MH Wilds Some guy was pissed about shielded weapons

I joined this quest to hunt a tempered Arkveld because it had a unholy amount of rewards and this guy was who I joined was running the hunting horn. Anyhow this guy began to get angry because he was trying to max out DPS or something. To be honest I don't know but anyhow, he wasn't happy that I was using Gunlance and told me to get off it for two reasons, weapons with guards are inherently no skill by design, and guarding takes away from DPS. Anyhow he proceeded to text something to the other guy who joined which was a SnS telling him to get off SnS or don't block. He spent most of the hunt texting lmao

This isn't anything extreme but it was amusing to me and I wanted to share

I'm so confused by this. In all fromsoft games not named sekiro or armored core, the answer to any defensive question is "i frame dodge," not blocking.

Why would sekiro players, who are accustomed to blocking (you could split hairs and say it's about parrying...the difference is simply timing, its the same button) denigrate guarding?

Yeah, deflecting in Sekiro is just blocking with good timing. My friend and fellow sekiro enthusiast was immediately attracted to Lance because of the constant countering.

Ya i chose great sword for perfect offset counters. It's not sekiro, but its fun. Lance is my next choice.

I mean literally every action game is pressing buttons with good timing, if we’re being this reductive
