1.5 seasons to lockouts and .5 to covid, he's still easily clearing 900 before he retires. You can't tell me he wouldn't have put up ~80-90 over 2 seasons, 1 his actual rookie year and the others in the middle of his prime.

A look back at how the Florida Panthers tried to draft Ovechkin 4 different times in the 2003 draft trying to use the Leap year.

The best ability is availability as they say. You can be a god amongst men, but if you're hurt or otherwise what good does that do

[Friedman] Postgame, Washington coach Spencer Carbery confirmed Ovechkin did not want to go on the ice with Chicago's net empty. "He wants to break the record with a goaltender in the crease."
 in  r/hockey  2d ago

That's exactly what happened to Gordie. Because Wayne could put up 3-4 a night, when he got close Gordie traveled too, but Wayne had like a 7 game stretch with no goals when he was like 5 off the record. I'm pretty sure Gordie was getting annoyed with it, or said he must be a bad luck charm. Something along those lines, but very jokingly.

Lmao yeah now that he's tied why would he walk away early. He could show up for 5 games next year, get the record and then fuck off if that's really his intention but it would be insane to tie the record and then go to the KHL.

Counterpoint: they've also succeeded 5953 times. Ovi has by far the most shots on goal in league history with 6847 SOG.

[Caps] 1,788 goals scored between these two or also 894 apiece
 in  r/hockey  2d ago

That's valid, I was mostly making a hyperbolic joke. Either way, for a nation that has existed in some form for close to 500 years, it's rough when we can only collectively name 8 decent leaders.

I love motorsports. It also is a huge aspect of sportwashing for some awful regimes in the Middle East. It's tough to separate the human rights violations that occur there when drivers have their passports threatened and missiles get fired just miles from the track.

Tbf that list doesn't have a whole lot of competition. It's basically Peter the Great and Gorbachev. If you don't get into a land war and avoid famine, you're basically a shoo in for top 3 Russian rulers.

Ovechkin could break the chase by scoring on a never before scored on goalie - Sorokin
 in  r/hockey  2d ago

Gretz both tied and broke the record against McLean, he scored #801 and 802 in the same night. Kinda fun that Ovi will have 2 different goalies as part of his record, tied Gretz vs Knight and then breaks it against someone else.

Predictions on how these nerfs will affect Wild...
 in  r/wildhearthstone  2d ago

I played the deck recipe in standard for a quest to summon leeches and if you can clear the board and go face with them, it permanently reduces their heroes health. I've gotten people down to 15 max HP on the turn I dropped Husk if I drew into other leech cards early. It was hilariously busted, the deck recipe took me from unranked in standard to high silver just completing the quest.

Lore changes you would have made to Cataclysm ?
 in  r/warcraftlore  2d ago

If we're gonna fix some movie inspired zones, please for the love of fuck return Redridge to classic era storylines and cut the Rambo shit. I dont even like classic gameplay wise, but I've played Elwynn -> Westfall -> Redridge -> Duskwood in both 2019 classic and SoD because those zones are just so well written.

Elite face off specialist. I remember the Canucks at one point ran him solely for faceoffs even after his eye injury and then just had him jump off the ice for someone else

Pre third war high elves devoted a lot of resources to exploring kalimdor, but why?
 in  r/warcraftlore  3d ago

I don't think Rhonin was ever dubbed that, it was more so that he was used to spell casting without using the Well of Eternity, so when they got sent back his magic was heavily amplified. A Rock Lee taking off the power bands type moment if you will.

That said, you could 100% be right, most of the characters from the Knaak books have been killed or fridged for a long time.

Yeah I like to view them as fun buddy cop books because the Rhonin and Krasus relationship is a blast. But we also don't really know where the Broken Isles were in relation to the landmass prior to the Sundering, in theory Hyjal and Suramar could have been fairly close. The Chronicle pre-Sundering map has Suramar/the Well of Eternity basically smack dab in the middle, and if the Tauren were still in Mulgore then yes they would have been closer. But I believe it's been stated that was the Huln who fought with them, which would actually have Hyjal closer to Suramar than Highmountain.

That book was in classic right? The Knaak books were written simultaneously to WoW, which is why we also ended up with 2 Hakkars in the span of like 10 months (I believe WotA released first, but who knows how long Metzen was planning Zul'gurub). The team just didn't communicate lore well to Knaak or proof read it clearly before release or we could have avoided a ton of contradictions.

Hell those books said Suramar was destroyed and they back tracked that for Legion too. Tyrande, Brox and Rhonin visited it in the books and it was just demons and undead there, and hinted at the demons beginning to experiment with necromancy pre Scourge.

Oh the Legion retcons I was talking about were more Illidan's motivations through the Light's Heart flashbacks. Those were full retcons, unlike the DH intro zone that was just filling in a gap.

Shadowlands gets even messier because to make the Lich King make sense in universe now, you have to believe that Zovaal simultaneously had the dreadlords working on plan A while Ner'zhul rebeled against them and drew in Arthas as plan B. They were diametrically opposed in WC3 so Zovaal's plan makes zero fucking sense when you say it out loud.

 in  r/warcraftlore  3d ago

Yeah end bosses like Argus or N'zoth work because Argus was a puppet of Sargeras, the dude infamous for his unending army of increasingly more powerful creatures and N'zoth had been setup as the master of previous villains so the whole mustache twirling, you've freed me from my prison thing works since he's a known schemer.

Zovaal was such an ass pull and retroactively makes Wrath and other lore less impactful. Legion might have retconned a lot of TBC, but I think it helps justify and course correct a lot of mistakes they made in 2007 that they wouldn't have done with hindsight.

Tyrande expresses more surpise at Orcs in WC3 than High Elves, despite having fought alongside Broxigar in the War of the Ancients (byproduct of WC3 coming out before the books). She is pretty cordial towards Kael'thas, and would have obviously recognize the surname Sunstrider as a descendant of the Dathremar she exiled.

So the night elves being surprised about "green skins" is more a out of line with current lore than the night elves being aware of the high/blood elves.

Hot fixes usually aren't used for balancing specs, only quick bugs they can fix with a quick push to servers. Balance tuning always comes with resets and larger patched

Probably the most underrated card in terms of fun it can produce. It can turn the end of Standard games into "Wild".

It's not bad compared to some other options on Malorne discovers. You dont gameplan around it, but as an rng pull it has flipped a few games for me with imbue mage.

Well I'll definitely have to keep an eye out, I love the use of some unconventional/uncommon colors like the pink and maroon on the art gallery. It's what makes some of the Friends sets so good for re-MOCs, get some pretty fun colors for the buildings. Makes for a more vibrant city than just the official modulars.

A graph of Final Four appearances
 in  r/CollegeBasketball  4d ago

UCONN is just efficient as fuck, 7 final four appearances in 26 years with 6 titles. More final four appearances than a lot of their old Big East rivals and significantly more wins, but they've only been relevant since the turn of the millennium.
