For reference, this is how scratched my nails are.
About over a month ago, I bought my first set of pressure and when I went to remove them, I did it wrong ended up, ripping off half of my nail and scratching the rest. They’ve been growing up pretty well and they’re still really strong.
In 2 weeks im going on a trip with my boyfriend and he wanted to pay for me to get my nails done. Is this possible with my nails? Or should I avoid it?
This is the closest I can get and my hand is cramping. Every time I see someone with long nails do this I am enthralled and amazed. Is there an angle I’m missing or something🤣🤣
Polish used in this is Moon Shine Mani Awfully Pond of You!
Sorry for lack of cleanup- but I haven't even finished my mani 🙈 it's a beautiful day out so I'm doing my nails on the patio & then sun started hitting my finished hand (aside from cleanup) just right 😍 I don't normally do my manis one hand at a time but this was my 1st time using the DRK magic effect so wanted to see how it went (I love it)
kb shimmer filling groovy base, 2 coats Colores de Carol Wavelength (ppu 3/25, magnetic) , 1 layer of DRK magic effect- then used 30lb horse shoe magnet for velvet effect, 1 coat G&G qdtc
Hi all, I’ve been here for a while (a couple years now) learning from the best (y’all) and realized I may finally have a way to give back. While browsing profiles you recommended on insta, I came across one for “Polish Pick” that seemed to have every shade OPI ever made just posted on the profile, so I clicked the link to their profile and realized you can buy OPI from this person. Including CRAZY hard to find colors and brand new releases on pre order. Barbie, Hello Kitty, Wicked, Chicago…. Shes like the OPI whisperer.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know this person is out there. I’ve ordered like 12 times now lol. Always a great experience. I’m not affiliated in any way, I don’t even know the persons real name or anything, I just wanted to share bc it’s been so fun re-discovering colors I loved as a teen, but thought were long gone.
Emily de Molly: Fiery Attraction (2 coats magnetized; 1 coat magnetized for 1 minute)
Thumb:
Left side: Poison (applied as described above)
Right side: Fiery Attraction (applied as described above)
All fingers:
ORLY: Bonder Base Coat
DRK: Magic Effect (magnetized for 1 minute)
Glisten & Glow: Quick Dry Top Coat (magnetized for 1 minute)
I hope that this comparison is helpful, especially for those of you whose skin tone is similar to mine. Poison definitely leans more orange-red, whereas I would describe Fiery Attraction as a true red.
I wasn’t sure what I would think of wearing these together as a skittle, but I like it! I think that this combination actually helps to give even more depth to both polishes, due to how they bring out different pops of color from within each other.
Base coat is Sally Hansen Color Therapy. Red hand is Sweet Cheeks by Sinful Colors topped with Hall of Mirrors by Mooncat. Blue hand is Blue Valentine by Death Valley Nails topped with Hall of Mirrors.
As the title says, anyone know of any dupes for this polish? I bought a bottle a long time ago and I'm about halfway through and just terrified to use more just in case it runs out! It's absolutely one of my favorite polishes so does anyone know of a good dupe? Thank you!
(ignore the wet look, cuticles were freshly oiled 🫶)
Products are: L.A Colors Nail Treatment Base/Topcoat, ColorVibe in White Out (for the dots), and L.A Colors Sheer Jelly in Heat Wave. I've never used a jelly before and can't seem to do my nails solid colors anymore so I decided to do a layered dot pattern and I kinda love it 😁
Excuse the slight messiness and my very pink hand, I just finished these and had to capture the magic. Arcana Laquer's The Magician, three coats, magnetized cat eye on the thumb, velvet on the index and pinky, and the new combo method of bar+horseshoe middle and ring. No basecoat, Essie speed-setter top coat. I magnetized every layer, top coat layer for 4 minutes each nail.
I had high expectations based on their swatches and damn does it deliver!! The magnetic didn't seem to move quite as quickly as my ILNPs (sandbar and light wave) but the shimmer/jelly/holo effect is so stunning.
This is Confetti Cannon from Sassy Sauce — a thermal that shifts from blue when cold to clear when warm. It’s packed with black and glow flakies that look just like a confetti explosion.
Other products - tenacious glaze topcoat and allisa long almond nail tips filed
I’m sure this is stupid, but it’s driving me crazy — Not sure what this is, can’t find it anywhere online, reverse image search, even at the maker’s site.
Went ham on Dollar Tree polish when I went to buy the Tiffany blue someone posted about here. LA Colors had a display of wrapped bottles with little extras included, mostly nail decor like mini pearls.
The color I chose had a circular thing stuck to it instead of fun nail art stuff … seems like a lil double-sided file. ?
Just want to make sure I’m not missing anything (on this $1.25 splurge 😂) and am v annoyed that I can’t find anything about it!
I take decent care of my nails and don't pick or bite at them. I have these black lines (broken blood vessels?) on several of my nails on both hands. Also, the nail bed separates from my nail on several of them. Is this some kind of health related issue? Or is there anything I can do?
I just started getting back into polish this past year. They are definitely not perfect, but my polish used to always chip immediately the day after (if not the day of) painting, so this feels huge to me! The only significant chip is on my right thumb from trying to open a stubborn container.
base coat: Nailtiques Formula 2
LynBDesigns Amate thermal (I think I did 3 coats but it may have been 2)
top coat: Nailtiques Formula 2
quick dry top coat: Seche Vite
I tried doing two top coats this time cause I’ve found seche vite chips pretty quickly for me, but I’m too impatient to wait for everything to dry without it. It seems to have helped! I do get a little weird peeling on the edges and what I think is shrinkage with the Seche Vite, so after I finish this bottle I will try a different quick dry top coat.
Some other things I’ve learned that I think are helping (these may be obvious but maybe will help another beginner!):
using cuticle remover - I used to just ignore the cuticles! I don’t cut them but I put on cuticle remover and push them back.
dehydrate and buff nails before starting
use a clean up brush as I go instead of just peeling the extra off once everything’s dry
cap the tips — since my nails are short, capping them gets a lot of polish on my finger tips, which is fine I just clean up the finger underneath as I go. I just saw a tip from a comment on this subreddit about capping the tips first, THEN painting the whole nail — way easier!
A minor gripe, and I'm not trying to come for Mooncat or anything. But their marketing email from this morning annoyed me.
This, to me, seems like they're taking a swipe at ILNP, since their current Rewind collection is described as "muted retro pastels" or "muted crellies" in all of their ads. Maybe I'm wrong, but if this is meant as snark about a rival boutique brand, I find that pretty lame. First, because it makes MC look like they're jealously obsessing about competitors (not a powerful look) and second because like, ILNP has plenty of super loud colors too. And MC has pastels. It's very "I hate you / I don't think about you at all" Mad Men meme energy.
Maybe I'm misinterpreting this email, and that's fine, could be totally unrelated. But I've seen other brands do this in the boutique/indie sphere, and it always makes me roll my eyes. It's just not my personal taste in advertising vibes - that whole "not like other girls" energy. Same with multiple brands acting like they're the only ones making bold/different/unusual polishes. I don't as a customer want "the Fairsley Difference" sketch playing out among nail polish brands! Anyways that's just my take lol
