Activism/Protest Update: Cancelling Prime

Well, I've done it. Cut the cord and cancelled Amazon Prime. I can't say for certain what regrets I will have, and how unsettling it is to rely on local and ethical sources for things large and small that running my household requires, but I've done my research and am making a conscientious objection at last. I was unfailingly polite but firm, and the nice guy in the chat (you must request a refund in the chat) gave me 50% of my annual membership back. I've no confidence it will make any real difference in the world, but to my sense of honor. And my honor is worth it.

The only thing that keeps me from canceling is, I will be at a store and want to buy something and I compare it to the price on Amazon and Amazon is always cheaper

Yes, and then Bezos takes the money and donates it to Trump or shoots it into space or some anti-philanthropic thing that burns me up. I'd rather workers get decent wages and working conditions, and use what's left over to help folks around the world fight disease, poverty, exploitation, and apathy. I don't always know what companies do with profits, but it's obvious that Bezos ain't doing it.
