Question What’s a seemingly paranormal experience you had that’s still hard for you to explain logically?
When I was about 7 or 8, I was staying at my stepmother’s apartment. While everyone had their on rooms, I slept in the living room floor between the sectional and the ottoman. Not sure what time it was, but I knew it was late. I was lying on the floor, and in the kitchen, which was separated by a wall that had an arch way on either side of it, I heard the sound of a drawer being flung open. Like, aggressively flung open. I heard the wheels slam against the metal, and all of whatever was inside of it clank. Scared the crap out of me. But immediately after this, I heard a knife being pulled out of the drawer. It was like a sound effect had been played on a speaker. A very distinct “shing” sound, like, a sword being pulled out of a sheath. I then heard two knifes being scraped against each other. Loudly. Like, two chef’s knife’s blades just going at it. I don’t remember how long it went on for, but I know I eventually I started crying. Not loud enough to wake anyone up from their bed, but enough for my older stepsister to notice when she had gotten up to use the restroom. I told her what I had been hearing, but by that point, it had stopped. She checked the kitchen, turning on the lights, but nothing was there. All the drawers were closed—no one was present. My step mom woke up and cussed at me really badly—she was really a piece of work, but that’s a story for another time. I was allowed to sleep on a pallet in my younger half-sister’s room, which made me nearly cry from relieve. And even then, I heard the knives after a moment. Eventually I did fall asleep.
I’m 28 years old, and still, to this day, have no idea what happened that night. I know it wasn’t a dream. And I also know people may call me a liar, but I swear on everything, this did happen. I don’t think anyone there was trying to scare me, and even if they felt like doing that, there was no way for them to get to the kitchen without me noticing in some way. And my stepsister and I had seen the kitchen. No one was in there. It’s something I’ve thought about often, but I don’t think I’ll ever really be able to explain.
