To the dweeb driving a BMW who hit me, it’s going to cost a pretty penny!

A kid driving a BMW on the shoulder of the road hit me while I was driving into the parking lot of my job. He called his mom to show up since he’s under mommy’s insurance policy. Hope he learned his lesson. I just bought her a couple months ago, 2025 sport 7k miles and it’s going to take a couple weeks of repair. Already miss her 💔.

New Purchase 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sport Touring Impression

Post image
Upvotes

I brought home a new Hybrid Sport Touring about a month ago and had a chance to drive it on a road trip from the Bay area in California to the jungles of upstate New York. I got a lot of good insights from the subreddit prior to purchasing, so I thought I'd give back by providing my two cents, the 😍, 🤔, and 😑.

Before I dig in, here are some numbers:

  • OOD Price Excluding Trade-In: $30,950
  • Start odometer (off the lot): 4
  • End odometer: 4785
  • Total gas consumed: 88.916
  • Calculated lifetime MPG: 53.8

And a few notes to go with that,

  • You read the $$$ right. We shopped around and got a really good deal. Lesson is to just walk if you don't like anything the dealer is offering
  • We used Costco almost exclusively throughout the trip, so the total gas consumed is down to the 1000th and should be very accurate
  • Driving condition
    • Mostly highway driving, I'd say 70-80% highway and 25% city
    • The first 1000 or so miles were driven along the coast of California at around 55-65MPH. I noticed that the gas mileage of this car below 60MPH was incredible, could easily hit 60MPG, record was 73MPG

The Good 😍

Ride - under 65MPH, this car feels luxurious. The drive train is silky smooth most of the time, the ride feels firm and sporty but not punishingly so, unlike the sport version of the older Civic.

Gas mileage - need I say more?

Space - the car is incredibly spacious, both for passengers and for cargo. I am a bit bias, but I feel that Honda does interior packaging the best out of all of the brands, and this Civic does not deviate from that.

Bipolar - if you put this car in econ mode, you get great gas mileage, which is expected. What I didn't expect was when putting this car in sport mode. The thing MOVES, thanks to the electric motor.

The Mhmmm 🤔

Speed - anytime you have to move this car above 65MPH, the economy side of this car starts to show. All the noise, from the road, from other cars, from the wind, from the engine, start to seep into the cabin. I heard that the windshield and front windows are acoustic windows, but honestly, having test driven this side-by-side with the regular Sport hybrid, I couldn't tell. Maybe they only block out specific frequencies.

Seats - the seats are okay at best, not particularly soft. Some extra padding and bolstering under the butt and behind the backs would have made this 10/10.

Hood - feels quite light and flimsy. This is my 5th branch new Honda. First time seeing the hood almost flailing when going through the wind tunnel in a car wash. It also feels extra light when I'm lifting it.

Infotainment - the screen is quite far forward and does not face the driver, which makes it hard to look at part of the screen from the corner of my eye sometimes. I wish Honda had tilted the screen toward the driver a little.

Powertrain - Being part EV, part 1-gear gas car, this car has some quirks when put in extreme situations. When I was driving on I70 through the Rockies, this car struggled hard on some of the climbs. The 1KW/hr battery doesn't hold a lot of charge, so it gets depleted quickly while climbing some of the hills, and you end up having to floor the car to get the engine screaming on the the ascend while feeling like the car might not make it to the top - an early Prius moment. And the engine doesn't only scream during ascend. When going down long hills, after the hybrid battery gets filled and you use the brake paddles, it sounds like the engine is used to slow down the car as well. Overall though, I have to say that the powertrain operates seemlessly.

The UGH 😑

Software - there are some bugs in the infotainment system that's been annoying. The power flow gauge randomly gets stuck. I've learned to force shut the app and restart to get around it, but it's annoying nevertheless. The wired Apple CarPlay connectivity is also finncky. Intrestingly, wireless CarPlay had been super reliable, so I did away with the wires - though this is not my preference.

Wipers - it has a service mode. Why...

Conclusion

There are a few more nitpicks I have with the car that I won't share here. Overall I think it's a great car with good value - a little pricey at MSRP, and definitely too much if you have to pay for markup.

Manual civics

I lowkey wish someone in my family drove or taught me how to drive stick because I’ve been looking to buy a new civic and the manuals are always cheaper than the automatics 😭 like some new ones are like $1K - $2K cheaper than a new auto 😔 but fr if you know how to drive stick, you basically get an automatic* (pun) discount

Advice Request 2025 civic ST $33.5k

Post image

How do you guys think this deal is? This is what I got off the website. I'm hoping to be able to get 1.5-2.5k off further down on this price. Not sure if they'd do that given the tariffs are coming and civic is a hot selling car.

Also, can I get the protection package removed? I've seen some dealers mandate it, stating that these tint, guards, etc are already on the vehicle and cannot be taken out and hence I'd have to pay for it. Has anyone been able to do it successfully and if so, how would you approach that?

Thanks

Any thoughts? I’ve heard some other people complaining about this too. I only hear it inside the car at idle. The engine bay is quiet, but it’s driving me crazy

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Maintenance Minder

Hi, i have a 2025 civic hybrid bought late last year (nov)

Loving it so far and currently at 6600km and oil life is at 60%. I was confused that “A” popped up in the display this morning. I called local dealer and they told me changing oil is not required until 15% oil quality.

Also curious why it only displayed “A” which is replace engine oil and not “A1” which includes filter. Those usually go hand in hand.

Any insights are welcome.

Honda really killed it with the styling of this generation.

So far I've :

  • De-badged most of the rear badges
  • Blacked out the front Honda logo
  • Installed the HPD front underbody splitter
  • Added Geoshield ceramic tints - 50% front windshield, 35% front and back side windows, 20% rear window
  • Added 20mm Bono's Spacers to front and rear tires
  • Added Mikstore Shift Knob Replacement V2

Advice Request Wing install advice

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey y’all, So I grabbed a wing off Facebook Marketplace the other day. Got it for a steal but I don’t even know the brand so… Pretty decent condition, but it didn’t come with any hardware, weather seals, or a drilling template. It does have some double-sided tape already on the bottom, though.

I’m torn on whether I should just send it with the tape or try to drill it in properly, even though I don’t have a template and don’t wanna mess up the trunk. Anyone been in the same boat? Is the tape strong enough for daily driving, or should I figure out a way to mount it more securely?

Appreciate any tips or experience you’ve got!

Stereo keeps rebooting

Upvotes

I have a 2024 honda civic. My car stereo just keeps resetting over and over. It will stay on for like 30’seconds tops, then the Honda logo shows up as if it’s being restarted again. It does this on the radio, connected to bluetooth. I tried to factory reset and it’s still doing it. Even when I turn the audio off, the H logo keeps popping up as if I’m turning it off and on. What could this be?

Advice Request Electrical issues with my Civic 2013 DX (canadian)

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I have a 2013 Honda Civic DX (I'm in Canada if it makes a difference) and I've been dealing with this issue for a few months now without any progress on diagnosing it. I've been having an intermittent red battery light that would come on and off while driving on the highway. At certain speed, it seemed to trigger it but if I slowed down it would eventually turn off. So I've plugged my multimeter to my cigarette lighter to have an idea of what was going voltage wise and it confirmed that there was a link between my red battery light and the speed.

Every time my car would go over 100km/h, the voltage would drop substantially from the regular 14.3 ish and keep dropping as if I was only on battery. At some point it kept dropping until it reached 9.5V and many lights on the dashboard turned on and I had to slow down so the voltage would go back up. If I went under that speed, the voltage would go back to 14.3V ish. And sometimes, like in the video, I gave some gas and the voltage went back up and the light turned off.

At first I thought it was the alternator or the battery but they were both replaced less than 2 years ago and 3 years ago and they seemed fine based on a tester I bought on Amazon. Since it's mostly at a specific speed range that I get that issue, I was thinking it could have been an ELD or a ECM module that has a problem and that's where I currently am.

I'm kinda running out of ideas and I would really appreciate any help.

Thank you Civic brothers and sisters for reading my plea for help.

Charging and car play?

Hi everyone! I just got my brand new 2025 Honda civic hatchback sport and the only thing that stinks is you can only use Apple car play or charge your phone but they can’t do both at the same time. Does anyone have anything they recommend to either bypass that or what the best option would be? Thank you!

2005 Honda civic engine revving issue

Hello, I recently swap my 2005 Honda civic engine and now whenever I start my car it revs crazy while idle. I don’t give it any gas or anything it just starts revving crazily. At first I thought there was something wrong with the throttle body, so I switched the throttle body for one off my old engine. But sadly it’s still revving while idle. Any advice on how to fix this issue.

It’s a 1.7 litre engine dohc 4 door sedan. I switched from a blown 1.7 litre to another 1.7 litre.

2025 Civic Sport stock stereo replacement options?

I had a sound system put in a few months ago by a local speaker shop and for the most part it's great. I'm looking to swap out the stereo/receiver without cutting into the dashboard or doing any other custom work to the interior. The speaker shop said there is only one option, which is a Pioneer. They didn't give me the model number and I want to do some research for myself as far as cost and other options if available. How can I go about finding the right information I'm looking for?

First time posting here, hoping for some guidance on wheel bearings.

Which rear wheel bearing would you recommend for my 2020 Honda Civic EX: the Timken HA590769 or the MOOG 512570?

I'm trying to decide between these two. Maybe I am overthinking this, but I live in an area with harsh road conditions, so I'm leaning towards better protection against potholes and uneven roads, but I also want something that will last. Any thoughts?

Has anyone had experience with either of these brands on a Civic? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Where I plan on sourcing them, RockAuto.com

Why dash read 320 when max is 220

Post image

Friends new civic maxes out at 220km/h so why have they made the dash go up to 320km/h or is it a feature you can change through the entertainment system since it’s more annoying to follow speed limits like this.

Sound System

Does anyone know the company/exact sound system found in the 2017 Honda Civic Touring? All I’m finding is just “premium audio system” 😅
