"It's a base game, it doesn't come with G rank"
Low rank should be challenging with low rank gear, and high rank should be challenging with high rank gear. I don't want the first 50+ hours of the game to be a cakewalk, that's boring. Challenge shouldn't just be reserved for endgame.

Nahhh bro…just wait 1-2 years to spend 40-60 bucks for the real game

Rise base game was a joke in terms of difficulty, yet people defended it with the same excuse as always "its not easier you just got better" these people act like i cant go back and play even world, i can boot up world and if i go against an hr monster unless its something i know like a book i will probably cart once or twice. carting in base game rise was a challenge,

as for crafting material, people acted like the SHOWER of materials in rise was QOL, no it was it trivialized the gearing up process and made it Easy as shit. i crafter a whole malzeno set in 3 hunts ffs.

there is a sweet spot, fightign 30 rathians for a point sucks, fighting 3 malzeno for a full set also sucks.

stop defending the trivialization of the games cause thats how you get modern slop.

Were you around for World? Everyone was whining about how easy HR was. Hell, until Rise, everyone complained about how easy all of World was, including Iceborne. Which I always thought was bs. This complaint has been prevalent for every MH since Tri. Even P3rd people complained was too easy, but it was a lot less popular then.

You cannot figure out what is easy and what isn't without relative context.

Your arbitrary chart doesn't change that the general sentiment with every new MH is that it's the easiest one. Which, again, I don't agree with. Every MH offers some extremely challenging fights. Some just have more than others.

Low rank being piss easy i can respect but at the very least high rank should have some bite.
The thing is, if High rank is easy, whats the point of it? Why not just end the game at Low Rank if there is no meaningful step up?

Wouldn't mind some modular difficulty or mission variables being thrown in.

Having started with Rise and going back to play 4U. Low rank wasn't that hard and I didn't even do any material grinding so I had a garbage mix set.

Monster Hunter seems to only really be hard when you don't know what you're doing.

The average player doesn't derive fun from the start of a game being a battle to survive while you're learning a game that's fairly complicated and overwhelming, sorry to break it to you. It's just not a good business model, challenge is a huge reason I play monhun but I'd never want LR to be challenging, a huge amount of my friends would drop the games instantly if it were that way.

Did you play world?

Low rank is in the most literal sense a tutorial. High rank has never been meant to be hard because it's the middle of the game, while master rank is the end. Most of the people saying it's easy are saying so tho because they've been in the series for ages and are good.

Play with no armor and there you go.

u/PrincessRocke Feb 24 '25

The entire game is about making better armor and weapons to be able to fight more difficult monsters. If I have to deliberately avoid engaging with the core gameplay loop to get any challenge, why even play at all? I shouldn't have to self-impose a challenge, that's the designers' job.

Play a different game then? It isn't even released yet and you're complaining already through someone else's experience

2

u/PrincessRocke Feb 25 '25

It's not just "someone else's experience", it's the experience of quite literally everyone who's actually touched the final game so far. And it's quite consistent with the direction the series has obviously been going in since fifth gen.

"avoid one of the most important and fun part of the game to make it difficult". No i want the game to make me meaningfully use the systems that are fun, not make me avoid this systems
