Donald Trump made a deal with El Salvador President, Nicolás Maduro, to take suspected Venezuelan gang members off his hands and house them in a prison for a year, which now has the President thinking about who else he can ship off to Central America.
Possibly he's been watching mob movies because he seemed to have this answer locked and loaded with his attention turning quickly to "wise guys."
On his way back from a golf outing in Florida, making his return to Washington DC via Air Force One, Trump answered some questions from reporters with one asking about Americans being shipped off to El Salvador.
Standing in the doorway of the plane bathroom, Trump chatted with reporters with one saying President Maduro was willing to take American citizens into the federal prison population, asking Trump what he thought about it.
Trump said: "I love that. If we could take some of our 20 time wise guys that push people into subways and hit people over the back of the head and purposely run people over in cars, if he would take them, I would be honored to give them.
He added: “I don't know what the law says on that ... I'm all for it.”
“If they can house these horrible criminals for a lot less money than it costs us, I’m all for it.”
Last month the administration sent three planeloads of Salvadoran and Venezuelan deportees to El Salvador's notorious “Terrorism Confinement Center," claiming, without evidence, they were all gang members of Tren de Aragua. CECOT is an infamous mega-prison built to cruelly imprison up to 40,000 inmates. They arrived after Trump's deportation was seemingly halted by a court decision.
