Club Info🚩 we created a website to rate Purdue clubs

"Join a club in college," they say.

But which club should you join? There's like a thousand to choose from.

That's why my friends and I created rateourclub.com - a platform where students can anonymously share their club experiences and discover new communities.

As of now, here’s how it works:

  • Leave anonymous reviews (sign-up optional)
  • Search by college or club name
  • Read reviews from both members and event attendees
  • Filter reviews by date or popularity

If you have a minute, leaving a rating/review would mean the world to us!

Check out rateourclub.com and let us know if you run into any issues or want to suggest new features!

TLDR: You can now rate Purdue clubs :D

We've revamped a lot of features on BoilerClasses, so expect to see some different tools relating to profs, grades, gpa, and much more.

Additionally, our schedule builder allows you to build your own class calendar for Fall — something to use before UniTime begins open registration! 📆 Check it out at schedule.boilerclasses.com!

📌 some important dates to mark:

  • CRF closes on April 15th
  • Open registration opens on April 28th

And as always, be sure to share any feedback and any bugs you encounter!

Rant/Vent💚 To the red Honda Civic with heavily tinted windows...

I've observed you driving like an asshole many times, but today you made it my problem. You went 20 over the speed limit to pass me, and I was already speeding. You then get in front of me and slow down to 10 mph under the flow of traffic for absolutely no reason. When I tried to pass you, you sped up. This behavior deserves to get noticed by some law enforcement, so I gave your plate # to PUPD, WLPD, and LPD. You can drive like a sane human being or risk getting a ticket. You're being watched now.

Question❓ Fire Alarm??

I can’t be the only one who thinks the fire alarm doesn’t sound like a fire alarm. I was in my dorm when it went off and totally thought it was a vacuum. It wasn’t until I was walking to the bathroom and saw the flashing lights that i realized. Real safety hazard.

Is this guy doing some sort of “street view” for campus? The blue thing was rotating as he was walking.

Rant/Vent💚 the buzzer fire alarms have to go

Upvotes

so, fire alarm yesterday as you could have guessed by scrolling down to an earlier post. https://www.reddit.com/r/Purdue/comments/1jukyu4/fire_alarm/

i do NOT fw the buzzer fire alarms and it's been very jarring to have to deal with them after originally coming from hillenbrand where they had the much clearer and less annoying "There is a fire emergency in the building."

first of all, as many others pointed out, the buzzer doesn't really sound like a fire alarm from inside a room and since it's a constant noise, it's easy to dismiss as maintenance especially if you have headphones on.

second of all, maybe this is just me but i imagine a loud, constant noise is a nightmare for people who are overstimulated by loud noises. surprisingly, despite how quiet it sounds from inside my room, the buzzer in first street towers is so loud once you get out into the hallway that i can practically feel it reverberating through my body as i leave the building. i literally cannot leave my room without my noise cancelling headphones because i cannot think straight with an ear-piercing buzzing noise causing my entire body to vibrate. at least with other obnoxiously loud fire alarms, they are periodic with gaps in between blares, so you can gather your thoughts in between. then the buzzer is just like, "nah fuck you, you WILL get overstimulated or else........"

anyways the buzzer fire alarms suck pretty much. i don't know if they're commonplace everywhere on campus now but i miss the little man speaking to me through the hillenbrand fire alarm speakers telling me there's a fire emergency in the building.

Question❓ Priority Housing Deadline

Purdue's website says that "The priority application deadline to request roommates and apply for a Learning Community is April 15." I don't have a specific person I want to request as a roommate, and I'm not going to apply to an LC. Is this deadline still important to me? I saw a post from 2 years ago that mentioned that it's very important to commit before this deadline so you're not sent off campus or put in different bad dorming situation. Is this still the case? I'm still considering my options and will 100% not be able to visit Purdue before the 15th.

Res Halls & Dining✏️ The Skittle Deal

Hello everyone, I am offering 25cents for each pack of skittles given to me from the On The Goes. Extra meal swipes and don't know what to do with them? On an infinite meal plan and don't use your On the Go Swipes? Turn those wasted expiring swipes into real money. Each swipe can turn into a dollar since each swipe gives 4 sides. DM me if you are interested to trade skittles for cash. :]

Question❓ Purdue AP Credit transfer

I was recently admitted to Purdue with an offer to join the John Martinson Honors College for Computer Science, but I was wondering how the AP credits system worked. When looking at the College Board website, it mentions which classes are equivalent but doesn’t provide any details about credit. On the Purdue website, it does the same. However, whenever I went to look at the flowchart for Computer Science, the classes are named differently. On the website, it mentions how Calculus AB would be MA 16500 & 16600, but on the flow chart it says MA 161 and MA 162. When I searched these classes up, it said they were Calculus 1 and 2, which would be the same thing as Calculus BC. I was wondering if I’m looking at the wrong information, or if there’s a different site to view the CS Flowchart classes.

Links to what I referred to:

Flowchart: https://www.cs.purdue.edu/undergraduate/docs/cs-prereq-flowchart-2024.pdf

AP credit transfer (Purdue): https://www.admissions.purdue.edu/transfercredit/collegeboardap.php

AP credit transfer (AP Classroom): https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/getting-credit-placement/search-policies/college/935

(Me finding the flowchart was in efforts to try to find something alike a four-year plan for Purdue, since I want to see which classes I’ve completed and which classes I have yet to complete. If there is something better than the flowchart that represents the four-year plan for computer science, then please let me know since the flow chart is a little confusing to understand.)
