Admitting he was wrong counts for something, though.

That follow-up barely counts for anything when it's used as an opportunity to humblebrag ("I'm a man on honor") and backtrack ("well ackshually Trump 2.0 is very different, other than that I was totally right, you know! ☝️🤓"). Nowadays I am finding it increasingly difficult to be forgiving of people who believe, trust, and worship Trump, especially after the decades of Trump proving himself to be an evil charlatan.

Have fun in the social climate you're building.

Which is what? Resistance to people who want to harm others? A society where we hold people to account?

Being vindictive will make people dig in their heels. This is a big part of prison reform, I.E when you treat people like criminals, they act like criminals. If you're unable to forgive those who you have scorned or disagreed with in the past, what incentive do they have to try and rejoin society and maintain the social contract?

We gotta gentle parent the very people who trash on kindness, compassion, empathy, and anything Jesus said?

Like giving medical help to people who chose to hate medical professionals and vaccines and ate horse paste until they were dying in a hospital room.

Darwin Awards/Herman Cain Awards sometimes need to be awarded lest people forget the lesson.

With respect, I'm not intending to be vindictive. There just comes a point when we need to actively defend society, our way of life, and our families from the MAGA movement. Sure, some of them are well meaning and willing to learn if shown kindness, but a lot of them are deliberately cruel and destructive. I wholeheartedly believe in prison reform, to use your analogy, but even in prisons there are people who need to be treated with more caution than your average inmate who just made some poor decisions in life.
