Proves once again that there are good people out that that do amazing things and ask for nothing in return. That is what I was taught from a young age and what I have received in return (no you can't spend it) is immeasurable. Nothing which I have done can compare with this but I know I have changed lives and given opportunities. Maybe they remember maybe they don't, but I will always feel-good inside.
As much as I agree with your terminology, the word influencer is nowadays being overused ad nauseam in this age of ubiquitous social media and almost always coined after people who leverage their popularity online in order to profit off it.
Oftentimes their 'contribution' to society is trivial at best to downright disgusting at worse (Logan Paul, Johnny Somali, et al.).
So it cannot be overstated, but I would rather call this man a hero.
His selfless acts were the very definition of charity, aka helping others without any expectation of anything in return, other than their gratitude.
Therefore, anytime I see an 'influencer' talking about doing charity, or be described by others as being heroic, I vomit.
