New podcast that's currently video and Patreon backer only. It'll soon come in audio format to all podcast services.
From Tim on discord: "note: podcast is currently backer-only and video-only, though we will release an audio version on streaming platforms soonish as we figure scheduling and production out. i feel creepy gatekeeping and also do not "understand" "making money" so if you'd like to spare me the discomfort of considering speaking narc words, please do not share the link to this podcast with non-patreon backer friends and acquaintances in public channels that i am in and reading (lmao)"

There is a video where Tim talks about his high school English teacher and the trite board. I can’t remember what video it is. Anybody know?

I always figured it was an affectation for his "Video Game Expert" character. I just read his seemingly non-kayfabe essay "Japan: It's Not Funny Anymore" and was struck by the casual profanity. Can anyone testify?

Tim has been a huge inspiration to me in just how incredible he is at writing and conveying his thoughts. I'm nowhere near that good, but his work has inspired me over the years to approach how I want to tell my thoughts, feelings and stories on things in my own weird way.
I've been making YouTube videos since I was about 11 years old and am currently a video editor for multiple YouTube channels in the VTuber sphere of things. It's also my "job" if you could call it that. In my free time I've always wanted to try and make videos here and there and right now with the Nintendo Switch 2 coming out I wrote something short in a night to pay tribe and say goodbye to a console that really helped me be more positive on a day to basis.
Thanks for checking it out!

The longer you stare or comment on a cook while they are cooking the worse the food will be.
Hit the blunt and let Tim and his content come to you. Imagine trying to get excited for your video work when all you read is comments from people expect you to feed them. Go read book use your imagination 💭 imagine the next time video idk

I like his content and I am chill with him taking this long. It'll be good when it comes out.
No angle. I just think he's great at analysis.

Tim told a story that at the Final Fantasy XII release, the fan who was interviewed said something like "Please remake FF VII for the PS3." I feel like I have a vague memory of that happening as well, but I haven't been able to find anything quickly that says the quote happened. Is there any digital footprint of the FF XII release to look at or anything that shows the quote? Or is it another Tim fantasy story that I'm just imagining I also remember? I'm just curious because people around me are getting into final fantasy and I like using this story to describe how big VII was.

hope this okay to post here -- Tim did contribute to it in various ways according to things he's mentioned on streams. incredibly exciting news for both of them. previous winners include popular masterpieces such as Outer Wilds and Return of the Obra Dinn. she beat out UFO 50, Indika, and Thank Goodness You're Here, among others.

I'm just curious because I feel like I've seen him say in videos that he could be reached on discord and made himself out to be reasonably accessible, I reached out to him on discord and patreon a long time ago with what I thought was a polite question and appreciation for his work and was totally ignored.
To be clear, creators don't owe anyone anything, I was just surprised by him letting people know how to get in touch but then ignoring someone that does so for a couple years. So I'm curious if that's been the case for other people as well.
I believe I had asked him if he had ever written anything regarding the Silent Hill series and about the thematic elements being reinforced via the design, and if he had any recommendations for other games that did something similar and the Japanese approach to design versus the western approach, just tried to make it something thoughtful and interesting as opposed to "when is the next video coming out" or whatever.

Man's taking an age. 2.5 years now. I turned it on again after he had his hold-up, out of sympathy, but that dividend has been used up now.
Give me a nudge if he does anything of substance and I might start it again.

At 4:06:27 in a section where Tim talks about revisiting favorite things instead of just reminiscing, he shows a picture or scene with sunflowers in the foreground and the spires of a cathedral in the background. I jumped out of my chair, because it looked distinctly like the cathedral in my home town. So, I compared the two and I'm convinced that's 100% my home town he references as one of his favorite cities.
It's not much of a city, more like a provincial town about 30 minutes away from Copenhagen, Denmark, by train.
The town is called Roskilde. The cathedral in the video is Roskilde Cathedral (where all the Danish royalty is buried).
If you want to know anything else (besides where exactly I live, of course), I don't mind sharing more info or opinion.

"It's all lies" is a lie. The OP of an earlier post that got removed obv misunderstood what Tim said because he was only talking about a few things in the distant past, not everything. If you've consumed Tim's content in the past, him speaking like that is true to form. He literally talks about how he communicates in a persona 100% of the time when he's public-facing. Not "everything" was a lie, he just mushed up things for effect, as like basically everyone does.
Here's some evidence. I don't want to spoil what was revealed in his Action Button dot net FFVI review, but there are some incredibly crazy, odd, and noteworthy things that happened to him and his community that he reveals. You can literally google them and they're real and true, at least the parts that are noteworthy enough to be found on google. (EDIT: Please don't go search for those things. Please read the entire review. You won't regret it.)
Him saying everything is a lie is a lie, and it was supposed to be obvious, at least to the people that consume his content enough to watch his livestreams.
EDIT2: Here's a link to the FFVI review. It's one of the best written things he's done IMHO.

I beat LA Noire and to be honest with you the “open world” part of the game is kinda bland… in a modern lens. I understand why Tim likes it. It’s minimalist, it facilitates the reason to have an over world, and it gives you tiny quests randomly to do while in the middle of an over arching quest.
the problem with games like ocarina had a lot of nothing in hyrule field. modern open worlds give you a trackable quest a second and you can totally disregard the main pressing quest.
i feel like LA Noire really intergrades their open world a lot better by making it boring. Also i like how you can’t just randomly punch civilians if you feel like it or “kill cops” cause you’re bored. it’s different in a good way.
