Slower to Respond now, but Reminding Myself it's a Marathon not a Sprint

Hey all! I am 29y.o. 5'8" with a starting weight (Left picture) of 271lbs back in December and as of today (Right picture) I am 245.2lbs. I also had a baby just over a year and a half ago. When I first started this journey back in December I dropped 10lbs in the first month and thought this was going to go so fast, but in recent weeks I have slowed down to an average of 1lb per week give or take. Granted I am more relaxed with my calorie intake now (I used to be strict about 1600 and became obsessive so I stopped), i still try to get 90gms of protein in per day and i exercise 4-5×/week. I'm currently on 1mg and sometimes I feel like this is going to take forever to get to my goal weight...but then I look back at my starting point and remind myself of how far I've come. It's definitely a marathon, not a race! Take the pictures people, i know it's hard but it's a good reminder!

I have been steadily losing 1 lb a week on average since I started! Started 225 now 180. Slow and steady is better for your overall health, gives your hormones time to adjust, and will keep your body from going into shock /starvation mode. Especially for women. You’ve got this!! I tend to weigh myself randomly, like once a month maybe, and usually see a 3-5 lb loss. The scale can be toxic for me so I suggest having a baseline pair of pants or taking measurements!

How often do you take measurements ? I find that taking measurements every other week can be discouraging sometimes due to my cycle and bloating etc.

I don’t measure currently, I did at one point in life when I was tracking my muscle and fat mass. I’d probably only measure once a month at most though! Every 6 weeks even. Also I was only measuring my muscle areas that they needed to calculate body fat/muscle, like thighs and arms because you hit a point where u can gain muscle and lose fat but the scale goes up and your measurements go down

You’re doing fine. Losing it the way you are is the right way.

I’m also a slow responder! It’s nice to see someone else with the same experience. It can be overwhelming and disheartening to see people who seemingly lose 40 pounds in a couple months. Thank you for sharing! You look fabulous. 💖

This!! I am so proud of everyone's journey but its hard not to compare myself to those who are dropping at a faster rate towards their goal weight. It's incredibly hard work but I know mentally I'm in a better place now and it's not a competition ya know? I'm glad your journey is going okay too! I hope you continue to have amazing results!♥️

You’re not too far behind me! I started November 13th around 261.4 and I just got to 225 today. 😭 My heaviest was 277.6 but I got to my starting weight with Metformin. So, see, you’re doing better on the medication than someone! 🥳

Yea my first month was a quick 10lbs but every since then it’s averaging about 1-2 lbs a week. Where some weeks I don’t lose at all then the next week I will lose like 3lbs.

I started at the end of November at 245 and currently 213. So averaged out to 8lbs a month. Trying to stick with it knowing losing slower is better.

You got this. Glad to see another slower loser. Sometimes seeing the fast losers are discouraging
