Discussion I backed out of my nose job at the last second

my real nose is actually a bit cuter than this imo, I’ve got fillers in that I’m going to get dissolved tmr

I’ve finally began to learn to love the nose I was given… and broken 😅 but it’s been a really really difficult journey. I got nose fillers to try to conceal the shape of my nose that only made it look worse. Even put a $2000 deposit down on a nose job that I’ll never get back. Had a surgery date set and everything. Was ready to go through with it. And then idk. Something sort of just clicked. If I can be seen as beautiful by other people even with this nose, what the hell is stopping me from seeing it? Maybe not everyone will find me drop dead gorgeous, but that doesn’t take away from my value. I don’t find Matt Damon very attractive but that doesn’t stop him from being widely observed as a strikingly handsome man.

Sooo I guess I’m just trying to say, I understand. There’s so many people under this subreddit that are asking if they should get surgery and I just want to try to be an example for those of you who think that’s the only option. It’s not. I promise you the nose you were born with fits your face just fine. A nose job won’t fix your self image. 9/10 times you’ll end up missing your nose and wishing you had just learned to love yourself the way you are.

I promise you, your nose adds character, it makes you stick out in the best way. And im always here to give you a boost of confidence if you need it, I give pretty good compliments and my dms are always open

Celebration They made fun of my nose growing up. Now I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Growing up, I was teased a lot for my nose and for looking different. It took me years to unlearn the idea that I had to look like everyone else to be beautiful. Lately, Reddit keeps showing me more and more posts from people, many of them so beautiful, who feel like they need to change themselves to be enough. It breaks my heart because I’ve been there too.

Now, as an adult, I love that my face tells my story, that it’s mine and not shaped by anyone else’s expectations. And it’s not just me I see when I look in the mirror, I see where I came from. I see the faces of my ancestors in old photos, the features that carried through generations, the proof that I belong to something bigger. I’m part of them, and they’re part of me.

To anyone struggling: you are not alone. You are already beautiful as you are, so much more than a "flaw" or a feature.

Is my nose super noticeable?

I’ve always been extremely self conscious of my nose and the ball at the end. When I was born and my grandma came to meet me we have video of her saying “she doesn’t have the pretty little nose like her sister”. No one ever comments on it good or bad in my adult life, but I see my profile in a photo and I feel like it’s all I can look at and I am very insecure. Is it just a nose or does it stand out like “wow she definitely has a nose”?

Discussion The Nose Job Hate

Hello, ive been getting a lot of posts from this sub in my fyp recently and i wanted to comment on something.

I see a lot of people asking about their nose ( most likely because they dont like it ) and prople being like “omg youre nose is literally perfect theres nothing wrong with it!”.

And its bugging me, first of all because im someone who has had a nose job, and it literally changed my life. The doctor didnt really give me a perfect nose. My nose is still a “big” nose. But he made it so it doesnt look like a problem to me anymore. And when i tell you everything in my life changed… i was truly avoiding so many things because i thought i was ugly. Its a matter of perception of course. But i truly did. And now i dont, and its incredible.

And other than that, i guess im just really annoyed when i see this overly “positive” approach to appearance. In this time space reality were living in, big noses have not been considered attractive for a long time. Why is it abnormal to feel bad about a characteristic that has been shamed by others for the majority of our lives?

True self acceptance is not to slap positive messages on top of anything we dislike about ourselves. To say “shut up” to a part of ourselves who has actually experienced the negativity of not fitting this societys beauty ideal, especially as a girl.

It is to listen to ourselves first, tell ourselves “you know what? It makes complete sense that you feel that way. But we’re gonna find a better way, an easier way, to live with this characteristic, or change it if thats whats best for us”.

To learn how to accept something in yourself, both on the outside and on the inside, that you have learned to hate by the people around you is NOT an easy thing. And it most certainly is NOT a matter of “body positivity”, and sushing it out because “youre already perfect!!”. And yes, to some people, the Most self loving answer it to change it. Why is that so bad? Why do we see self love as this thing we are supposed to already possess and if we dont, thats shameful and bad?

Ask yourselves, please, how comforting it is for you when you express a problem and the people around you tell you that “the problem doesnt even exist and its in your head”.

If you dont like your nose, its perfecty normal. Theres only one type of face thats considered beautiful in this society, and this society rarely values women for anything other than their beauty. Its a really difficult thing to grow up getting the message that youre not valued. I really hope we can all get to a place where we either feel beautiful or it doesnt matter if we do, because we can find more important qualities within us. But untill we get there, we have to have compassion and understanding for each other and for ourselves.

We deserve it.

I’ve always hated my nose, by best friend insists I’m fine. What do you think?

I’ve (28F) always been insecure about my nose. I’ve never seen it represented by any famous celebrities, and paired with my thinner lips I feel it takes up even more space on my face. I’m also often curious if it’s the first thing people notice about my face. It droops slightly when I smile, which is more noticeable from the side. I’ve debated getting a nose job for years.

Some friends will make jabs and say I could smell something a mile away, and my best friend insists she loves it. But if not for my makeup skills, I doubt people would notice me.

I suppose I’d love to hear true objective opinions from strangers who have nothing to lose from telling me their honest opinion 🫶🏼
