I once gotten accused of starving my cat because everyone is so used to seeing overweight to obese cats.
But my boy tho? He is a fine boy, but damn do he be long like a slinky (my boy weighs 13lbs, eats 1cup food per day and is 3ft long in length due to the length of his actual tail) - he is a very healthy weight and eats food on a routine too
My twin sister has a Bichon Frisé poodle named Taffy from the shelter. We call her floof and when we really need her floofers! I call my sister Swoopy and she calls me Boopy! Pet names aren't just for people lol I never thought I would read your comment with those names❤️
Mine used to be like this but they’re fatter now. They have a way of conditioning me to give them too many treats. I’ve recently switched them (I have two cats) from 1 can (3 oz) per day to half a can per day. Before I was giving them 1/2 can each in the morning and half a can each in the evening. But they had a bowl of dry kibble out all day as well.
So adding treats on top of that proved too much to maintain their weight. They were gradually getting fatter. My big boy, like yours, can handle the added weight, but my other cat is smaller and it’s too much for her, I know.
So now I’ve switched to half the wet food just once per day and I’ve stopped leaving kibble out all day. I give them kibble in the morning and the wet food at dinner.
Yeah my girl (turning 18 this year) is very small, and hovers around 5.5-6lbs. You can feel her ribs and spine definition but she's a very healthy old lady! Her mom was my brother's cat who probably never weighed more than 4lbs either, even being free fed. Obviously these are cats with small builds as well; one of my other cats is more normal cat sized and a slim but healthy 9.5lbs. I don't have the reddit app or I'd share pics! Your boy is very handsome.
Tbh? I genuinely don’t know other than people just trying to start drama for the sole purpose of starting drama (genuinely had me scratching my head) - tho I guess if someone truly is just that used to being around fat or even obese cats? A healthy sized cat to them could look “starved” even when thats further from the truth

Check from above when he’s standing - he should have a defined waist. You should also he able to feel his ribs with pretty light pressure.
