MH Wilds Some guy was pissed about shielded weapons

I joined this quest to hunt a tempered Arkveld because it had a unholy amount of rewards and this guy was who I joined was running the hunting horn. Anyhow this guy began to get angry because he was trying to max out DPS or something. To be honest I don't know but anyhow, he wasn't happy that I was using Gunlance and told me to get off it for two reasons, weapons with guards are inherently no skill by design, and guarding takes away from DPS. Anyhow he proceeded to text something to the other guy who joined which was a SnS telling him to get off SnS or don't block. He spent most of the hunt texting lmao

This isn't anything extreme but it was amusing to me and I wanted to share

Switched from SA to GL with wilds and i feel like doing way more dps, because i am always exactly at the monster and don't need to dodge any attack.

See, that's interesting because I've been dabbling with GL and don't feel like I'm doing anything. There's something about the loop I know I'm not getting, where with World it felt like the full-burst -> reload sequence flowed right.

It took me a minute to click with new GL, but the burst combo works fine and so does the 'poke until you harpoon the thing' chain.

I like that you can use the shells to reposition with the little hop they added, too. All they need to do is bring back the human cannonball move from Rise to make it a perfect moveset for me

You’re basically trying to abuse your guard points and perfect blocks to combo into wyrmstake full blast or multi wyrmstake full blast depending on the opening. For short openings you can just full burst into quick reload. Because perfect block chains directly into slam, you can go into any one of those three off of it. And with the guard point on both quick reload and full reload, you can maintain pretty much constant pressure if you’re managing the timings right.

When the monster runs away, you can shell hop into sweep cancel to gap close super fast.

Also if you’re not already, change your focus mode to toggle and toggle it on the entire time you’re unsheathed. Your moves gap close more and will hit way more reliably with it.

I'm checking it out lately too. It feels good, the damage is there. Full Burst and Wyrmstake are kind of crazy for how easy they are to do, and tanking everything is wild coming off of something as pure aggro as Swaxe.

Eh, tbf you can almost do the same with SA in wilds because it has a really quick parry with the sword and an offset with axe, albeit a tricky one to pull. The parry was my main reason to really dive into the weapon in wilds, it really lacked defensive options before.
