Question Revamping this idea-Want Suggestions

These images were part of an old worldbuilding project based around stained glass and glass in general. All of the magic in this world was based around glass (i really enjoy painting glass). I didn't get too far as you can tell but I'd love some ideas or feedback on how I could revamp this!

This is a design for the monks of my world! Their lives are dedicated to herding and watching over creatures called Eyes and they tend to the trees/land where voids in the veil form. As well as normal monk stuff like praying and meditation. None of this is really finalized yet but I've got a pretty good idea. For this image I'm trying to get comfortable sketching and rough rendering in grayscale before starting to add color and really going ham with the details so this look better once I start that process!

Half human, half nixia, Brizel is a teacher who teaches magic by speaking to animals, transforming herself and making life flourish. With a simple human form and an amphibious form inspired by axolotls.

Question Help Choose Best Shape. Mecha Dragon with Wings of Shields

I constantly struggle with finding silhouettes, I don’t know how to do it more efficient or how to decide which ones to approve, where to stop.

This is a mecha that normally walks upright but has gone down on all fours. In its rear section, there's a cabin for medical procedures & transport. Its “wings” (there are two) are made of 2–3 plates on articulated mounts, designed for one-time protection against bombardment from above & simpler side shielding.

In this frame, the robot is around 7–8 meters tall (about 22–25 feet).

I also wanted to give it a tail, but there’s little functional reason for it, & it’s hard to integrate into the design.

Question How to do mecha?

I’m trying to make a mecha skin for Reinhardt based on Gurren Lagann and there’s so many details on this mecha that it’s making my head spin.

I’m looking at the official art book character turnarounds and it’s so much.

I guess my question is can I simplify the shapes even more or make it easier for myself? Or is that cheating?

I know our job is to make it easy for 3d artists to replicate our art in a 3d space so I feel like I should be super detailed?

I might just drop the idea altogether but isn’t that like the job I want?

Also am I supposed to spend a long time on concept art or should it be quickly put out?

Sorry if this is a lot but I feel like I’ve hit a small wall on my art journey. Any advice would be helpful!

It's an illustration of one of my characters. I even created a short paragraph explaining who he is and what he does.

Working on a concept of plant themed knight. Any feedback appreciated! Could be thought of as if it's for a Dark Souls game - but everything is made of plants.
