Listen, as a Native woman shit like this is so unbelievably cringe. Get it together and go fight back like the rest of us have for literally hundreds of years. Shit, this ain’t nothing.

u/MissMenace101 11h ago

Yeah fight for better, because if you don’t even if you get out your people suffer.

Not sure who my people are but they certainly didn't set this country up. And I absolutely will, but have you ever heard of putting your oxygen mask on first? Also not sure you understand how bad its going to get here.

Do you belong to a targeted group (green-card holder, LGBTQ+, etc.) because if you do not, please stay and protest and vote. We need sensible people to stand their ground and show this administration that we are in charge, not them. That we will stand up to them and do whatever it takes to get this country back. Don't just post online, talk to people, attend protests, join a group. If all the reasonable people run away we are letting them win, and they CANNOT win.

That said, if you are a member of a targeted group, I would actually get out.

What is it white Americans say to migrants? “Stay home and fix your own country” 😂 I actually don’t believe in borders period but that’s just me.

u/aww_jeez_my_man 15h ago

Absolutely! I am absolutely planning on protesting until the very moment when it doesn't seem reasonable anymore. Realistically i don't think I will have the opportunity to leave until things get truly desperate anyways.

From a fellow American: This administration is flooding the zone, sowing division, destroying the economy, and trying to erase history, not because they are strong but because they are weak. To succeed, they need us to despair. Don't give them that.

The damage they're doing is affecting the whole world, and this is on us: Contact your representatives, vote, get involved in mutual aid groups, volunteer, get others involved, boycott, protest, and be prepared to do more than holding signs (sit-ins, strikes, etc.). No one is coming to save us.

This is a great point, definitely something to keep in mind. Had a fun time myself at the protests last Saturday 😁

Are you in danger of being prosecuted for existing? If not, stay away and fix your country. We won't help those that jump ship for greener pastures.

OP (and anyone else but the time suits more for those in the Northern Hemisphere time zone), US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (Washington 7th congressional district) is running a virtual, free training for people interested in forming grassroots movements. It’s on Sunday 13th April. You can learn more about it and sign up here: https://www.mobilize.us/pramilaforcongress/event/771833/

Isn't Americas 2nd amendment that the world constantly gets told about supposed to be for a situation exactly like this though?

I've been personally told and have read plenty of times by some really smug people that due to their 2nd amendment, freedom and their guns if there is ever a fascist tyrannical regime that comes to power in America then the people will instantly rise up and forcefully put a stop to it.

Are all the people who've spouted that crap specifically just the ones who voted for this regime? Or was it all just empty words trying to push some weird kind of superiority?

I feel for the innocent people who are going to be victimised in the US but if less than half the population voted for this shit then surely the rest should be putting a stop to it now it's clear what trump and musk are doing shouldn't they?

14

u/MissMenace101 11h ago

Yep, murica needs to get on with their civil war already, it’s really a pain in the ass for the real world that just wants to go about their shit

1

u/aww_jeez_my_man 9h ago

Ehh yeah idk in my opinion that's a lie the right has been telling their base for a long time, like the myth that we have free speech in this country. Like our first amendment says that we should be able to speak for what we believe in, but its illegal to speak out against genocide so i guess that doesn't matter anymore

3

u/Ok_Row_4920 9h ago

Ye I never believed it was genuine or realistic but you guys have so many weapons and so many people I was expecting there would be at least some groups who would've got together and tried to do something significant. It just seems so anticlimactic and sad as someone on the outside looking in. Do you have reasonable militias or at least non crazy right wing ones there, or do those kinds of groups only attract the unhinged types?

2

u/aww_jeez_my_man 9h ago

Theres starting to be more but guns have been so politicized that really it is mostly the crazy people that have the guns

2

u/Ok_Row_4920 8h ago

Ah fair enough, I wasn't trying to put you on the spot or call you out. It's just such a common thing that people like myself here in the UK often hear, usually paired with mocking and incorrect knowledge of our weapon laws that I guess I thought that kind of mentality was more common than it is.

I wish you all the best and hope you and your loved ones are able to keep safe.

2

u/aww_jeez_my_man 8h ago

No right? I totally understood why you brought it up its no worries

2

u/GF_baker_2024 7h ago

We do not have sane militias. They're the sort of people who blew up the federal building in Oklahoma City 30 years ago, tried to kidnap and assassinate my state's governor 5 years ago, and caused an insurrection at the US Capitol 4 years ago. They were told by 45 to "stand down and stand by," and they've I expect that once he declares martial law, he'll sic them on the majority of Americans, who didn't vote for him and don't own guns.

As much unnecessary pain and grief 45 is causing the rest of the world, please remember that his number 1 enemy is the American public. He wants to destroy everyone who opposes him and does not care if his supporters are collateral damage.

Most developed countries already have take in significant numbers of refugees, and the refugee issue is politically fraught. They are never going to start taking refugees from other developed countries I'm afraid, plus the Trump regime would blow a gasket if that happened (although given how fast US foreign relations are declining it perhaps wouldn't make so much of a difference).

3

u/aww_jeez_my_man 9h ago

We aren't going to be a developed country for long. Trump is about to destroy our economy, and as soon as cars become too expensive for the average person were totally fucked. I mean nobody has access to public transportation, so either you move to the cities or you don't participate in the economy. It is about to get very very bad in the United States

12

u/TakitishHoser Canada 15h ago

I hope Americans stay & reclaim what you've lost.

Your country has been & always will be more than the politicians who run it. The US founding fathers knew that the allegiance should be to the constitution, not to the president or politicians.

Vote in the mid terms (although a ways away).

I say that about the friendship between Americans & Canadians too. Our Prime Minister said the relationship we had with the USA is over. Politicians don't decide that, our people do. Stay strong neighbour.

6

u/MissMenace101 11h ago

Change the fucking voting system, it’s supposed to prevent this from happening, it’s pretty clear it’s failed catastrophically

3

u/M100Pilot 7h ago

The problem is this isn’t citizen vs government, this is citizen vs citizen. Half of US citizens are using the government to actively hurt the other half of citizens. There’s no chance of Americans uniting against the government. They hate each other.

3

u/Harbinger2001 7h ago

The American Civil War never ended. It just became a Cold War that is heating up again.

2

u/M100Pilot 7h ago

Sadly it is looking more and more like the case.

14

u/jameskchou 15h ago

Russia is open to American refugees who are trying to escape American wokeness or just hate the US government

4

u/MissMenace101 11h ago

Only catch is conscription 🤷🏼‍♀️

u/sarcasmismygame 8h ago

Sorry but at this point there is nowhere safe to go to and every country is now dealing with tariffs and/or war threats from Murica. Trudeau did this at the beginning of Queen Tariffa's first term in Canada and it overwhelmed our systems. We have a huge backlog here already from refugees from Ukraine and other countries and with the job and housing market here there is little to zero chance of taking people in unfortunately.

You need to stay and fight there instead because wherever you go there are now extremists and a chance to slide into the ugliness that is now America. I blame social media for this shit with good old TikTok and Xhitter and Meta trying to meddle in our upcoming elections ugh! Try to get your buddies, coworkers and family OFF social media, work together with like-minded people and I encourage deleting all social media apps that were at the inauguration, not using Amazon and NOT spending money to big corporations. That hurts worse than anything else. Hit 'em in the pocketbooks!

If you want to emigrate, you should prepare yourself.
Think about which destination country is right for you and what job you would like to do there.
Check your qualifications and language skills and make sure you are at a good level there.
Familiarise yourself with the local culture and consider to what extent you are prepared to integrate (not assimilate!)
If everything fits: good luck.

Yes i have been learning Spanish, and a bit of Arabic and Chinese but im way farther behind on those

1

u/Miss_Annie_Munich Europe 7h ago

Maybe you should first decide where you want to go before you focus on your language skills

0

u/aww_jeez_my_man 7h ago

Probably a good point adhd doesn't help with that either 😅

2

u/Accurate-Neck6933 15h ago

What do you do for work?

3

u/MissMenace101 11h ago

Yep, you have brains trust, we would take that, I mean that’s how America got so powerful, leeching the rest of the world dry

2

u/aww_jeez_my_man 9h ago

Just basic manufacturing, like on an assembly line

1

u/castlite 5h ago

You need to stay and fix your shit.

u/Harbinger2001 7h ago

Check out Canada’s express entry program. If you have skills Canada’s looking for, you can get into the immigration program much faster.

Why should anyone take in Americans as refugees? What a joke. I am firmly for Canadian <> US unity, but can we stop being fucking ridiculous, please? This is the first time Americans of this generation are dealing with severe political issues, and the first reaction is (as it often is when things don't go your way) to run away to Canada or some other more liberal country. Piss off! Make your own country better instead of being a coward and fleeing at the first sign of discomfort.

1

u/Cerraigh82 6h ago

Seriously! They wreck their country and then come crying for refuge. Fix your shit. We don't want you.

1

u/aww_jeez_my_man 5h ago

Id love to hear how you think this is my fault 😊 (voted for biden and harris, plus the midterms too, im 23 so those are the only possible times i could have voted) please id love to hear why this is my fault it would make my fucking day

2

u/taco____cat Canada 5h ago

This helps illustrate my point really well. Americans are, by and large, deeply selfish and individualistic. They're taught from birth through propaganda to believe that they're the best, most important/influential country in the world and, therefore, as Americans, they too are the best, most important... you get it. Real center-of-the-universe type stuff.

Anyway, reread what I wrote and quote where you, personally, were blamed for anything. Take a breath. Not everything is an attack.

The rest, I stand by. It's absurd that a country with a history as long as its own of pushing around other countries, influencing their governments, trying to impose Western ideals on them, executing leaders, murdering civilians through war, etc,. etc. would expect that its citizens would be welcomed as refugees during times of their own political unrest. Have some perspective. Read a history book.
