MH Wilds Some guy was pissed about shielded weapons

I joined this quest to hunt a tempered Arkveld because it had a unholy amount of rewards and this guy was who I joined was running the hunting horn. Anyhow this guy began to get angry because he was trying to max out DPS or something. To be honest I don't know but anyhow, he wasn't happy that I was using Gunlance and told me to get off it for two reasons, weapons with guards are inherently no skill by design, and guarding takes away from DPS. Anyhow he proceeded to text something to the other guy who joined which was a SnS telling him to get off SnS or don't block. He spent most of the hunt texting lmao

This isn't anything extreme but it was amusing to me and I wanted to share

If I ran into a guy who told me "get off Greatsword or don't block" I would do nothing but block for the entire hunt.

Man. Lotta charge blades here agree. Wanna point out. When we HAVE to guard, it still fills vials. So it helps DPS... edit ima dummy, 7th this

I, the 7th of at least 24 of the Lance Brotherhood 9th this. My shield attacks for me. It's Moar DPS.

I wonder what I can kill with nothing but guard damage.

SWAXE can't block but I had one hunt where tempered Arkveld kicked my girlfriends ass, and on the next hunt I swear she was nailing the offset out of rage on EVERY DAMN ATTACK that Arkveld threw at her. Seriously it was impressive to watch. So I guess with enough anger you can do anything.

It says "guarding: none" in its weapon description, so probably not. There might be offsets though

what do you mean by axe mode offset? Like i-frames when switching to the axe or something?

You can perform an offset attack using Y+B in axe mode. Offset attacks are attacks that you use like a parry, you perform the appropriate input as the attack is incoming. If you time it right you will knock the monster over and not take damage. It's a meter like mounting so subsequent offset knockdowns require a bunch more successful offsets but all successful offsets will prevent damage.

I main bow and if this was happening on one of my hunts, to further make him rage I would jump off my Seikret and melee with the arrow to be petty as well for the rest of the hunt.

you shouldn't. just because someone is toxic doesn't mean you should fork over other party members or be toxic yourself.

be a better hunter and take the high road, either just swap or ignore him - doesn't matter what he does, he's just a buff outlet anyway.

Alternatively, i recommend pulling out dual blades and immediately carting 3 times. Extra points if you custom a sticker to spam "MAH DPS!"

The funniest thing is that dual blades does have a defensive tool. Demon Dodge. Like yeah now we can follow it with cork screw, but we've had a defensive option for like 20 years

Gunlance/SnS user here.

For GL I would only attack out of a perfect guard.

For SnS I would try to go out of my way to ONLY use my shield.

I don’t even care if we win or I get kicked. I’d just wanna be petty lol.

Oh i literally had this happening the other day, so i did nothing but blocking and offsetting for the whole duration of the double tempered hunt.

Also, it was MY lobby but it was too hilarious seeing this guy emote spam like a maniac
