Figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for posting signs from Hardesty Park's Hands Off Protest yesterday. I think everyone who went knows there were a ton of good ones! Here's mine, what did you all bring?

Any reason there's no posts here about the HANDS OFF protests in Akron yesterday?

New Candy Store Downtown

I took my son to Full Grip Games today to buy a gift for a birthday party. We were pleasantly surprised to see they have now also opened a candy store next door to the game store. Just wanted to share and spread the word.

Is the Akron municipality income tax return e-file not working for anyone else?

Just shows up blank not able to enter any information or even upload any files. Was trying to file everything this weekend but the local taxes have been such a pain. I can call on Monday or mail in but was wondering if anyone had experience using the e-filing website. (akronohio.gov/efile)

Riddle me this.. Riddle me that....

Most of people who live in the East side can see me easily. I stand tall, I got a paint job from 2 colors to a solid color. I'm old and I carry a precious resource inside me. What am I?

Mulch options

I’ve gotten one quote for a 1/2 acre property for $1100 and $700 for a city lot ($85/yard) —just for the mulch, delivery and laying it down. Beds have already been edged and cleared out. This seems rather high—any recs? Or is this on par??

I hate this exit off 224 onto Kelly Ave. People don't read and they stop and sit here backing up off ramp traffic

It doesn't happen often but the past two days I have been stuck behind some dope sitting there trying to figure out when they can go lol I had to vent because it just pisses me off. I feel like the yellow sign needs some flashing lights or something so people will read it.

You could see through me while looking down, I was taken down a time ago but I used to stretch across a landmark with a waterfall you could walk behind. What am I?

Evening Volunteer Opportunities

I'm newer to the Akron area and looking for volunteering opportunities I can do once or twice a month in the evenings after work to get involved in the community. The earliest start time I could do is 5pm during the week. I'm struggling to find something on a consistent basis in the evenings. I could do some Saturdays. I found a few one-time opportunities through Summit Metroparks that sound interesting, but I'd love something I could sign up for routinely. Does anyone have any ideas?

From the story:

The Akron History Center, which celebrates the city’s 200-year history, opens Saturday, April 5.

The $2.2-million history center spans three floors and includes more than 60 exhibits and 100 historic artifacts. Video screens tell stories of the city’s people, businesses and places.

Museum admission is free. It’s located at 172 S. Main St.

The center is housed in a building that is more than a century old and still features original floors, according to David Lieberth, president of the non-profit corporation that raised the funds to create the center’s exhibits. The building initially housed a meat market beginning in 1909.

Exciting date ideas?

I want to surprise my fiance (33M) with a fun date, but I don’t really have any ideas. He likes active and exciting things. I found a trampoline park that has a bunch of stuff I think he’d really like, but I want a back up plan also! We’re somewhat new to the Akron area (originally from Cleveland) so I’m open to any suggestions! Willing to drive an hour or so. Thanks in advance!

Help me convince my wife to move to the Northeast Ohio area

My wife and I are looking at moving to either Southwest Ohio near Dayton or Northeast Ohio near Akron. Her family is from Dayton and mine is from Akron. I am really really wanting to move to one of the suburbs around Akron but my wife very much wants to move to closer to her family.

What are some places to see/things to go do that could help her fall in love with the general Northeast Ohio area? I really want her to see why it is a great area, but not so sure where to start.

Edit: Thanks for all the great insights. Hopefully I'll be saved from the purgatory that is southwest Ohio!
