People meme alot on the sword but I've found that tanking, the sword is better than the axe. The issue with the axe is its speed. Tanking SM level appropriate is a nightmare, its parry, parry, miss, dodge, glance. Its not pretty. The swords speed makes your rage gain the perfect speed aswell as sword spec + windfury can be a pretty combo for rage.

Overall sword just feels right even tho numbers show axe does the biggest damage but the axe speed is so terrible for tanking. Outside your charge - > sweeping strikes - > berserker rage - > whirlwind combo, you sorta just sit there for 3.6 SECONDS hoping that you dont get parried. The thing about threat is that, you dont need ALL of it, you just need to be over the second guy, regardless if your weapon was a 0.8 speed or a 8.0 speed, as a warrior that opener will give you the lead you need, now you just need to tap target and thats where the axe is just horrible imo.

That all being said.. Axe go zug zug

Nah sorry the axe is better for tanking. Doing more dmg w whirlwind sweeping cleave is way better than getting one or two more autos off

The damage is minimal compared to the flexibility of the sword though

The ability to tap target n hit them for enough threat. Say the sword hits for maybe 200 threat and the axe his for 230 threat. But it's slower. A tank only cares about having more threat, doesn't need to have more than just most. It gives you more control being able to use your auto attacks more instead of having to wait so long.
