Why should anyone take in Americans as refugees? What a joke. I am firmly for Canadian <> US unity, but can we stop being fucking ridiculous, please? This is the first time Americans of this generation are dealing with severe political issues, and the first reaction is (as it often is when things don't go your way) to run away to Canada or some other more liberal country. Piss off! Make your own country better instead of being a coward and fleeing at the first sign of discomfort.

This helps illustrate my point really well. Americans are, by and large, deeply selfish and individualistic. They're taught from birth through propaganda to believe that they're the best, most important/influential country in the world and, therefore, as Americans, they too are the best, most important... you get it. Real center-of-the-universe type stuff.

Anyway, reread what I wrote and quote where you, personally, were blamed for anything. Take a breath. Not everything is an attack.

The rest, I stand by. It's absurd that a country with a history as long as its own of pushing around other countries, influencing their governments, trying to impose Western ideals on them, executing leaders, murdering civilians through war, etc,. etc. would expect that its citizens would be welcomed as refugees during times of their own political unrest. Have some perspective. Read a history book.
