Indie Sunday Zero Orders Tactics - Pauloondra - Automatic chess, not autochess: Indirect control + puzzle tactics + board tiles manipulations

Upvotes

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1877650/Zero_Orders_Tactics/

Imagine a chess game, where every pawn moves by itself, and you can predict how. You can't move them, but you can manipulate their decisions. By changing the board tiles. This is Zero Orders Tactics.
(also there are 110+ types of pawns + 50 spells, but you got the point)

Zero Orders Tactics is an experimental turn-based puzzle strategy where you are a GOD, not a silly general. Instead of making commands, you are making mountains, lakes, and other divine stuff BECAUSE YOU CAN!

Forget about commanding troops - now, you're shaping the battlefield itself.

Nothing is random, everything is predictable, and the battlefield is changing. Every turn. By you.

Gameplay features:

  • Full predictable combat and zero randomness
  • Indirect control - you can't control your units; they have their own pathfinding rules
  • Control the battlefield - Your abilities are to change terrain and change unit classes
  • Replayability and Rogue-lite progression - build your hand with new spells and units every run, and unlock more heroes to start different

Genre: Turn-based Strategy Puzzle, Roguelite

Gameplay footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h50-ySzLBMw&t=184s
Trailer: https://youtu.be/56OJUTi44WQ
Platforms: Steam + Steam Deck
Release date: Nov 4th, 2024

Fortune Avenue - Binogure Studio - A modern 3D Monopoly-inspired board game with unique twists and dynamic rules

Hey r/games! Fortune Avenue launches TOMORROW and I couldn't think of a better community to share this milestone with on this Indie Sunday!

After 4 years of development (started in 2021!), my democratic board game with hotels and caravans is finally ready. As a solo developer working nights and weekends to bring this vision to life, I'm both nervous and excited to share what makes Fortune Avenue special:

🎲 Revolution, Not Evolution Fortune Avenue isn't just another board game - it fundamentally transforms the experience. The jail becomes an ice floe that might melt into a luxury cruise. The airport lets you strategically fly across the board. And when the World Cup comes to your city? Watch your opponents weep as your rent multiplies tenfold!

🗳️ Democracy in Action, regularly all players vote on new rules from a pool of over 30 possibilities. Should we reintroduce all 5-star hotels back into play? Should everyone get $200K? Should hotel rents double? The constantly shifting ruleset ensures no two games ever play the same.

⏱️ No More Endless Games A helicopter appears to chase away players on the brink of elimination, and every lap around the board increases rent by $10,000! These acceleration mechanics ensure games reach exciting conclusions without the dreaded 4-hour stalemate.

🤝 Team Play One of our most requested features! Form alliances and play in cooperative teams, sharing resources and plotting strategy together against other teams or AI opponents.

🎭 Multiple Ways to Play Solo against machines, local multiplayer with friends (fair warning: friendships may be tested!), or test your skills against players worldwide in online mode!

🎬 Launch Trailer: https://youtu.be/ZEJBGAjNxIY

🎮 Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1810050/Fortune_Avenue/

Release Info:

  • Release Date: TOMORROW - April 7th, 2025
  • Launch Price: $4.99 with 40% off during launch week! ($2.99)

This has been an incredible journey, and I'm happy to answer any questions about the development process, the inspirations behind certain mechanics, or anything else you're curious about. I'll be monitoring this thread all day as I nervously count down the hours to launch!

Thanks r/games for all the support on my previous posts - can't wait to see you all on Fortune Avenue tomorrow! :)

Indie Sunday Strange Seed - Chronicle Games - Eat, evolve & adventure through a Spore-like RPG world

Hey r/Games! Addressing the usual question up front:

Strange Seed is not a Spore successor, but it is creature evolution, with a semi-linear adventure, characters, a story, and a lot of challenges to adapt to!

Steam page
Trailer

And here's a more recent video showing some updates: https://youtu.be/z1pSMFm_FQY?feature=shared&t=952

Back when I played Spore, I wished it had a lot more of Creature Stage. And long before that, I fell in love with E.V.O.: Search for Eden, a 2D evolution RPG on the Super Nintendo.

Another wish I had for Spore was for evolution to be meaningful — it really isn’t, most of the time. So in Strange Seed we have challenges like: - Become small enough to crawl through a tiny tunnel - Become heavy enough to push a heavy boulder - Steal a snake’s eye DNA to see in the dark - Balance your wings with low weight and stamina bonuses to get through a platforming segment - Load up on shells and spikes to become a defensive creature, or claws and teeth for a glass cannon build

Making the game has taken a couple of years — it turned out to be pretty complex (what a surprise...). But we’re getting close to the finish line, and will likely launch by the end of Q3 this year.

Anyway, if you want to try it out, here’s the demo page! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3224660/Strange_Seed_Demo/?beta=1

Special shoutout to other evolution games:
I really do love this genre, if you do too here’s some other upcoming stuff that looks cool: - Critter Crosser: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2792320/Critter_Crosser/ - Adapt: https://store.steampowered.com/app/888780/Adapt/ - Elysian Eclipse: https://www.elysian-eclipse.com/ - Primordial Empore: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3450780/Primordial_Empire/

Feel free to shout out any other game you’ve got your eye on!

Indie Sunday BubbleByte 🫧🐱 - Vittorio Romeo - Cozy Incremental Game with Tower Defense & Automation Elements

Upvotes

Hi! My girlfriend, our cat Byte, and I created BubbleByte 🫧🐱, a cozy incremental game where you recruit cats to pop an endless stream of bubbles!

We're huge fans of the genre and found inspiration watching our own cat's fascination with soap bubbles. The result? A game that combines satisfying clicking mechanics with strategic cat placement. Think of Cookie Clicker's satisfying progression + Stardew Valley's cozy vibes + a hint of Bloons TD's strategical placement and Factorio's automation.

Check out 🎞️ BubbleByte | Steam Release Trailer to see it in action!

Key Features:

  • Simple yet engaging gameplay: Start by clicking bubbles to earn coins, then buy upgrades and recruit cats to progress.
  • Strategic cat placement: Each of the 12+ unique cat types has special abilities -- from normal bubble-popping cats to Unicats that transform nearby bubbles into valuable star bubbles worth 15x more.
  • Satisfying chain reactions: Create Rube Goldberg-like setups where cats trigger each other's abilities. E.g., place Unicats to create star bubbles, position Devilcats to throw bombs with 10x multipliers, and watch your earnings explode! Here is 🖼️ a visual example.
  • Exploration: Unlock the minimap to discover ancient shrines with special cats and unique minigames, like the Witchcat's voodoo rituals that curse cats until you find and retrieve scattered dolls, granting you powerful timed buffs.
  • Meaningful progression: When you hit a wall, prestige to permanently double bubble values and earn points for game-changing upgrades -- not just boring +1% boosts!
  • Player-friendly design: Complete the game in a few days depending on your playstyle. No predatory mechanics, no ads, no premium currencies -- just a complete, enjoyable experience designed to be fun but not overly addicting.
  • Replayability: Push for higher numbers after completing the main game, or try speedrunning on our 🏆 official leaderboard. Can you beat our times?

➡️ If it sounds up your alley, BubbleByte 🫧🐱 is available on Steam! It also works well on touchscreen devices such as the Steam Deck or Microsoft Surface.

💬 We're constantly improving the game based on player input! Share your thoughts in the comments or join us on our Discord - we personally read and respond to all feedback!

Indie Sunday Fading Light – Punica – A Hand-Drawn Metroidvania Where You Explore with a Companion by Your Side

Hey everyone! We’re Punica Games, a small team of four working on Fading Light, a hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania set in a world where there is no daylight.

You play as Noteo, a survivalist accompanied by a fire spirit named Spark. The world of Fading Light is completely dark—there’s little to no global light or skybox. Your only light comes from Spark, and bioluminescent creatures that glow in eerie, otherworldly ways. Every zone is designed around navigating that darkness — not just for aesthetics, but for tension, platforming, puzzles and storytelling. Think atmosphere-heavy exploration with real-time danger always lurking in the shadows.

Key Features:

  • Exploration without sunlight: Navigate a dark world where light is a scarce and precious mechanic.
  • Hand-drawn art style: We’ve built every scene by hand to give each biome a distinct, moody feel.
  • No filler, no fluff: We're designing everything with intention — no repetitive grinding or recycled content.
  • Hard worldbuilding: If you like serious Metroidvania vibes and deep, detailed narrative design, this one’s for you.
  • A living companion (Spark): Not just for lighting — Spark helps reveal paths, engage in combats, and even speaks with you. He is a companion with a free will and you can't always control or predict his decisions. You'll have to adapt him just as he'll be adapting you throughout the game.

We’re still in early development, and we want to do this right. That means taking our time to polish mechanics, build meaningful biomes, and craft a non-repetitive, story-driven Metroidvania. The full game is about 2 years out, with a demo coming in ~7 months.

👉 Steam Page – Please Wishlist If It Sounds Interesting!
📽️ Youtube Link For the Trailer

We started Fading Light after winning a game jam — what began as a quick prototype grew into a project we’ve now been building for over a year. We’ve put our hearts into it, and hope that shows through.

We’d love to hear your thoughts — does a 2-year wait feel too long for a full release if it means zero bugs and a full-scale Metroidvania experience with no recycled content? If so, is this an important factor to discourage you from wishlisting the game?

Thanks so much for reading — we’ll be hanging around in the comments today if you want to ask anything or share your thoughts.

Hi everyone, my name is Mike Ten — I'm a solo developer currently working on a horror game inspired by Chilla's Art-style titles like The Closing Shift and The Convenience Store.

But in this game, you play as the owner of a boba tea shop.

I'm now in the final stage of polishing the game and plan to release it very soon. A short demo is also available on the Steam page if you're interested!
