Fundoplication
I’ve done my reading but not all my questions are answered and it would be great to hear from multiple peoples experiences who have had the Fundoplication surgery.
Worth mentioning I’m 23M, I have mechanical issues, my esophagus doesn’t push food down properly and the little flap above my stomach doesn’t close over properly. I have gone to great efforts working with a nutritionalist, but this only reduces symptoms and not fixes. I’ve been battling this for about 8 years, and can get down to 20mg worth of medication a day as long as I eat 100% clean (no wheat/gluten, dairy, processed foods), I can live life. But one bad day of eating and I will be throwing up and cause days worth of reflux.
But my specialist somehow thinks it could just fix itself, which I don’t see happening? I have chronic asthma, the acid is burning holes in my teeth, and I am willing to take a risk to live a healthy adult life.
Post surgery, who is still on medication?
Asthma sufferers, how much did the surgery help?
Has anyone got the 270 instead of the 360, does it make swallowing food a little easier?
I’ve read their is a few different types of surgeries and my specialist didn’t explain this to me, what are the differences and pros and cons?
From previous reading it sounds like the first couple weeks post surgery can be rough, and a few months down the track most people are back to normal, how has everyone’s experience been with that?
Have people made a return to contact sports with no issues?
Have people had relief from lower back pain?
I’m already at a low body fat percentage and eating smaller more regular portions to keep the reflux down, is the wrap going to make it even harder to get calories in? If so, how much harder?
Thanks for the advice
