As a tank, I am so disappointed that there seems to be "one true route" that some YouTuber likes and if I deviate then I am a shit tank
“But did we time it?”
If yes, then who cares?
You can’t make everyone happy. I bet that the people who call you a trash tank get the gear and all you get is a couple of gold from the end chest for a job well done. It’s always the ones who either under perform or complain the whole time who get the gear. I hate it.
Just let it roll off of you. If you want to do something about it, add them to your ignore list. Don’t let someone’s bad attitude yuck your yum. Keep doing you.

Overwhelmed on how to gear up as a fresh 80 tank to get into M+
So, I just geared my tank alt last week to this week from fresh to 649.
What I did: did weekly quests for the pinnacle chests to get some veteran/champ/hero gear depending on the rewards. Run normal dungeons until I have the ilvl to run heroics. When I hit 619ish ilvl I ran delves (tier 11 bountifuls, I bought extra keys and farmed a couple). As a tank it should be pretty easy to do this even at 620 ilvl with a lvl 40-45 Brann set to be a healer. I use the grenade curio and the pacifist rig curio and it was a breeze.
Did a full round of Mythic 0 dungeons (most of the time you can find a group in dungeon finder doing M0 world tour, I like to just search for “M0” and I usually find something.
Once I had champion gear, I just spent stones/crests to start upgrading all my gear pieces to 649 (not any higher because hero gear picks up at 649).
If you haven’t discovered him yet, check out Quazii on YouTube. He has made EXTREMELY good, easy to understand and detailed guides on how to play each dungeon (he calls them master classes if I recall…). He also has tank guides for each spec if you need some instruction on how to get started as a PvE tank. Highly recommend that. He also provides a Mythic Dungeon Tools PUG (Pick Up Group) friendly route for every dungeon, which is extremely helpful when you’re just starting out and need help planning routes for percentage which is (at least to me) the most difficult part of being a tank right now.
Once I did my world tour and had a very basic, not great understanding of what routes to use for each dungeon (I have healed up to 2615 rating on my healer as of a few days ago so I kinda know what I need to do but never really paid much attention to percentage) I just sent a couple of +2 dungeons. I didn’t even tell people it was my first time ever tanking I just did what I needed to do. If it wasn’t a clean pull but we made it through it I’d just say my apologies I’ll do better on the next one and move on. I’ve ran enough +2 and +3 now on my tank that I now have my own modifications to the routes that Quazii provided that I prefer more, so the routes feel more like “mine” and getting correct percentage feels more natural.
If you want to talk more, just send me a DM.

Demoting an officer
Kick don’t demote. You’re essentially firing the guy, keeping him around is just going to create more drama, and believe me, even just kicking him will create drama. If I were you I’d brief your other officers right before you do the kick, to explain what’s happening and why, and then do it.
You can then explain as needed to the rest of the guild but it’s important to have your leadership onboard first because it will help with mitigating the fall out.

My opinion being a solo player and healer
I hit 2500 healing last week and it was a brutal push to time a few of the dungeons pugging 10s. The couple of +11 that I have tried usually fail within the first 2 or 3 pulls. Especially floodgate…everyone stands in the bad, everyone eats the flamethrower, easy 10 deaths before the first pull is over lol.
PSA (unless they changed it) if you’re a ranged dps, for the first pull people usually do with the 2 shredders in flood, you can actually stand on top of the bombs in that area and the shredders won’t hit you (as long as the tank keeps the flamethrowers out of range).

Why is resto shaman the only healer that uses mana
As a MW, I use a lot of mana. You just don’t really see me using it because I’m drinking mana tea on cooldown because why wouldn’t you want insane mana regeneration and reduced mana cost on spells?

Please either stop watching +15 videos or at least watch the whole stream
Not sure why I’m being downvoted when part of the post we are commenting on attributes to mistakes DPS make. By the way the point the OP was making is a vast majority of people out there can’t do what we are seeing people do in 15s. That’s not just a tank thing it’s a whole party thing. Which includes interrupts. Not standing in the bad. Using healing CDs properly, tank using mitigations properly. It’s a team game when you’re talking m+.
Also, stop overreacting I didn’t say pull 1 mob at a time, I was agreeing with OP by saying you don’t have to do the things that you see very skilled players do. Instead of doing the giga pull, do it in 2 pulls. The extra 30 seconds you add, saves you potentially a minute or more on deaths on the timer, death rolling, and the pull taking way longer to kill because people kept standing in the bad and dying, and having to run back. I’ve seen 10 deaths just in that first pull alone on flood because people get hit by the fire, they don’t know what to do about the saw blades, or they accidentally run too far one way or the other and accidentally pull more things.
Please read a whole comment, and the post it’s attached to, before jumping down someone’s throat.

Please either stop watching +15 videos or at least watch the whole stream
Say it louder for the people in the back! I’m so tired of flood being one of the only dungeons I can’t time in a +10 because dps can’t stay out of the bad, and they don’t interrupt half the shit they need to interrupt. The amount of times I’ve seen a melee dps run away from the mob that’s channeling the laser on them WHILE THEY HAVE INTERRUPT OFF OF CD is seriously disheartening. Just use the fucking interrupt and we all win.
I think some people need to learn or relearn that slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. We don’t have to pull massive if it means we will have 10 deaths before the first boss. That’s too much time off the timer. It would be quicker if we just did the big pull in 2 or even 3 pulls if it means we don’t wipe or have a high level of deaths.

Is this normal?
Long time MW here, currently working on timing all keys in +10 (at 5/8 right now). First, I highly recommend having mana tea on your bars, I think it’s one of the best parts about being a MW is having literally ZERO downtime even after a series of pulls that leaves me at like 40% mana. Also most tanks in higher keys chain pull, the timers start to feel really tight the higher up you go especially if there are dps issues, so while it might feel elitist right now I don’t think it really is.
That being said, for a +6 you shouldn’t have to be working that hard haha. It looks like that guy was doing what my buddy who tanks does as a warrior - abuses the shit out of you because enveloping + vivify on instant cast means they don’t have to spend as much rage on mitigation and can instead spend on damage. It’s frustrating as hell because he will actually get people whispering him or saying in chat “wow prot war carried this dungeon” and he always responds “nah I got carried by the healer, I only pressed a defensive for tank busters”. Meanwhile I’m over here sweating trying to keep up with healing a tank health pool on top of party wide damage. Is what it is though, the damage does get us pretty far and I like timing keys so I live with it.
So, the pulls that warrior did were probably correct, but they were an absolute dick for not spending on mitigations. At the level I’m playing at right now, no matter what tank someone is using, as long as they are playing their class well I usually only need to look at them to toss a vivify at their health bar like 4x per dungeon. Everything else is teachings/gust heals or party heals. It’s very easy to spot the people who aren’t as comfortable with their tank spec especially DH and paladins because a good one their health bar doesn’t seem to move much but the bad ones you’re going to be working overtime to keep them alive. Same can go with warrior if they aren’t keeping shield block up and aren’t spending on IP.

Came home to this. Please tell me it will get better
You should absolutely crate train her. It’s not cruel, it’s actually a hell of a lot better than what you’re doing right now. It will give her a space to feel safe and decompress and be relaxed while you’re gone. She did this because she was anxious and didn’t know what to do so she took it out on her surroundings.
Our girl loves her crate. When we leave, we put her in there and she just sleeps the whole time till we get back. We actually leave the crate door open while we are home and she regularly puts herself in it to sleep and just have “her” time. It’s her safe place. (She usually goes in there after we go for a long walk or play, or after she eats).
For the first year we actually had a crate in our bedroom for her to sleep in as well but we have gone past that now and the last couple of years she just has a bed at the foot of our bed that she absolutely adores lol.
Just reinforce your girl that the crate is a good, happy place. We did this by first opening the crate door and throwing treats inside to get her to go in and eat it, and giving her praise when she went in there. After a few times we would stop throwing treats in there, at which point she started to offer going into the crate in an attempt to earn a treat, which we absolutely rewarded her for with a treat and lots of praise. After that, we just kept the door open and repeated the process, when she offered we rewarded. From there it was baby steps, close the crate door (while standing there) for like a few seconds and then open the door and of course reward and praise for being so brave! From that point we just worked on getting her comfortable being alone in the crate. I honestly think on the first day of crate training she got the hang of it in like an hour it was pretty incredible.
Just be consistent, and don’t forget to daily reinforce that the crate is a good place. NEVER use the crate as a punishment. Don’t make that thing negative for her, ever. I think after a week or so of crate training our girl wasn’t bothered at all with being in the crate. The first night I think she cried like once or twice and then fell asleep. After that it was all good - yes, I know we were lucky!

I got asked today if I'm a new player
My response to non-meta hate (been a mistweaver for years even when they “sucked”) is this: “Did we time the key? Did we have deaths related to my inability to heal, or, are most of our deaths related to the dps not being able to do mechanics for trash and bosses and dying to them?”
Usually shuts them up most of the time. It is VERY rare that dungeons fail to either tank or healer skill deficit especially anything over 5’s because generally people who push into KSM and beyond in those roles actually know what they’re doing. The reason keys fail most of the time is dps dying to mechanics, or dps failing dps checks.
And before people say “you’re just hating on dps” just know that every tank and healer has one thing on their mind each pull: if I die, and there’s no brez (which needs to be saved for a critical moment ideally), this will cost us 5 deaths on the timer.” - that right there is enough inspiration to do better.

Genuine question for IT Managers
I had several people apply to my helpdesk position with at least 2-4 years of experience, all certified, etc., but they all had some “red flags” on their resumes like bad formatting, misspelled words, cheap resume tactics like making every bullet point a percentage with no data to back those percentages up.
The guy I ended up hiring only hand one 6 month contract, no certifications. In fact they hadn’t been employed for about 2 months. However, while talking with them I learned that they were frustrated with how difficult it was to get into the IT industry where we live, so they ended up starting their own computer repair business so they could get experience while they were out of a job and actually had 10 clients they had been working with. I am a sucker for people who are not afraid to take ownership of the things they are struggling with and working to find a solution.
I don’t regret my decision at all. 6 months in, we had an all-staff meeting (we are at a small business with ~250 people), everyone had the opportunity to elect an employee of the year - fhe CEO told me afterward that my helpdesk guy had received the second highest amount of votes. After only being here for 6 months!
I look for quality. Sometimes I get hoodwinked but usually they sort themselves out before their 3 months are up.
Edit: thought I would clarify the red flags on resume thing. I know it might sound harsh, but if you’re asking me to trust you with our systems, and asking me to trust you that you can pay attention to small details, etc., then I expect you to at least put in enough effort on your resume to have everything correct. If you can’t put the effort in to get the job, then you certainly won’t put the effort in when you have the job. I understand spelling errors happen, I have probably typed like crap on my phone just writing this comment, but if you’re trying to get a job, at least put the effort in to make your resume as good as it can be to demonstrate you can pay attention to detail.

AIO? He told me to choose him or my dog..
Sounds like you’re going to have a stress free life without your ex boyfriend.
Also if you don’t want to break up with him and you want to keep your dog, it’s EXTREMELY important that your boyfriend trains the dog. With dogs, the rules can reset, person to person. Not only that but it will help them forge a bond/relationship that will smooth all these things over.
However, dogs are a great judge of character. I’d trust the dog and ditch the guy. It’s easier, cheaper, and sets you up for a better life.

AIO my friends bf throws a hissy fit everytime we try to hangout recently
I’m just gonna say I’d never talk to my wife like that, and if anyone talked to my sister like that they’d have just fucked around enough to find out. This guy is an abusive deadbeat. He’s going to hurt her, mentally as well as eventually physically. She needs to ditch him before something bad happens. He doesn’t really care about her if he says “fuck you” to you, and he doesn’t care about her if he calls her a “dumb fuck”.
She needs to learn to respect herself so that other people know it’s not acceptable to disrespect her the way that boy is right now.
Edited because I got so heated I was using the wrong pronouns.

AIO or is my boyfriend
I don’t think it’s wrong to have friends of the opposite sex but in my experience as time goes on you kinda just…filter them out naturally. I used to have friendships with several women that I went to college with, and since we all got married we have all kind of just…stopped haha. I think the only woman I’m friends with right now outside of my wife is my friends wife, and really that’s because we all play dungeons and dragons together haha.
My wife never gave me an ultimatum or anything but idk it just seems like that kind of thing eventually happens. That being said your boyfriend is being completely insecure. This is his problem, not yours. You’ve already demonstrated you’re not going to cheat on him, he should remember that.

AIO my fiance spent 600 on gacha
For small stuff every now and then my wife and I have agreed that we don’t need to talk to each other about it but I still talk to my wife about a $60 game that’s coming out because it’s our money and if that money could be better spent elsewhere I’d rather do that because our needs come before my wants. It’s a partnership that’s just how it works. He’s not ready for marriage, he’s got a huge addiction issue, and if you stay with him he will bring you to financial ruin.

Man stands his ground against an armed robber
When I was 16, the day after I had gotten into a motorcycle accident I was at work at CVS (I knew I didn’t need to go but I liked money). I was sitting on my stool at the counter, this couple comes in. They tell me I should give them a couple of cartons of cigarettes. I ring the cartons up, and they look at me and they say “no, you should give those to us now, we aren’t paying.” I said “look guys tonight’s really not a great night to mess with me I’ve got a broken rib and all I want to do right now is finish my shift and go home. Either pay or go idc what you do.” They looked at me for like 2 seconds, then left. The next day I got a phone call from my manager, asking me to come to the store because the police were there and needed me for some reason. When I got there, they asked me about the couple they had seen on camera talking to me. I told them what happened, and the officer that was asking me questions said “well you’re lucky. They left here, went across the street to Subway, and robbed them at knife point.” Idk why they didn’t try to rob me lol I guess they were convinced I already had enough. I still can’t believe that it happened.

Are the wages out here really this bad? Or am I just not looking in the right places
Lower cost of living = lower wages overall. That being said, I think the cost of living is going up much faster than businesses in this area can keep up with which is going to become a huge problem probably sooner than we think.
A business degree is super generic, to me that tells me you didn’t really have a specific career in mind before/during college, which makes your struggle post graduation understandable. I think it’s fantastic that you’re looking into a career though! Law is difficult but even around here it can pay well but I suspect you’ll “have to pay your dues” before you start making “real money”.
I work in IT and my wife works in healthcare. I’d say that IT in this area is pretty sparse and the pay is incongruent with what you “should” be making (I’m a director making about 40% of what I “should” actually be making). The healthcare scene around here is even more fucked than IT though. It doesn’t matter if you’re working at a hospital or a private practice - if you’re not a doctor or nurse practitioner you’re going to be used and abused and not compensated well for it. My wife was working for a cardiologist who had their own practice, and when she asked for a raise (from $15/hr to $18/hr) they told her they couldn’t even afford a $0.50/hr raise for her…this dude has literally bought a vineyard in California and launched his own wine line and drives around in a Porsche. It’s not that he can’t afford it he just doesn’t want to, and it’s been the same at the last 3 places she’s worked at. Where she’s at now the doctor actually pays a fair wage but my wife kinda feels stuck now because if she goes anywhere else she’s looking at losing $10/hr because nowhere else would even think about considering what she makes. It’s outrageous to me that the healthcare industry in this area things it’s totally okay to pay people in positions where they literally save lives, less than some fast food chains pay their high turnover, low skill positions.
Sorry for the rant, I just really feel for the people in the medical field around here. It’s absurd especially with how much money is in that industry, there’s no excuse it’s literally just pure greed.

This dog is kicking my ass
Teaching ours to be okay with just sitting around and doing nothing was probably the single best decision we made with her. For her to accept that doing nothing is good.
As I’m writing this, she got up, looked at me and my wife to see if we were gonna do anything (spoilers, we are not. We are watching tv lol), and once she saw us not look at her she walked to her crate (which she absolutely loves), laid down, and took a massive sigh (which I’ve read is their way of letting everything out and getting into a relaxed state). She’ll be like that until one of us moves and then we’ll probably have a 5-10 minute fetch session, but yeah…teach yours that it’s okay and good to not depend on you for entertainment, and that it’s okay to do nothing. You won’t regret it.

Dr recommendations!
Dr. Carrat has been great for me. He also may have some really great recommendations for a neurologist. He got me set up with an ophthalmologist and retina specialist for some issues I was having and they were amazing recommendations. He’s in Daytona.

AIO? Husband tried to choke me but didn't do it "as forcefully as he could have" so it doesn't count?
Stop making excuses and concessions for someone who doesn’t value you or your wellbeing. Document, report, restraining order, divorce, never give him another minute of your time.
I could never imagine a circumstance where I’d harm anyone I love, especially my wife. Anyone who is capable of making those kinds of decisions doesn’t deserve to have a significant other.
Staying with him increases the likelihood that he will kill you one day. He already knows he can and I get the vibe he’s thought about it. Please safely remove yourself from him.

AIO: My boyfriend hit me and I want to break up with. He claims it wasn't a real hit.
I cannot imagine hitting my wife or hurting her for any reason. If he’s willing to do that, he’s capable of worse. You’re not overreacting, get out before it’s too late and don’t listen to any lies he tells you.

Sure you can, just don’t say it explicitly. I’m an IT director, I’ve had tons of applicants over the years who have applied with clearly expired certs listed. Most of the time they just put the year it was obtained. They don’t say whether or not it is expired or not.
Then, during the interview, if I really care, I can ask, “hey I see on your resume that you have x certification listed, is that up to date or expired?”
Half the time I really don’t care. Like you said, experience matters more than certs or degrees. It’s one thing to know the OSI model, it’s an entirely different thing to apply what you know about it to help resolve issues, etc.
Sorry you let your cert lapse, good luck on your future ventures!
Edit: just realized it seems like you might already have the job and that’s what the snag is. That’s a bit rough, but also like you said yourself - you already passed once before and now you have experience as well. You’ll do great! Get it asap haha.
