I'm in Texas. We, unfortunately, have a lot of exotic breeders. The rescue believed it was one particular breeder. One of the vets of a different rescue (where we got another cat) rescued Bengals. She's been helping us with behavioral issues. A lot of it comes down to her just being wild.
Xena Warrior Kitty was given-up by owners who lied about her age. She was young. She's still very small but fully developed.
Do they know this exotic breeder actually owns a black footed cat? Even if they do, BFC hybrids would be worth a ton of money and not something likely to be surrendered to a rescue.
The owners didn't breed her but didn't get her spayed. I think they were going to "breed" her before they marked all over their house. Any Bengal is expensive, but I can't imagine the price of Xena.
The "breeder" is well-known. They even advertised their "new African Black Footed cats" last year and then babies currently. The ads run on local TV. 😔
Also, one of our state politicians who breeds animals to hunt, introduced a bill that will probably pass in September. It's to eliminate Texas Parks and Wildlife. It's going to get worse.
