Further Mathematics [College - Polynomial Functions)

For d) the book states: Determine the end behavior (which I’ve done), and find the power function that the graph of f resembles for large values of |x|. How do you get y=7x7? Is it because 7 is the leading term, has no variable, and it’s a 7th degree polynomial? TIA

History—Pending OP Reply [11th Grade Modern History] - Essay Topic Ideas

Hi! I have to write an essay on a personality from the modern era (1720-2001). This is my assignment info I have been given:

You are to design and complete a research question on an historical personality in the Modern Era (1720-2001). You will then complete a 1000-word extended response. Your question should focus on representations and interpretations of your personality over time (in relation to an/some events, actions, characterisation, debates, achievements or legacy)

My question also must contain one of: Assess, to what extent, Evaluate, Compare and Contrast, or a response to a quote.

Honestly I have been trying to come up with things for ages but have really struggled because we aren't allowed to research any topic we will study in the future (WWI, Great Depression, Russian Revolution, and Apartheid). I feel kinda stupid coming on here to ask people to help me write an essay question but i'm so stuck at this point- so any ideas at all would be appreciated!

Hello everyone,
For the life of me, I cannot find any linguistic scientific literature on where epithets are being described, does anyone have any article suggestions where this stylistic device is analyzed?

History [University Essay: Decolonisation] How far did decolonisation alter the power hierarchy?

Exploring this question. It obviously did change the power hierarchy as it resulted in the formation of newly independent states, some of which have gained prominence and economic power e.g India.

It also allowed the 'Global South' to enter the sphere, and develop economically.

However, you could argue that decolonisation, did not significantly change the power hierarchy as may western nations and formally colonial powers, interfere with the democracy of previously colonized states, and implement an 'informal colony', thus keeping the power hierarchy.

Other forms of control like tied aid, trading negotiations, threat of tariffs etc also keep these less powerful countries at the will of other more powerful nations.

So, I was wondering if anyone had anymore ideas/points I haven't considered, or any readings/articles that could be of use ?

Thank you :)

Pure Mathematics [Maths] Does this way to count work to find out how many boxes can fit in a container?

I have an assignment to become eligible for my trade school programme to become a forwarding agent.

The assignment is basically to fit as many boxes of a glass, to minimise costs.

I feel like I'm done with the hardest part of the assignment, which is to figure out how many boxes that can fit in a container, but I want to double check that my way works.

I basically first think on a 2D plane, so I first figure out the square centimetres of the container and the box, and then I divide the container's number with the box. This will most certainly not end up as a whole number, so I round it down, since it's a matter of being able to fit it inside.

What I do next is that I divide the container's height with the box's height, and do the same thing.

Finally, what I do is that I multiply these two numbers and bam! The number shown is how many boxes I can fit in the container.

Does this work, or is there a better and easier way?

Answered [Physics 12: Momentum] solving for Ek lost in a collision

Attached are 2 photos. The first one is of the question (question #2), and the second one is my attempt (ignore the scribbled part, that's for question #1).

I was confused at first, thinking I only need V1i - V1f, and completely ignore the second block. But that changed because I knew I had to somehow use the second block.

Here's my explanation: I first solve for initial Ek1. Using the formula m1v1 + m2v2 = m1f v1f + m2f v2f, I solved for final velocity of block 2, and used it to solve for Ek2f. And using both, the change I got was 33.2J lost, but the answer is supposed to be 24J lost.

Where did I go wrong?

Physics [AP High School Physics] Science Fair Project

My physics teacher just sprung a science fair on us, and I need to sort out what I’m doing soon. My field of expertise is quantum physics, but I’m struggling to find projects that fit the criteria I need: 1. It needs to be a thorough, unique, and challenging project 2. I need to be able to do a lot of additional research on it (I will be writing a paper afterwards) 3. It needs to be related to quantum physics (preferably light, but anything works)

I do have a big budget for this as my birthday is coming up, and I have weeks to test and build my experiment. I just need ideas quick because my outline is due soon (yes, this was just assigned I’m not procrastinating this!)

Thank you to all who share ideas, you are much appreciated!

(NOTE: The best option I have found so far is a cloud chamber, but it doesn’t seem like something I can do a whole lot of research on)

Answered [Grade 11 Mathematics 20-3: Geometry] I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong

Post image

I know to separate each object and calculate their volumes then add said volumes together. With the hemisphere, I divided the diameter by 2 which got me its radius (0.5 m) and that the radius is the same number as the height.

In terms of the cone’s radius, it’s the same as the dome. I’ve checked the volume of the hemisphere (0.26 m³) but I tried dividing the volume by the total volume of the 3-D object and I got 0.4. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Additional Mathematics—Pending OP Reply [Elementary Math] Fractions

Can someone please clarify this?

The question states, "Draw two fraction bars: one which represents the fraction to the left, before any divisions or regroupings. The second fraction bar should be an exact copy of the first bar, except with any divisions or regroupings drawn over it to show the equivalence. Make sure all lines from the original fraction are clearly visible in your second illustration. Also, make sure the lines for the divisions or regroupings are clearly different from the original lines in the first fraction bar."

When I go from 2/5 to 4/10, should I draw the dotted red line over the gray lines from the 2/5? If I do that, would the original lines still be considered "clearly visible"? I apologize if this seems like a dumb question- the notation in this class is kind of particular, so I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Any clarification provided would be appreciated. Thank you

Physics—Pending OP Reply [Year 11: Air resistance, why do smaller surfaces lead to longer times?]

Hello! Please, I need help as this is an assessment. We conducted an experiment where a fan is propelling a trolley car and has cardboard flags. In our data collection, smaller surfaces led to longer times, and larger surfaces led to quicker times. Why is that? Is something wrong with our experiment?

Answered [Grade 11 Mathematics 20-3: Geometry] I’m not sure what the formula is for finding the diameter for a cone

I know the formula for finding the volume of a cone is V = 1/3 * πr²h but I don’t know how to rearrange the formula to find diameter. I’ve been searching for the formula for a while now so I’m asking here as a last resort. I want to know the formula so I can understand the question better 😭
