It's the same game, but women aren't competitive at the upper levels. So we segragrate the league's so that women who want to play competitively in tournaments can. Just like with basketball, football, most sports
Thanks for clarifying! When you say it's segregated "for a reason" it really sounds a lot like you have a definite answer to why you think it's segregated, and one might assume you're saying you think women are inherently worse at chess, hence your assumption that "she definitely is intimidated". Personally, I'd wanna fix that first message to clarify that I don't think women are inherently worse and that I think it might be social, if I were you. Otherwise, you could end up sounding like you think woman brains are inherently more delicate or weak. And that'd be a ridiculously embarrassing take to have, lmao
What would cause women to be inherently worse, do you think? Is there something in the Y chromosome that makes people good at chess? Does testosterone up your natural ability to do chess well? Or do you think that would be ridiculous and unrealistic?
The idea that there are biological differences between male and female brains that may effect things like cognitive function at pattern recognition, strategizarion etc is not ridiculous and unrealistic. We do not know for certain that that is the case, and we always need to keep in mind there are exceptions / anomalies in nature (sometimes women are born with male levels of testosterone etc). But yea, it's perfectly possible there are biological reasons women aren't competitive at the upper levels of chess

What's the difference between man chess and woman chess?
