Buyer messed up our toilet
 in  r/RealEstate  Jul 12 '23

Where do you draw the line? Run the dishwasher, cycle the washer/dryer, turn on all sink faucets, run AC/heater, pull up all vent covers, climb up the attic? Unless there’re obvious signs of problem, I’d leave it to the inspector.

Private showings. Hard to prove which one did it though. Not like we have cameras in the bathroom.

I sold my previous home with the water shut off and toilets taped down. Viewing is not the time to inspect all mechanical problems. In any case, a problematic toilet is very cheap to fix compared to other things.

Yeah my house is in a nice neighborhood with top of state school district. Never imagined a prospective buyer could be so stupid/reckless.

I wouldn’t mind it so much if they had used the bidet like a civilized person.

I haven’t had baby wipes for 8 years. They brought their own.

He could help find a plumber for one. We’re out of state, spent half the day trying to find and coordinate with plumbers.

Yesterday we had a few showings, during which some ahole took a massive dump, clogged it with THEIR baby wipes and flushed it multiple times resulting in an overflow. Our toilet has a bidet AND toilet paper provided.

We probably won’t be able to go after anyone for the plumber bill and my realtor hasn’t been helpful so I just want to leave a PSA: tape your toilet cover shut.

PS: they brought their own baby wipes. This is a nice neighborhood with 10/10 schools.

Exceeded the quoted range

The quoted range is for mixed driving. If you never get on the highway it can easily exceed that.

Slow charging in optimal condition
 in  r/KiaEV6  Jun 09 '23

I’ve heard that they don’t work sometimes, and saw some broken stalls on my trip, but I didn’t know they throttled. Sucks when you buy into the 800v hype!

I thought that was needed for cold weather only?

Slow charging in optimal condition

Took my Wind AWD on a long road trip last week. Weather was mostly around the 80s, yet I couldn’t break 160kW on multiple 350kW EA chargers, at ~30% SoC. There was even an Ioniq5 pulling 200kw next to my car! Ironically the highest number I got was from a 150kw stall.

Is my car defective?

P/s: on the bright side, it seemed to be a lot more efficient than ABRP assumed, often arriving at charger with 10% SoC excess.

The fans help a lot. 80F + direct fan feels like 76F without fan.

Awesome progress! I would have guessed you were 69kg on the left.

Be kind to new EV owners
 in  r/electricvehicles  May 06 '23

I’m normally super calm but sometimes when the person you’re trying to help is angry and frustrated, it can really get to you.

I gifted my dad a laptop, boy was that a mistake. Every time he couldn’t do something it’s somehow my fault and he took it out on me.

Cannot remove old adapter or screw on new faucet

I did use a propane torch for a couple of minutes (see comment). It’s dripping though, possibly wasn’t hot enough to melt the solder?

Cannot remove old adapter or screw on new faucet
 in  r/DIY  May 03 '23

I bought the same Delta faucet (3rd pic) thinking it would fit on old adapter (1st pic) but it didn’t screw in very far. I think the threads are slightly different even though they look identical (4th pic)

So now I’m trying to replace the old adapter with new one (2nd pic). Hit it hard with a blow torch and a vice wrench, but it’s not budging, probably due to sediment and corrosion.

What should I try next?

The illusive perfectly symmetrical McMansion

People do think that way! When I was a poor student living in an apartment, I judged someone’s wealthiness by the number of garages they had.

Car permanently smells like fruit 🤬

They’re probably covering something up. My car was also doused in perfume from the dealership, when it wore off I could smell cigarettes, someone definitely smoked in there.
