Hey together,

is the use of the Koche Chemie Quick Finish bad for my microfiber clothes? I have heard that detailers can destroy or harm the functionality of a microfiber cloth.

Product Discussion auto wax recommendations

Upvotes

I am using ONR solution to wash the exterior of my car and wanted to find out the pros and cons of various auto wax products and approaches such as liquid spray on wax versus hand wax paste and what product recommendations you recommend for waxing a luxury car after an exterior wash has been performed. I hate spending hours buffing paste wax but it does a nice job and wondering if this is better than say spray liquid wax and wipe off? What are your favorite auto wax products and why? I am new to auto detailing.

Tool Discussion Kranzle 1622TS wont run with Predator 5000w Inverter Generator

Upvotes

Hello Everyone,

I recently acquired a Kranzle 1622TS for my mobile detailing rig. I hooked it up to my generator and it won't turn on. I tried resetting and testing the power, and it works but when I let go of the trigger the GFCI outlet turns red, meaning it trips. When I connected the pressure washer to my garage outlet it worked fine. I've seen other detailers power Kranzles with a 3500w generator. Could anyone shed some light on this issue and give me some possible solutions?

Question First-time poster, long-time lurker: need help after debadging my 2018 Golf

Post image
1 Upvotes

Just removed the badges from my 2018 VW Golf for a cleaner look. Most of the adhesive came off cleanly, but there's still some leftover residue and what looks like light surface scratches or marring around the area.

Would using 3M Adhesive Remover followed by a clay mitt and a polish/sealant combo be the right approach here? Or am I better off taking it to a professional/detailing shop to avoid making things worse?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Product Discussion Suntek Reaction mil measurement

If you have Suntek Reaction installed on a vehicle and know the paint thickness prior to install, should the final measurements be 8 mil thicker consistently? What if it is not? Does this mean it would be something else like a lower grade PPF?

Thanks for any advice.

Question Surface Prep Spray Before and After Polish? (Ceramic Coat)

I plan to do a complete decontamination of my cars paint. Then finish by applying a ceramic coating. I don't really have any deep or noticeable swirl marks, so I won't be cutting into the clear coat. I will just skip straight to a polishing finish compound, with a polishing pad. Should I use the prep spray before I polish, then use it again before I ceramic coat over the freshly polished paint? Is there a time frame I should be aware of? Would the surface prep spray affect the polish? Should I polish the car, then just leave it over night, then the following day, use surface prep spray and then ceramic coat? How would you guys approach this? I really want to do this well.

Product Discussion Alternatives to Tsunami ceramic coating?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I had applied Tsunami 4.0 ceramic coating on my previous car for $500 (plus 4-year warranty, a discounted price at the dealership I worked at). But I wouldn’t be able to get the same price for my current car, so I’m wondering if there are cheaper alternatives that would have similar hydrophobic characteristics.

Thanks in advance!

I'm a relative noob. Only got interested in detailing about 9 months ago (with a new car purchase like most).

I used the DIY detail gold waffle pad and spray polish system on the Harbor Freight Hercules DA. Very happy with the ease of everything and the results.

Tool Discussion Diy parts for detailing

Do you use diy parts for your detailing?Or do you have ideas for new parts?

I have two tips for my wet/dry vacuum cleaner, printed in soft TPU. This is working very well. More suction power, no scratches, easy controllable in grooves, good for car seats.

Do you have ideas for diy tools or parts?

Question Karcher k4

Not sure if anyone can help me with this but I have a standard karcher k4. But I would like to get the manual hose reel for the back of it as I didn’t think at the time of buying it that the hose reel would be something I needed. Can I buy the reel for the premium k4 and directly swap out the hook for the reel? If anyone knows about this it would be much appreciated thanks 🙂

Question Alkaline prewash on Fusso wax

Hello,

I am interested in applying Fusso 12 month wax on my car and I was wondering how's its resistant to alkaline prewashes. Currently I am using Labocosmetica Primus 2.0 and Bilt Hamber Touch-Less for my prewash. Would they degrade it? If so, would you have any recommendations?

Thank you in advance!

Question Feeling like I have a bad PPF install

Thumbnail

Just picked up my Raptor R from PPF installer. They have 4.9 stars out of 5.

First issue I had was timeline. Dropped off on a Friday and they told me it would originally be done by Wednesday. When I checked in Tuesday the new day was Saturday. Claimed it was because PPF install is very detailed and they want to make sure it’s perfect. 12 hours after install I am finding lots of lifted edges, inconsistency in the trimming/cutting. Missing areas of PPF as well has pollen already getting under the edges. Should I give them the chance to fix and potentially keep my truck for another 8 days or just ask for a refund?

Tool Discussion Largest capacity foam cannon?

I boat in salt water and use a pressure washer with a foam cannon to de-salt the boat after every outing. I would like to find a foam cannon with a very large tank so I can cover the entire boat without refilling. 1.5 liter is the biggest I found. Before I McGuyver something, does anyone have a suggestion?

Technique Discussion Regarding Tar removal process

Hello,

This is my first time Tar removal.

I bought Carpro Tarx based on some videos I saw and how it can melt the tar.

This is how I am planning to go about it.

  1. First clean with touch less car wash.

2.Then apply the TarX in the required areas and let it dwell 2-3 minutes.

  1. What should I do here? Since it seems TarX is pretty strong, anything I need to do to protect the Paint/Clear coat or just rinsing with another round of Touchless car wash is enough?

Any help is appreciated.

(I do have ONR in case it can be used in a concentrated form and I have Turtle wax ICE Seal N Shine).

Hi! Would there be any interest in a robot that can automatically detail the car interiors? Say, it can vacuum, wipe and spray? What would be the most desired features for such a bot?

Business Question Looking for ideas for new detailing vehicle! What do you drive?

We are currently looking for a new vehicle for our detailing business. For the last 10-12 yrs we have driven Nissan NV 2500 Hi-Tops and have been happy with them. Well, they stopped making them. Of course. So now that we are needing to purchase a new rig, we aren’t sure what to get. So I thought I’d see what other detailers are using, and what they like (or dislike) about them, to help us in our search! TIA!

Post image

Hey Guys, I have ryobi pressure washer (Pic below) I was wondering if I can attach some sort of water flow restrictor meter to my spigot to control the flow of water to say may be 1.5 to save pressure washer hoses from bursting ? Is it something which is needed ? Currently, I don’t open the tap completely but was thinking there is some sort of meter which can tell me exactly what is my current flow rate ?

Working on this ford truck for my buddy. The previous owner or perhaps the one before that must have had a decal or magnet on the side. But rather than the fade you would expect, it has these. Is it possible to polish these out? What would you use?

Question I’m considering DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating – Looking for Feedback and Advice

Hey everyone – I’m thinking about applying a ceramic coating to the interior of my car and was looking at DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating specifically. Has anyone here used it? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences—how easy was the application, did it make a noticeable difference, and how has it held up over time?

Also, I’ve used Meguiar’s Interior Cleaner in the past for regular maintenance. Do I need to do any special prep before applying the ceramic coating to make sure it bonds properly?

If you’ve used other products that you’d recommend over DIY Detail, I’d love to hear about those too. Thanks in advance for any insight!
