Moving digital art programs, any recommendations?

Hi! I have been using digital art on my phone for about 8 years now and have been a MediBang Paint loyalist this entire time. I’ve tried other programs over the years but none really stuck with me. Now, MediBang is entirely infested with ads and it’s getting unbearable. The final straw was them locking brushes that I have been using freely for almost a decade behind their “premium” features.

Do any of y’all have any recommendations for something similar or at least containing the same amount of content (I;e stabilizers, undo button, fill tools, custom brushes, etc)? I’ve heard good things about Procreate but I’m on the fence as the pocket version has a 3.8 rating and isn’t available on the computer which I use to connect to my drawing pad. It’s really sad to lose an app that has years worth of content on it, but if I can’t even use the brushes I’ve grown to love AND I’m getting ads every other minute, I have no other choice.

Is medibang not a one time purchase to own?

It’s a “free” app that used to have minimal ads and some paid content. Now, it seems they rolled out some premium subscription and locked a lot of their previously free content. You can watch an ad to reunlock the brushes for 3 hours, but this came with like no warning and I draw in a lot of places with zero service so this wouldn’t work for me long term.

I paid for some brushes years ago but they locked those back up when I switched phones, which is also why I’m refusing to pay for their premium.

This is a really long winded way to say, no it’s not a one time purchase lol. If they still honored previous purchases and rolled out a one-time payment I’d be a lot happier as I think overall it was a really good app.
