How do I get these marks off the chrome?

Hey guys hope you don’t mind me posting this. To be honest I have no clue what I’m doing. Is there any way to get rid of these water marks and get the chrome to shine again? I don’t really even know where to begin. Thanks

Chrome polish. Get some at Walmart/Autozone/Pep Boys/O’Reileys, anywhere. Wash your car, put some on a microfiber rag and buff it in. Do small sections like a foot at a time. Wipe off with another clean microfiber using the softer side if it has a harder side, and should be good as new.

Worked in a Mercedes dealership for years the side step is not chrome, the window surrounds can be polished only thing I found worked is a cutting compound and a rotary polisher. Would like to know if anyone has any other recommendations especially the side steps.

Real chrome will shine using Flitz metal polish and a buff wheel. No polish can help pitting.

For the window trim I use White Diamond Metal Polish. It’s so good it doesn’t even need mechanical polishing, though if they’re super scuffed you might. My wife’s old car had a bunch of this trim and they got terrible water spots. White Diamond would literally wipe away contaminants and leave it looking gorgeous.

As others have said, I believe the step to be metal with some other surface treatment, but not chrome. If you are interested in a way to lessen the appearance while you look for a more permanent fix: try any basic ceramic spray (I used Sonax Xtreme, easy to find in hardware stores in Europe). After washing the car, one or two sprays into the microfiber per side. Not much product at all, and spread it well over the trim. Mine were slightly less serious than yours, but I was surprised with the results. For polishing, I'll let the professionals advise.
