Wanted to show off the rig that my Dad and I have been working on for the past year or so. Triple monitors were installed recently and it’s been a game changer.

It costs €120 on ebay. I think it would look amazing with a ferrari badge on it. Thoughts?

I'm curious to find out on what track, and how far I to your SIM racing career you guys had an epiphany that improved your laptime on every track? For example, for me it was about 4 months in on Silverstone when I figured out how to trailbrake better, and it improved my laptime on most tracks by at least a second.

Rigs Just lost my friend the sim rig

This hobby has its ups and downs. Crashing out, winning can come all in the same day. The effort we put in to getting good , staying good, and getting better is one that honestly is very fulfilling. Our rigs in this process becomes our sanctuary for our racing exploits. We build, configure and expand our base to point we beam with pride even when we're not racing. My rig was like that. I got it at the tail end of great relationship. Thru my darkest times I sat in , focusing on cornering instead the pain of loneliness. I started to wake up with goals and plans to reach heights I didn't know I could get to. I'm not ashamed to say I loved my rig, dearly. Today , due financial hardship, I had to sell her. While I smile the whole conversation with a great guy who got her, my heart was breaking.. Something I leaned on so heavily to help me is going away. And that's a hard thing to accept right now. I have a quite a few more fires to put so I'll shed a few tears and keep moving. But to my fellow sim racers, it's been a pleasure. And I hope to see you out there on track again some day 🥲.

edit: spelling

Question Good but not too expensive direct drive wheels

Ive had a G29 for as long as i can remember and i want to upgrade to a nice smooth direct drive but im not sure if i should splurge on a whole setup from Fanatec or if they have some good not too expensive wheels

My main reasons are -the g29 is so loud so i cant use it at night unless i deactivate ffb -the wheel is tiny compared to a real steering wheel -its not all that good or responsive

Any ideas for what would be good for me?

Other Simagic P-HPR rig mount

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I recently experimented with mounting the P-HPR motor on my rig instead of directly on the throttle pedal. While I enjoy having it on the brake pedal for ABS simulation, I found the traction control feedback on the throttle was overwhelming under my foot. To solve this, I designed an adapter to attach the motor to my pedal plate instead. Now I can still feel the traction control and loss of grip, but in a more manageable way.

Other New to racing sim

Upvotes

Been played racing games on and off since I was little bit never really good. After hanging out with my buddy and messing around on his racing rig on iracing, got the itch. Picked up assetto corsa. Feels really good even on controller, starting to save for a wheel now!

Rigs My rig has come a long way, but today I said "what if..."

A couple of months ago, I dusted off my old OmegaGT cockpit, plugged the Logi G-something or other into the xbox, wiggled the toy plastic shifter to check for neutral, pressed the dead feeling Logi noodle pedals, and got an idea in my head: "maybe I should build a pc and get off this console". So in the last six to eight weeks, I've ended up building a new PC with a 9070XT gpu, 32gb ram, and an AMD Ryzen 7 cpu. I bought a 34" widescreen OLED. A week later, two 27" IPS monitors to go on either side, and some mounts. I 3d-printed some mods to make the old shifter feel better, but those kept snapping. I bought some new Logi Pro pedals, which feel pretty good. Then I went to Microcenter intending to maybe look at an open-box Moza bundle. Sales guy came back from looking for it and told me the base was missing from the kit. I said "what else ya got that's open-box?" I now have a Moza R21 that was $594, The RS V2 wheel, and a Moza H-pattern shifter. Then I thought "wouldn't some bass shakers be cool?" I installed 4 Dayton 35w shakers and two Nobsound soundcard/amps, along with Simhub, and man, what an immersive setup this has become. Today I dug out my old soundbar setup, put the bar behind the monitor, the sub on the floor, and the rear speakers on either side of my racing seat and now immersion is even greater. But then I said "what if... what if I added wind?"

So now I'm looking at how I might add wind to the rig. I've thought of designing/printing some vents like those in the dash of my car, but beyond that, I haven't delved too deeply into how to get started with a virtual wind setup. I mostly drive an MX-5 in AC and enjoy the air circulation I get in my real-life '19 Miata, so it'd be cool to feel air moving around while in the rig.

Rigs BDH is built differently

When they emphasized the role of customer service in a video interview, I didn't understand how committed they were or how far they are willing to go. Here's the recap of what happened to me in the past couple of months..

(Feb 11) My BDH (H1 model) shifter started acting up in DR2.0. I panicked and tried to troubleshoot, but couldn't find the issue

(Feb 12) I figured out that it was the micro switch for 3rd gear that will be pressed, but it didn't release which confused the game. Reached out to BDH. Honestly, I wasn't too hopeful because I knew they released a new product (H1SQ)..

(Feb 13) I hear back from Dave himself and reassuring me that they will help me get thru this. Suggested contact cleaner as in an interim solution to fix the sticky switch and told me that they are in the final stage of testing hall effect sensor upgrade for H1!!

(Mar 25) BDH received the final part for the upgrade kit and were ready to ship!!

(Mar 27) I received the kit within 2 days!!!

Now I was a bit nervous to take the shifter apart because I thought I may brick it. I've tackled a few little house projects (replacing garbage disposal most recently), but I'm not that handy.

(Apr 6) I decided to go for it. Dave was willing to walk me through the process which would've been so cool, but the kit looked like it made sense. It took about 20 minutes to take out the old parts and another 15 minutes to put the new one in place. It was a breeze to set it up in the game. Plug and play for DR2.0/EA WRC/RBR (no z-axis issue either!!)

I was ecstatic!!

I was also very impressed with Dave and his team. This really is another level of customer service that I've experienced. Dave said "It was always something we wished to upgrade at some point" and "We will always support our customers and our products".

I've heard that sort of comments from many companies, but this is the first time I've experienced this in firsthand.

BDH's parts maybe be good/high end, their customer service is the top tier and that's what makes them different.

It was just too neat for me to not share with the community. Thanks Dave!!

Rigs Thinking about gettin SimLab P1X Pro. Opinions?

I currently have a Next Level Racing F-GT which is really solid, no movements at all with my wheel (Sim Magic Alpha Mini). But well...it doesn' look that good at all, the seat is not comfortable and the integrated monitor stand is really meh, too far from my face and no chance of moving it closer. I know that I can buy and assemble normal aluminium profiles and save some money getting almost the same result but they look really ugly so big no no for me (might sound stupid but I like my cockpit to look good not only be solid). Any1 has the P1X Pro? Is it good? I've seen many reviews on YouTube and they all say it's great. Suggested alternatives? Keep in mind I live in central Europe so no US/Canada/Australia sellers

Thx in advance

Question Inquiry about Official Moza Racing Website

Upvotes

So I have been currently thinking about buying a Moza R3 bundle from the official Moza site with my increasing love for sim racing, but due to the stupid markups of almost 150% here in my country, but I am hesitant as I have seen numerous reviews on trustpilot complaining about how their products are not getting delivered or that the customer support is just pure shit, so for people who have ordered from the official moza racing website, how was your experience, I need some fresh insight on the website due to how the moza r3 barely fits into my student budget and I can't afford getting scammed or losing anything currently.

Finally built an 8020 rig and looking to get rid of this custom built one. What sort of price is reasonable to sell it for? Or is it even worth selling. It's very rigid, little flex at 8nm force. Thanks

Question Looking for info on Triple 45’ monitor setup

Hi there!

I’m looking at putting together a rig using triple 45 inch curved LG monitors. I’m just looking for some info on sizing and dimensions of a full rig using these screens? If anyone has done something similar, I’m looking for the full length and width dimensions of the rig to see if I can fit it in the space I’m looking at, before pulling the trigger on these monitors.

Thanks!
