This is the most "China" thing I've ever seen

There's an island off the coast of Bali called Nusa Penida. It's home to the famous "T-Rex" beach at Kelingking. The hike down to the beach is pretty tough. But, rather than make the steps down a bit better, the Chinese are installing a huge glass elevator there, which will just be hugely detrimental to one of the most beautiful beaches on earth. https://thebalisun.com/work-begins-on-controversial-cliffside-elevator-in-balis-nusa-penida/

the Chinese

Thats just stirring Sinophobia, they are building it, but the indonesian state approved it, the builders are not to blame.

The Chinese builders? Who are installing it? Just want to clarify that you're arguing about me saying that the Chinese are building it while also saying that, in fact, the Chinese are building it?

I'm saying the way you phrased your comment reads like you are blaming China, or at least trying to portray them as being at fault for the elevator being built, as you are clearly portraying it as a bad thing, and have only mentioned one country as involved.

Chinese workers are building it for a Chinese investment company that is working in partnership with an Indonesian company. You can try and pretend that the Chinese are just some kind of innocent workers here with no interest beyond doing their jobs, but you're just straight up lying.

How is Sihanoukville in Cambodia looking following the Chinese investment? Oh, and who was developing that building that collapsed in Bangkok last week?

The fact is, I've been to China (Bangkok) and I thought the people were lovely, so if you want to call this "sinophobia" that's up to you. I know it's not true and I'm not too concerned if you're going to get so easily offended.

But you denying their predatory building investments in poor countries would be like me saying that the British Empire were a lovely bunch of lads. Take your propaganda and grow the fuck up.

If I was your neighbour and I hired someone to build a shed, but it was on your lawn, would you say thats the builder's fault?

In this instance, as in the real world example, the builder has no responsibility to stick to any codes

A chinese investment company was working in partnership with an Indonesian company. So your analogy is pretty stupid, as in this case it would be if my neighbour and someone else decided to build this shed and then the other person sent in the builders to do the work, showing that they were the driving force behind it. You and that other guy trying to act as though it's just some innocent Chinese workers being sent over there with no idea what they are doing is ridiculous. Maybe try doing a bit of research into it before you come up with such a broken analogy?
