Mourning My void is dying and I’m sad

Post image

Just that. She’s fifteen, has cancer, I’ve had her for thirteen years and I’m devastated. I wanted to share her with everyone, as she’s brought me so much joy and I’m going to miss her terribly. I started palliative care this week, and she just took a turn for the worse. Her name is Mortimer. It’s cheesy, but she’s my best friend.

It’s a few year old, but that’s my favorite picture of her.

In the quiet corners of our lives, there are companions who fill the spaces with their gentle presence. Your dear void has been a silent guardian, a little shadow who walked with you through the years, offering love without words. At 15 years old, she’s been a witness to so many moments, a comfort in times both good and bad. Though her body is tired and the time has come to say goodbye, her spirit will always linger in the places she loved and in the hearts she’s touched. She’s more than just a cat; she’s a piece of the love and memories that will stay with you forever. May her journey be peaceful, and may you find comfort in knowing she felt your love every step of the way.

I’ve never gotten so emotional reading a comment from a stranger on the internet. I’m crying. Thank you.

My void is only four and I fully had a meltdown at the idea of this being my future.

My void is 9 and I just hugged him tight. I have another one, a cowcat, that just turned 10 that was diagnosed with IBD earlier this year that I was terrified I was going to lose. They're so fragile and time with them is so fleeting. ❤

I took my 9yo cat for booster shots this week and the vet tech asking if I wanted to run senior bloodwork for her. Like, she does kickflips in the hallway when she thinks I'm not looking, what do you mean my baby is old?! 😭

My void isn't even 1 yet. I'm heading home to hug him now.

I’m devastated at the thought of losing her, but she’s made me so happy for so many years. No amount of pain I’m feeling right now will ever stop me from absolutely cherishing the life I had with her 🖤. Give your void a big hug for me.

Don’t focus on “what ifs” with your sweet void. You have him/her now- don’t miss out on the precious moments you can have ❤️

My baby Miranda has kitty titty cancer, and it’s too far gone all over to mitigate - I feel your pain. I bought a car seat and a bubble backpack and a cat stroller and basically plan on taking her EVERYWHERE and giving her everything she wants. All Mortimer wants is to be with you, her world.

I’m so sorry. My void Batty is 11 and he is my best friend. I try to give him more attention but with 4 other cats it can be hard. I cherish our mornings together when my alarm goes off and he comes and lays down on my pillow next to me so we can spoon. I love him so much.

Edit: I saw this saying somewhere a few months ago and it has stuck with me hard… OUR CATS ARE A SMALL PART OF OUR LIVES, BUT TO OUR CATS, WE ARE THEIR WHOLE LIFE. WE ARE EVERYTHING TO THEM.

I believe this but my cats are an abnormally large part of my life. My 12 year old void, who I recently adopted, is in my lap now, purring and drooling on me

I just want to add, I lost my void in 2017 to cancer. She was with me through my formative years, I had her from jr high thru getting married. She was my best friend and I definitely still think about her regularly. Thinking of your cat as your best friend is not strange at all. I'm sorry you are going through this. Cancer sucks.
