Content/Multimedia Best way to get a sticker off a car

Post image
Upvotes

This sticker has been on my car for several years. I honestly thought I'd end up scrapping the car eventually so put stickers (not stickers sold for a car, just normal stickers!) on the outside but it turns out there's some resale value so I'm giving it a good clean. What's the best way of removing the sticker without damaging the paint? The others have just peeled off but this is stuck fast! I'm in the UK so UK based recommendations would be great. Thank you!

Discussion Is this a normal amount of dust to accumulate in one small room in under 48 hours? I feel like I’m going crazy

Post image

I sweep and vacuum my entire house every 2 days. An insane amount of dust accumulates in that time. We have 2 cats, but they’re entirely indoors and we brush them pretty often. I run an air purifier 24 hours a day and regularly clean and replace the filters. We never wear shoes inside the house. The house is heated with baseboard hot water heaters, so there’s no vents for dust to gather in and get pushed up through. There is no HVAC system of any kind in the house so not great ventilation, but even then I feel like this is crazy for under 48 hours since I last cleaned the floor, in just one small room of the house. Or is this just normal? Part of it is also that the floors are laminate/engineered hardwood so there are no cracks or crevices for things to settle into, so it all sits on top. But I’ve never lived in a house that accumulated this much dust so quickly. Is there anything I can do, or just keep cleaning?

Discussion Moved into rental home and it gets very dusty due to the flooring. Will it settle?

Post image

Whenever we close up everything and leave the house, the floor releases a lot of dusty which results in the air being very dusty when we get back home. This settles when we ventilate the house. Will this settle with time or should we bring it up with the landlord?

Thank you

Furniture How to get old cat paté stink out of microfiber couch cushion?

Post image
4 Upvotes

My cat ate a bunch of wet food and then vomited it all over one of the top cushions of my microfiber couch. Absolutely horrid-smelling. I was able to get it looking perfectly clean, but the smell lingers. I tried a couple of "pet odor" sprays, febreze etc but none seem to help. The cover is also not removable unfortunately, so I'm afraid the smell permeated the stuffing of the cushion. Photo for reference, this is the affected area.

Post image

I haven’t used my electric toothbrush in about two years (i have been brushing my teeth dw😂😂) and i’ve decided to start using again. I took it out of the case and the back grippy bit has gone yellow and sticky. I tried cleaning with soap and water but it didn’t make a difference. I don’t mind if it’s stained but i’d really like to get rid of the stickiness if possible. Any advice on how to do this? Thanks :))

Discussion Vinegar, soap, water...smell?

Upvotes

I don't have a fully functioning nose, so the smell of vinegar doesn't bother me but my husband isn't wild about it. Would adding citrus essential oil help?

Kitchen accidentally used dish soap in the dishwasher. will the suds ever fking stop?

when i saw the suds overflowed everywhere i did the initial floor/cabinet damage control, then came on to this sub and followed some tips. i emptied the dishwasher contents, all the suds, and fully dried the inside of the dishwasher. i threw a cup of vinegar into the empty dishwasher and put on a second cycle. i walked over moments later to see suds everywhere AGAIN... this was supposed to be my redemption cycle yall. so i threw some salt in to help absorb some suds before cleaning and drying it for the second time. now i don’t know how to move forward. i have ptsd (post traumatic stress from dishwasher). please save me from having to clean a third time. damn lol

General Cleaning How to deodorize subflooring after removing carpet

Upvotes

Previous owner had a dog, and the poor pup was left on his own too much, maybe even neglected.

Urine and feces stained carpet has been removed, but the plywood subflooring is smelly and stained.

How to clean and deodorize this rough plywood surface?

Laundry help me out if my clothes smell bad/ nose blindness

Upvotes

i had a bad episode of depression the entire spring break and didn't clean my apt and it started smelling like really bad of food waste. my classes start soon and I was able to wash my clothes but I fear the smell of the room has stuck to the clothes. I am gradually trying to make myself clean up. My clothes (both old ones and freshly washed ones) don't have any smell is what I believe but I think it might be nose blindness. I'm very anxious if everytime I go out whether I smell like food waste or not. Is it possible to check if my clothes actually have smell?

p.s. English is not my native language sorry for any mistakes if any.

Laundry Hair, everywhere!

I have long hair and also have trichotillomania, so it's everywhere. My current bugbear is finding it in clean washing, it goes in with the clothes and sheets and comes out either embedded in them, or in little hairballs. Is there anything I can put in the washer to collect it all up? Any tips gratefully received, I don't want to have to start lint rolling my washing!

General Cleaning How to Remove Strong Factory Chemical Smell from New Backpack?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a new Alo backpack and it has that strong factory chemical smell—kind of plasticky and harsh. I left it in my closet for a day or two, and now the entire closet smells like it. I’ve been running an air purifier in there to clear it out, and I moved the backpack to a different closet on the other side of the house.

I’ve let it air out a bit, but the odor is still going strong. Any tips or home remedies that have actually worked for removing this kind of smell from bags? I’d really prefer not to return it if I can help it.

Thanks in advance!

Don't ask how, I had to put my wet white jeans inside my bag, and all the microfibres from the inside lining of the bag stuck onto the jeans. Any idea how I can clean this stuff or should I give it for dry cleaning? Any tips would be helpful.
