General Should I transfer this raw honey into glass jars?

I just bought a case of 12 two pound containers. They are in sealed plastic jars. Should I take it out of the plastic and put it in glass for long term storage ? Or do you think they will be ok? Thanks for your help.

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Dryer sheets for Small Hive Beetle control?

I've heard that dryer sheets can trap SHB. Has anybody had any luck with them? Or is it just another BS thing that gets passed around on the internet.

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Help me out

Louisiana beekeeper here. (It’s asking me to put location)

I’m getting some hive covers cut out of this stuff. This guy has 8 frame lids but he’s cutting me some covers for 10 frame. What dimensions should I go with? I’ve only ever used covers with an overhang and that’s what I have now. Should I have an overhang with these or not?

What dimensions do you guys go for flat tops? (I’ll add a brick to the top as needed to keep em on)

Do you recommend these type of covers? He said they’d only be $5/each so I’m all over it

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question The hive is alive!

I have a question. Last year I lost both of my beehives and was so frustrated about it. I never went and cleaned out the hives. I planned on cleaning them out and starting in a year from now be keeping again. However, I checked my hive today and found That a new colony has moved in. What should I do? Should I open the box and clean out the old honeycomb hives. Should I put new slats in? I’m worried about pest. I also want to prevent the mistake of last year and whatever caused my bees to leave. Any advice is appreciated.

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Should I feed pollen to a new hive?

My first ever batch of bees are coming in about two weeks. [Midwest USA]

This is not a nuc, which was not available, but a "package" of bees.

I understand I should feed them simple syrup to get them started.

Some people also say to feed them pollen tablets?

But everything is starting to bloom in my area, so do I still feed them pollen, or let them find it naturally on their own? Fruit trees within 100 feet of them will be in full bloom.

I had a water dispenser that was unused so I gave it to my bees, cut some pool floaters down to ring sizes so beed can drink without having to worry about drowing. Saw one of my gals using it so I hope she spreads the word.

Nevada city, ca. One of my hives didn't make it through the winter. I. Pretty sure I'm seeing mite poop here. Just wanted to get some second eyes on this. I did treat them but this one seemed to lose the battle. My three other ones are doing great

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Demaree Split

Eastern Oregon, 4 hives, 2nd year

For those that are knowledgeable about demeree splits, is it fine to move the queen and all the capped brood (4 frames) to the bottom box with 6 foundation frames and all the open larva, eggs, and additional resource frames to the top box on a double deep then leave it like that for a few days with a queen excluder in-between the brood boxes? I'd come back a few days later, remove any queen cups and breaking apart the brood boxes moving the egg/larva box to the top above 2 supers? Would that work to prevent swarming or should I just do a walk away split?

My goal is to maximize honey production without losing bees to the trees.

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Queen Issues in Split

Last week on 4/4 I made my first split. I added a mated queen to the hive that I had purchased from another beekeeper. I went to the hive today and checked to be sure that she was released. The queen cage was empty and the candy plug had been eaten through. I didn’t have enough time to do a full inspection of the hive because of weather, but I didn’t see any signs of new eggs and I did see 4 capped emergency queen cells. How would you all suggest that I proceed? Thank you for you help.

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Will Demaree split effects act like two colonies? Can it be performed with capped swarm cells?

I’ve been tossing around the idea of doing a Demaree manipulation on one of my hives. I’m kind of in a pickle at the moment. I’m starting to see some swarm cells (none capped). The pickle is that the temperature will be cold a little this week (down to 38 F on Saturday night). My pickle is that if I wait too long I’ll have capped swarm cells. But if I make the manipulation, will 38 be too cold, and with the queen excluded and most of my bees up top, will be queen freeze to death? What can I do?

General Day 5 after installation, 60 degree weather. Hive is doing great!

I was tempted to do my first inspection after install since today marks the 5th day, but some of you guys/gals convinced me to wait about a week or more. I was worried about my girls since it was cold last night (low 40's), but they seem to be doing amazing today, from the looks of it the queen has been freed from her cage (looked through the entrance yesterday since the bees weren't active), and the foragers are bringing multiple colors of pollen so i hope the queen is in there laying. Will do an inspection at the 1 week mark since were supposed to have 80°F weather. Enjoy the video.

I’m not a beekeeper, but I have a question Can I mix warm honey with heated up propolis? Science type of question

Long story short I want to make a bee salve. Beeswax, propolis, honey, everything I can in it.

Problem is, honey is water soluble while beeswax and propolis are oil soluble. I’ll be adding carrier oils of course. I see others use honey in oil-soluble products and I don’t understand how they can do that? Wouldn’t it separate?

I bought beeswax from my local beekeeper, and the propolis from a small business online, so both are nice and pure as I love supporting small businesses. I am not sure if I should buy honey yet until I can figure out the science of this. It’s no big deal if I shouldn’t use honey, I just want to see what everyone here thinks before I pick some up.

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Installing a Nuc today. Should I feed while in a flow, or no?

Installing a nuc today into a 10 frame. 5 of the frames are just foundation. I’m in north FL, and we are in a nectar flow. Should I still feed to help them draw comb more easily? Or just let the bees do what they do?

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question 32 degrees - install new bees?

I’m in Maryland and my nuc is being delivered today, but it’s 32 degrees outside!! Is it okay to install them? What should I do?

Edit: today is high of 47 and sunny. The rest of the week is 50 and rain.

Immediately release queen or risk re-opening in a few days?

Also I have a top feeder and sugar syrup available.
