Interested in USF Management Masters Program, Focus in HR

Upvotes

Hi! I am interested in USF's HR Masters program. Anyone have any insight into the program, if you are currently enrolled or have done in the past.

A little on me, I've worked at USF for going on 10 years. Worked with some HR in managing some staff as well as payroll, things of that sort. I like to think I'm a good fit for HR. I currently work at USF so I would be taking advantage of the USF tuition waiver but want to be sure. I have looked at the courses and they seem pretty interesting. Have taken a bunch of Linkedin learning trainings and some at USF as well. Just wanted to get a feel of USF's program or will look into other programs. Ultimately just wanting to make a change from my usual admin jobs and want to really make a difference in putting the "human" back in human resources. I have bought a HR book, with the hope of getting the apHR (associate professional in HR) this summer.

Any feedback would be great! Wanting to start with the "MAN 6448 Negotiating Agreement and Resolving Conflict" course.

Looking to sublease my room (The Oaks of Woodland Park)

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I’m looking to sublease my room in a 2x2 apartment in the summer (June 9 - Aug 1, but we can discuss the dates more). I will be in Boca Raton for my internship so I won’t be in town.

Rent is usually around $1,000/month (utilities included) but I am asking for $800. I will cover all utilities. All furnitures are included as showed in the pictures.

I know it will be a short lease, but DM me if you are interested (here or my IG @longnguyeexn). My roommate is also moving out so if you would like to stay long-term, DM me as well. I do not have photos of his room, though.

cheap books

I'm an incoming freshman. Where do you guys find the CHEAPEST course materials? Is it possible to borrow them from the library or use PDFs available online? Can I find second hand books for cheap? I have never really bought textbooks so I'm really stingy about them. More so for college, because why would I want to buy a book for 4 months you know...

What do I do?

If all goes well with my scholarships and I have enough money go do so, I’ll be transferring to USF Tampa in the Fall as a junior. My question is how do I know if I’m ready to transfer?

So I’m insanely busy, so scheduling an appointment (whether online or in person) is difficult. I want to be able to send an email to an advisor/counselor to look over my stuff and make sure I’ve fully done everything in order to register for classes and choose a dorm. Also in past experiences at my school, I’ve had advisors/councilors not reply at all to my emails, which is annoying because I need answers now. Idk who to email that will be able to answer all of these questions.

Additionally, I applied to the USF Sarasota campus to do my sophomore year there, but they had lost my transcript and I wasn’t notified of an acceptance till 2 weeks before classes. I decided to stay at my current school because I wasn’t prepared. Anyways, I applied to change the campus, start semester, and major, but they never changed my major. Rn I’m getting a bunch of scholarship applications for my old major on the USF Foundation instead of my new major. How do I change that because I’m probably not going to get many scholarships as most of them I’m applying to scholarships for my old major.

I’m feeling so much pressure from it being the end of the semester to get everything done now, so I’m feeling completely lost. Can someone please help me.

Diversity at USF?

Upvotes

Hello! I did make a post earlier but my wording was pretty bad so I thought I’d try again, I know this is a pretty vague question so my apologies, but I’m from Pa and I recently got accepted to USF! I’m not too worried about academics, but my main concern is the diversity and wether or not it’s LGBT+ friendly, where I am currently most of the people at my school are very cliquey and snobby, and there’s not a lot of variety in terms of the people here, and I’m worried that USF might be like that, again my apologies for the poor wording but I guess what I’m trying to say is would you say USF for the most part is a welcoming campus and somewhat easy to make friends? Or are the people pretty stand offish and cliquey. Thank you!

Thoughts on USF business? As an international student 🇧🇷

Hello I got accepted into USF business starting next fall and I would like to know about the USF business major prestige and opportunities in both usa and Brazil (in case I prefer to come back after 4 years)? Initially i was going to choose university of Florida, but they just discontinued the lac scholarship (allowed Latin Caribbean students to pay in state tuition) and since I got this at usf thinking of choosing it .

Be welcome to leave your thoughts and suggestions for me, I would be very grateful

Racism on Campus

Hi guys, so just now what happened to me was really a fever dream but I need to tell everyone on campus to stay more vigilant at night.

Crossed Holly Drive just now from the Hub and a black sedan did not yield and stopped right across the walkway. Luckily I did notice and did not cross. Driver (early 20s, I shall not identify details any further for privacy), lowered the window and literally shouted out the C-word (for Asians) in the most disrespectful manner a few times for a solid minute to intimidate me. Others were laughing inside. Personally, since ethnically I am not Chinese so I was only baffled. They sped away after seeing I had no reaction. Welp, I did say “**** off” in return. Yeah that was the interaction.

Not gonna lie, they look like students from here.

Unfortunately I have no battery on phone to take a photo (and I don’t want to because I do not want to escalate against a bunch of dudes who might be under the influence).

This is my first bad interaction on campus, in the most fever dream-ish way. So yeah, Bulls, stay safe and vigilant at night, you really don’t know how people act.

For mods, I have no images for proof, but this being the most weird interaction and there was noone else nearby, I hope you can believe this is true… This is more of an awareness post for everyone.

T4R.

Hello again! I'm selling this RTX 3070 8GB for $300 (originally $500). Still works perfectly, I just don't need it anymore because I bought a new laptop. I wiped off most of the dust but there's still a bit on the fans.
