MOD MESSAGE PPC Salary Survey 2025 Final Report - 10th Year Edition

Howdy Y'All

This is our 10th year doing the salary survey. It only feels like yesterday we got started on this.

We got 830 responses this year. Countries/regions are listed in alphabetical as we got 120+ slides. For reporting, the bar is 20 for the USA and 10 for the rest of world to show a country, region, province/state or a city.

I want to give a special shout out to Portugal this year as they got their own slide. Our community members from India keep showing up and getting their own sections again this year. It is great to see us continue to brach out and collect more data from around the world.

Also, the Netherlands cracked the top 3 countries this year for the first time. They knocked out Canada for the top 3rd spot for number of responses. Congrats to each country.

Some Notes

  • Top 6 countries now has a slide to show how much data we get from each one
  • Even less currency conversions to do this year. Remote work seems harder to come by, unless more people are getting paid in their local currency. A few people who do work remote are paid very well vs their local PPCers.
  • Some people have 1-3 years experience in paid but having been working for 8-10 years, thus they can skew salaries higher.
  • Some people include their bonus in their salaries I imagine. This can make their salary higher than someone who might not have. Hence why we try to use the median salary across all reports

Results Served Two Ways

Thanks you for helping make this happen. I spend a couple weeks on this project each year and it's truly interesting to see the data doing this labour of love project.

If you see a mistake or you think something is off, let me know in the comments or DM me and I'll look into it. This folder has past salary survey results.

Google Ads Some Google Ads Accounts stopped serving completely on March 1st

Anybody else seeing this? Two of our Google Ads client accounts didn't serve at all yesterday. No notices, changes, disapprovals, suspensions, payment problems, or other issues. We see no Google Ads activity in GA4 so it's not just delayed reporting.

Google speciality support team too busy to respond immediately. This makes me wonder if they have a global issue with some accounts.

EDIT: The wide spread issue appears to be fixed for all advertisers as of March 3rd. Here are some details about what Google said (spoiler alert, not much): https://searchengineland.com/google-ads-stop-running-for-some-advertisers-452864

Google Ads What factors affect user dwell time

I'm currently in charge of placing ads for my company's branded website. I create Google search ads for an online store for a product that sells very well on Amazon. But after clicking on it the stay on our website is very short, is the price of the product too high or is there some other reason? The description and images of the product use the same as on Amazon.

Tags & Tracking Why is server side so hard?

I've been trying to setup server side tracking using stape and gtm which is supposed to make it easy. I'm so confused, it's not easy to me lol. I'm not even sure my client needs it. 60 Google leads a month, mainly calls via callrail, now looking to launch small budget $500 Facebook campaign and setting up CAPI.

Google Ads Should Google Ad Marketers drive ads to my website or an off site landing page?

I'm starting a new local home service business. The website is live and I'm in the process of signing up with a Google Ads marketer. They said that they would run the ads to landing pages on my website BUT if the conversion rates are too low... they wan to build a "more appealing" landing page off site.

My web builder told me they can manipulate the data and it will decrease the dwell time on my site and it won't benefit my SEO. Is this normal? I feel uneasy about it. Any benefits?

Google Ads Have 320 keywords for a non-brand campaign and split it into 40 ad groups based on client intention. Feeling crazy for doing it.

Basically, I’ve been doing a ridiculous amount of research into this product and created a keyword list with 320 keywords and split them into about 40 ad groups. Some ad groups have a single keyword, but others have around 40 keywords. I still might combine some ad groups and keyword lists.

Ive never made a keyword list THIS specific before.

This post is somewhat just a mini-rant/confession because I know what I’m doing, but doing all of this just feels kind of crazy and overly in-depth.

Google Ads Click fraud solutions? HELP!! ♥

Upvotes

I really need some advice or help here. I manage PPC campaigns for local service businesses (things like locksmith, garage door repair, HVAC, etc.), and click fraud has become a real nightmare lately.

I'm not talking about just a few bad clicks here and there—this thing is sucking up budget, time, and energy like crazy. I’ve used basic IP blocking and Google's built-in detection, but it's clearly not enough. These bots or competitors are getting smarter, and it’s hurting my clients' performance and my sanity.

I’m looking for any updated tools, tips, or strategies you’ve seen work lately. Whether it’s a solid click fraud detection tool, scripts, negative placements, campaign structure tweaks—anything that can help reduce this nonsense.

Would love to hear what’s been working for you. Appreciate any insights!

Thanks 🙏

Google Ads Server-side tracking for Google Ads and CAPI

Upvotes

Hi folks - What’s the best YouTube playlist you would recommend for setting up server-side tracking for Google Ads and Facebook CAPI, specifically for a lead gen business?

I'm trying to understand which paramters need to be created and passed for proper setup in both cases, video walk-though would really be helpful

Thanks in advance!

Google Ads How are you scaling Google Ads campaigns in 2025 while keeping CPA stable ?

I’ve noticed that post-initial optimization, scaling tends to inflate CPA — especially with Performance Max or broad match + CPA strategies.

Curious to know how others are handling scale without letting CPA increase.

Google Ads Google's 'remove redundant keywords' recommendation, adds Broad match keywords

Under 'Recommendations' Google recommends removing redundant keywords. They recommended I delete my phrase and exact match and keep the broad match of the keyword, except I don't have any broad match keywords in the account. So they aren't just removing redundant keywords, they are adding broad match keywords. This is really sneaky of them and bad practices in my opinion but I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this point.

Google Ads Feeling stuck on PPC Google ads vs Facebook Ads any advice?

Hey all,

I’m working on launching ads for a niche SaaS tool in the automotive space, and honestly feeling a bit stuck. Hoping someone here can share advice or even point me to the right kind of freelancer.

I used Ubersuggest to research keywords and found two solid options:

  • One gets 8,000 searches/month with a CPC of $2.25
  • The other gets 400 searches/month with a CPC of $1.60

Both CPCs are from Ubersuggest , we haven’t launched anything yet. The first term has broader appeal, while the second aligns much more closely with our actual product and how people talk about it online.

That said… I have this gut feeling we’d perform way better with Facebook Ads, but I have no clue how to target our ICP (independent business owners in the auto industry — especially small dealer-type businesses).

Would love suggestions on how to:

  • Decide between Google Ads vs Facebook to start
  • Nail down Facebook targeting for a niche B2B use case
  • Find a legit freelancer who knows how to do this without blowing our small budget

Appreciate any tips or referrals. We just want to get moving in the right direction without wasting time or money.

Google Ads [Google Ads] 1 campaign is showing "inactive conversion tracking" and another campaign is showing "active conversion tracking"

I started a PMax Campaign with a tROAS set, it was doing well, I was hitting CPA right away, but after 2-2 days, the conversion tracking went "inactive" (red)

I started another PMax Campaign today without a tROAS to see what was going on, and it's showing "active" (green) for conversion tracking

What do I do?? I really wanted that first PMax Campaign to work again b/c CPC and CPA was being hit.

Under "Diagnostic Insights" I click "FIX IT" then some side panel pops up, saying set up a Google Tag and it has a "test connection" tab at the bottom but nothing happens when I click it

What is going on! Do I just move on from this or should I contact Google Support? I dont want to get hit with a random misrep for no reason lmao.

Google Ads I am frustrated in being newish at Google Ads, and all the automations. What to look for with Match Types and when to switch them?

I'm relatively new to ads, my previous experience was in conversion rate optimization, landing page design, and auditing headlines and descriptions to ensure they aligned with on-page content. So I'd at least been IN ads, but with minimal data points I was responsible for. What I DID learn though is how blatantly self-serving Google is. I sat in on regular account manager meetings, I heard how repetitive it is)...So now I'm here, knowing I don't know the more technical side, and knowing that most of these recommendations MIGHT help me, but WILL help google. So now the question I have is.....what are YOUR recommendations for Match Types, and when to switch?

Google Ads Low budget Google Ads Strategy Tips

This campaign is mostly a side hustle/fun project on the side I’m working on with a few friends.

It’s very low monthly budget (~$100) to get people to sign up for a trial to this AI photo organizer website (or at the very least, get people to click through to the website and build a retargeting audience). Again, this is just a fun project I’m doing on the side, and there’s no major deadline/certain number of conversions/KPIs I HAVE to hit haha

I work at an ad agency full time, so managing a campaign with a low budget will be a first for me (first time for everything I guess lol). I have Google tag manager and GA all set up, to hopefully build some more insights and retargeting pool way down the road.

We have some static/display images to go along with the campaign, so I was leaning towards launching a PMAX campaign. I’m guessing, I will need to really tighten up the geo to one or two cities (for example), exact match/maaaybe phrase keywords, etc. because of the low budget?

Any other advice/general guidelines, targeting tips, etc. I should follow to approach a campaign like this? Do I go manual cpc or max clicks (I’m guessing I’m going to have to really tighten up the ad schedule as well)?

Again, super low stakes here. Just a fun project I figured I can help out with to build on my ads experience on the side. Thanks in advance for any tips on this!

Google Ads Script/tool that connects to Google sheet to change campaign budgets?

I think I may've heard/read this can be done a long time ago.

If it could change budgets 2-3x a week that would be nice.

Is there such a thing?

Discussion Lots of active users but barely any subscription conversions — what would you do (besides price testing)?

I'm working on a mobile app that has solid engagement - users keep coming back, use the features regularly and seem to like it. But when it comes to converting to a paid subscription, the numbers are really low.

We've already tested different price points and billing cycles (monthly and yearly), but it hasn't made much difference, and I'm wondering what other methods there are to improve this.

Has anyone here had to deal with something similar?

I'm curious what others are doing differently in terms of monetization:

- Do you gate specific features?

- Do you rely on limited-time offers or fear-of-missing strategies?

- Any onboarding tricks that have helped you better emphasize value?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these issues.

We're a decent sized agency looking for expertise in the CRO space. Landing page designs, product page improvements, mobile site optimization, A/B testing. Most of our ecom clients are on Shopify.

Any suggestions on services or agencies that can help us execute here?

Google Ads Extreme increase in CPC in april (EU webshops)

Hi there

We run ads (mostly Pmax) in 7 different countries. So far we have seen an increase in CPC of somewhere between 30-50% compared to the average of the last 3 months. They are hitting the highest numbers ever.

We havent made any changes, and the spend is pretty much the same (same spend, but a lot less clicks).

Our total budget is around 50.000 EUR/month, so its based on some volume.

The weather has been really good in Europe the past 8 days, so maybe fewer people are online. That is the only thing I can point at.

Anyone else noticing the same?

Discussion In need of ppc career advice from a professional

Hey, a few months ago I discovered my passion for paid advertising, currently I am doing an internship where I get to help the paid team with some tasks from time to time but it is super basic. So far I have completed free courses on paid ads for Google, LinkedIn etc. to improve my CV and fundamental understanding of the platforms. I am about to move to Norway (2h away from Oslo) and I was trying to look for some internship/junior opportunities in the field but the market seems to be so small there (almost non-existent). I have reached out to some remote international advertising agencies to search for opportunities and I am currently in contact with one (hoping it will work out). I would love to learn more and gain experience in this field but I feel it is quite hard to enter as a newbie.

I am looking for advice on:
1. What would you recommend me to do to develop my skills?
2. How would you approach developing a ppc career in Norway, given my skillset and limited opportunities?

Thank you in advance, any word of advice will help!

Google Ads Discrepancies between Account Totals

Hey folks, wanted to get some quick advice. I’m running an account that I’ve noticed is listing different numbers for All Enabled Campaigns and Total Account. For example, the sum of impressions over a certain period is 109,913 but the Total Account is nearly double that. For context, the account is currently only running Search Ads.

My first two guesses were either a campaign that had since ended and wasn’t appearing in my campaign list or that one of my campaigns was showing up on the display network. Neither are true.

Does anyone have any ideas where the extra impressions and clicks are coming from?

Google Ads My campain PMAX Die

I have a problem with my Pmax campaign. I've always used it and recently it lost strength. I changed the performance ads a bit, I left them without resources and only shopping and they were performing very well, but I thought it could be improved (it was at 1200% ROAS). I increased it to 1500% and it died. I tried to go back to 1200 but it doesn't work anymore. I haven't sold anything for 10 days and I would like some advice on

I have 4 ads (only shopping, without resources)

best sellers - 15 items

potential - 45

curve c - 45

zombies - 211

my profit margin varies between 15 to 30%

Hi. I am looking for a feed manager app for shopify that feeds into all the places. Feedgeni does jive with reddit but does not work with Pinterest (according to Pinterest).

Looking for an easy to use (no dev or major spreadsheet management) feed manager to rule them all.

Any help much appreciated!

Facebook Ads Two questions from someone who’s very new to running Meta Ads

I have two quick questions that I’m a little lost on.

Firstly, someone said in an earlier thread that if I’m not getting much luck with getting enough conversions on my Meta Ads, that I can set up a micro-transaction event for something like add to cart to help Meta out a bit. I can’t figure out for the life of me where you set up a micro event. All I can see is the conversion event goal, and that’s about it. Where do I set up an additional event for an ad set?

And secondly, which kind of follows on from the first. I’ve accidentally set up one of my ads to aim for clicks instead of conversions (whoops). But when I go to try edit the conversion goal, everything is greyed out and one of the boxes say I need to create a new ad set to change the goal. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?

TIA ☺️

Google Ads Pmax and Standard shopping at the same time with the same products

I recently took over a Google ads account and its in a mess. They have a Pmax with maximize conversion value(target roas) on with products and then a Standard shopping campaign with CPC enhanced turned on but they both have the exact same products within.

I thought Pmax would take over all the traffic but over the same time period the standard shopping still received around half as much traffic and spend.

I am thinking that the standard shopping campaign likely has little value here and to just run the Pmax. Our other accounts typically only use Pmax(for shopping) and avoid standard shopping now days, especially for the same batch of products.

Safe bet to turn it off and then see all the traffic go to the Pmax?

Facebook Ads Why Did My Lowest CPC Ad Get Limited Reach?

I recently ran a small Meta ads test campaign to learn and noticed something puzzling that I'd love your insights on.

I tested 6 different ad creatives within a single ad set with a $30 lifetime budget over 3 days. Here's the performance breakdown:

Ad Name Clicks Impressions Reach CTR Cost/Click Spend
ChatGPT for research 38 2,785 2,554 1.36% $0.51 $19.40
I cancelled my GPT subscription 8 665 633 1.20% $0.56 $4.51
Research 10x Faster 4 244 238 1.64% $0.32 $1.26
The fastest way to read and write 3 359 351 0.84% $0.85 $2.55
Understand research papers 10x faster 3 180 171 1.67% $0.51 $1.54
Every Student Should Try this 1 75 74 1.33% $0.74 $0.74

Here's what's bugging me: The "Research 10x Faster" ad had BY FAR the lowest CPC at $0.32, but Meta's algorithm only showed it to 238 people and spent a mere $1.26 on it. Meanwhile, it dumped $19.40 (65% of my budget) into the "ChatGPT for research" ad with a significantly higher $0.51 CPC.

Logic tells me that if the algorithm had allocated more budget to the most efficient ad, I could have potentially gotten ~60 clicks instead of just 38 from my top performer.

My questions to the community:

  1. Why would Meta's algorithm heavily favor an ad with higher CPC when another ad is demonstrating much better efficiency?
  2. Is there something I'm missing about how Meta's optimisation actually works beyond simple efficiency metrics?

I'd love to hear your experiences with Meta's allocation decisions and any strategies for ensuring promising ads get proper exposure before the algorithm makes premature optimisation choices.

Google Ads Working with a primary care doctor. Anyone deal with Legitscript to get ads approved?

The doctor wants to promote virtual ADHD treatment and diagnosis services. Apparently, Google requires us to be certified by Legitscript. Client went through the paperwork a month ago but still no approval.

Anyone know how long this process takes?
