I don't give a shit if it's "too easy". As long as it's fun. And if the beta was any indication it'll be fun.

I think it does matter for veterans at least. More difficulty = more time spent preparing, learning movesets, and carting, which in turn means more playtime. A lot of ppl enjoy some difficulty in games.

As long as there is there is postgame difficulty it will be ok.

The issue more so is the balance curves in modern hunter basically breed bad habits then they randomly go oh we are going to make the game hard again and you just go you know I don't feel like prepping for a curve that has no consistency. It's why I prefer freedom unite the game always says fuck you so it's at least consistent

Wasn't that all of the older monster hunter games?

Before world, everyone of them was basically

"Oh you forgot to bring healing items? I hope you don't mind foraging. Oh, you didn't bring a crafting book? Get fucked scrub."

"Oh you didn't bring wetstones? You can go sharpen your weapon with some fish. Whats that, you didn't bring a fishing rod or a pick axe? Boy, sucks to suck."

"Oh you thought it would be you and the monster, and not fifty thousand respawning bullfangos? I don't give a fuck."

Tbf normal rank was a bit more forgiving for those who where used to the game with less prep, but by the time high rank licked in given the delay for supplies you typically needed to have that sorted out by then. Typically the older games actually gave you a reason to do advanced preparation, and well rewarded you for it. Monster hunter has been a steady like grinding down of those edges over the years. Oh? you used to have to interact with a farm for your prep, now its just a menu with points. Also the small monsters never infinity re spawned at least in any game i played in freedom unite plus. Hunting them down prior to fighting the big monster so you didn't have to deal with them was always preferable.

Worlds for me broke a lot of systems in to their worst forms, but gave us imao the upsides that are fine at least of. "can change weapon" The smoother more modern controls that basically let you get out of jail free for anything I feel really didn't keep up with the modern monster design, but I feel that its a step for getting more players that's needed. Monster design just needed to be updated to keep up with it.

The difficulty I'm more referring to is even just the general monster difficulty curve where early hunter really ground you down and made you earn your jumps up. Fighting a modern tigrex, and a freedom unite tigrex are not even remotely equivalent experiences.
