Do you think Italy/Poland will leave the EU any time soon?

I think there's a slight chance. The change in opinion of the EU compared to 4-5 years ago is really palpable.

‘Third-child’ policy: Italy’s Lega wants to give farmland for free to large families
 in  r/europe  Nov 01 '18

Read the article:

>Half of the parcels of land slotted for the grant scheme consists of agricultural land owned by the state and not usable for other purposes and the other half of abandoned or uncultivated areas in southern Italy.

>Coldiretti, a leading farmer organisation representing half a million farmers, estimates that the agricultural land owned by the state covers half a million hectares out of almost 13 million hectares of surface area used in Italy.“These are fertile lands, even of large dimensions, but most of the time they are under-utilised because they lack an entrepreneurial management capable of enhancing them adequately,” Coldiretti said.

According to Coldiretti, giving these lands to farmers would remove from the state the burden to cultivate the land, but above all, it would have the advantage of responding to the demand of the new generations, for whom the lack of availability of land to cultivate is the main obstacle to entering the sector.

Actually history shows high inflation primarily during the 70s, which was the case for most countries when Bretton Woods collapsed and the Oil/Energy crisis

You’re not wrong, but it just shows you the limitations of the Euro considering how little effect those policies had.

It's proof that decisive environmental action can be successful. The thing is the Montreal protocol was accompanied by a significant fund for developing countries. Countries will take action if there's economic benefit.

You have the benefit of an independent monetary policy to help you manage the next crisis though. Its part of the reason why the US and the UK, despite being the two countries hit hardest by the recession (because their policies partially caused it), also were amongst the quickest to recover, even if austerity hampered the UK a lot.

Italy is actually over rated?
 in  r/solotravel  Oct 30 '18

Just fyi Italy has lower homocide and violent crime rates than Australia. Your impression of feeling unsafe was just that, a feeling. The worst thing that could've happened to you was being pickpocketed, which honestly is pretty easy to avoid if you take basic precautions.

Anyway, being both Italian and Australian (although I haven't been down since a few years now), I think you need to take a step back and understand a couple of things:

  1. Italy, or any country other than your own, doesn't owe you anything. You're not going to get given the best pizza at the airport, you're not going receive special treatment in any way. I noticed in one comment you complained about a language barrier. Really? I'm sorry but that is just incredibly entitled, to expect normal people in another country to speak your language.

  2. You need to put some effort when you travel. You literally went at the worst possible times, stuck to the tourist trail (evidenced by your whining about the beggars, they only stick to places where they find people like you), and didn't take basic traveling precautions, as mentioned by your (irrational) constant fear of being assaulted. Like who do you think you are that people would try to rob you lol, you're just a random traveller.

  3. Different countries are...different. Shocking, I know. Yes, Australians have a deserved reputation of being nice. But that doesn't mean everyone else is an asshole. You mentioned people lacked patience with your imperfect Italian, frankly i find that hard to believe. Amongst European nations we are known for being very helpful with people learning our language, because we know its not a particularly useful language so its quite flattering to see a foreigner learning it. I have never heard a comment like that regarding Italians.

Regarding the beggars/gypsies/Africans I agree that they're a nuisance (if it were up to me they'd be deported), but like I said beyond the tourist trail they're not common and if you just have a firm stance they don't bother you.

Tbh I don't think this is about Italy, its about your attitude to countries other than your own. I can't imagine you ever having the nerve to visit a developing country aside from a trip to Bali for example, a Germanic country is probably the most exotic you can handle. Australia's probably the most blessed country in the history of the world, aside from possibly the US. Things are going to be different, not necessarily in a good or bad way. There's plenty to criticise about Australia too.

Except his arguments are backed up with at least some sort of economic thought. Cause, you know, he's an economist.

To think that the EU plan for Greece was in anyway good for Greece is to be willfully ignorant. It made no sense, and we see the consequences today unfortunately. The crisis was incredibly mismanaged and the Greek government has just become a puppet

I think its sad that your persecution complex is so ingrained that you can't stand the fact that other people can be discriminated against.

Yes, even white people. There was literally a shooting at a synagogue the other day for example. Or how about the fact that the largest lynching in US history was of Italians?

Your understanding of ethnicity is skin-deep. Literally.

Your experience of someone from Albania or France breaking your balls is irrelevant.

Right, your discrimination is important just cause.

My discrimination is different, cause 'you're European'.

You really expect people to sympathise with that sort of attitude?

Because you still have an old world mentality of cultural and ethnic identity.

If its different from the American mentality where its literally all about skin colour apparently, then good.

Of course it sounds bad...its exaggerated. Thats the whole point. Thats why its funny, cause no one talks like that in real life.

The Italian chefs accent is just as exaggerated, you realise how many times I’ve heard that, as an Italian? But it doesn’t matter, if its a joke it’s a lame joke, if it’s actually someone trying to insult me I take it up with that person, not a cartoon character.

The general ‘mafioso’ stereotype. ‘Oh yeah of course nothing in your country works, something something mafia’, I’ve heard several times. Or, ‘Oh man, what are you gonna do, break my legs?’

Of course thats just Fat Tony, the other Italian on that show, the chef, is even more stereotypical.

Or Mario. For everytime you’ve heard ‘Thank you come again’, I’ve heard ‘Its a me’ or ‘Mamma mia!’. In one of the games I remember when you didn’t move him he would sleep and mumble ‘pasta, spaghetti’. Oh, and his voice actor’s not Italian.

But whatever, you take it on the chin, if its a joke its a joke, if its actually someone trying to insult you then THAT person is a prick, not some imaginary cartoon character.

Btw if you’re gonna just downvote me for simply replying then you’re not really going into this in good faith. Which sort of proves my point.

Its as asian as it could be lol. Indian accents are quite distinct. Its exaggerated in Apu sure, but everyone’s is. It’s part of the whole joke. You don’t need to be Indian to do an exaggerated Indian accent, or any other accent.
