So I stumbled upon this picture going to pay my water bill at city hall, and did a double take when I saw some M1917 looking vehicles in this military parade. One of the archivists there was impressed I knew what the tanks were and they said the parade took place somewhere between 1918 and 1921. Check you town's history folks, you might see some cool gems like this.

Seems a little careless to have them completely unguarded and have some random guy be able to enter, considering those vehicles coulde be sent to Ukraine in case of a new batch donated, but who knows.

In history, the victorious Allies reformed the defeated Axis nations in their own image when it concerned their armed forces – discarded whatever was left from their arsenal and replaced them with their own goods depending on what side of the Iron Curtain they fell on.Â
I thought this would be a fun thought experiment. Let’s say that you were tasked with reforming the ex-Axis armed forces, but weren’t allowed to hand over Allied surplus material to do so – you had to make do with whatever was available, whether they were rank-and-file vehicles or zany prototypes (let’s assume that you could mass produce these ones, at least at a sufficient level for defense).Â
---
Which existing Axis tanks would be optimal for these nations during the early Cold War period, which was odd overall as newer innovations and existing technologies clashed in places like Korea? The focus will be on the big three countries: Japan, Germany (West and East), and Italy.
As a counterpoint that could be argued, are all Axis tanks insufficient for the early Cold War period? Would they just be better scrapped and used to purchase Allied surplus?

Found pictures and a video of a bulgarian T-55 but I dont understand what variant it is. Judging by the laser range finder and side skirts I think it is some sort of late modernisation but I am not sure.

The BMP-1TS - both with the Spys and Sich RWS modules - is equipped with a 30mm ZTM-1 cannon, 7,62 machine gun, 30mm automatic grenade launcher and ATGMs. - though the latter is often missing in the field.
It has thermal imaging and automatic target tracking capabilities, along with a laser rangefinder.
The upgrade package doesn't modify the hull and protection, which is a significant drawback of the BMP-1.
