Dyson in the Wild Greatest & Worst thing ever
Our seemingly clean floor is in actual fact teeming with huge amounts of crap. This light is amazing and also giving my wife severe anxiety. We now have to hoover multiple times each day and night to rid our filthy floor of all the invisible crud.

I have taken to setting the alarm for 2am so I can wake up and vacuum in total darkness. Dyson is ruining me!

Lol all the need is a uv head torch and you can do the walls and ceilings

I have one of those UV lights used to identify cat pee and all I can say is don't do that unless you want to be grossed out and cleaning everything for hours!

I've never vacuumed so much in my life after purchasing this. Like multiple times a day. And every time I'm like "how...?"

I own a cat. I vacuum first floor and then 2nd. 30 minutes later, on my way back I check 1st floor and I’m like : 😮🫨🫣

I have 6 kids. I vacuum and 30 minutes later there's dirt, dust, crumbs, and who knows what else on the floor.

Is there something similar available for V10s?

There is one that is compatible with V10, V11 and V15 - part 971360-01. Should be plenty floating around on ebay - check model code with seller before buying though as the V12 and Gen 5 optic head variants are not compatible.

That crap you call it is dust this will appear seconds after you have hoovered your floor.the hoover blows the dust in the air and then just settles back down on the ground.also the filter doesn't keep all the dust so the hoover is just kicking it out too It is a great thing but anyone who doesn't have the intelligence to work out what's happening will keep going round in circles and end up O.C.D The best way to clean hard floors is mop them not hoover them

You could test that theory by mopping, then running the fluffy head over it 5 minutes later.

Even mopping won't get rid of dust it will just do a better job than pushing it around with a hoover

I can vouch for this. I get it nice and clean in one direction, pat my back, only to turn back and - what the ... - where did all this dust come from!

We are big into wet mopping in the caribbean, which has been my method of choice for cleaning my expansive tile floors. However, the mopping is always preceded by a thorough vacuuming (now with my Dyson V12 Detect Slim model) using the amazing ‘Fluffy Optic’ cleaner head. I don’t lug around a bucket of dirty mop water, but change out to clean mop heads continuously. After all is said and done, I see a ton of dust particles in the closets, under furniture etc. My not so unintelligent self does not have an alternate theory unless my mops are dustier than the ambient air.

If you truly want to get rid of dust you need to vacuum seal your property and get an air filtration system and never enter your property.

Does it work with v11 or there is some electrical cable going from the vacuum to the head to make the light to turn on?

It needs power. Later Dysons have a 2-pin connector that runs down through the main shaft to powered heads. However, there are now two types of connector. The old one where the release button is in the vac body & the new where it's in the attachment, like in the OP's picture - the red button. They're not interchangeable.
idk at which models these changes occurred.1

I retrofitted this on my v10 - which might not work optimally because the head works with tge sebnsor in the body to increase/decrease speed based on the dirt type. It just runs on medium speed all the time.
So my experience may not be completely suitable.
But I find it annoying actually because it just shows me how its not picking up all the drty and also shows a lot of false positiivesm like any imperfections on the laminate floor (where there is warpage) it looks like dirt, aroiund the kitchen, water droplets look like dirt.

My v10 finally died after 6-7 years of use. It was a great vacuum. I think the motor is shot as it will activate when the trigger is pressed and makes that weird hum sound but nothing else.
I contemplated getting a new motor and fixing it but my brother in law sent me a deal of the day from Best Buy for the V11+ for like $456 with tax so I decided to get a new one. I really didn’t want to spend $400+ on a new vacuum but I also didn’t want to keep using my okd DC25 upright.
How did you go about retrofitting the uv light if you don’t mind me asking. I kind of liked the idea of it but the v11+ doesn’t have it.

It's plug and play. The optic head works on v10. I think from v15 to v10 they have the same fitment.
The v10 had a weak trigger switch that brakes which can't activate the motor. I had to disassemble the thing twice and replace the button twice. The button trigger breaks on a weak point and can't press down on the button to activate the motor.

We have 2 dogs who shed and I vacuum 2-3 times a day and every single time this motherfucking light illuminates a floor that looks like it has been gathering hair and dust for weeks😂😅 I recommend this vacuum to every person I know lol it’s my favorite purchase. Infuriating sometimes but incredible little machine

The mix of the light and the particle counter made vacuuming to a game with a score afterwords. Never thought I’d love to vacuum.

I think the light is fun. My chore of vacuuming now has turned into a video game where I try to gobble up ALL of the dust bunnies, crumb monsters, pet hair demons, etc. as humanly possible.
