There are a bunch of these in rental fleets, perhaps that's where they came from.

Rental fleets? I thought they were work fleets. But why are they selling them at about 1 year old? because they gave up on EVs? the ones i looked at, the carfax were pretty light on details about the 1 owner

It’s not unusual for rental companies to drop their vehicles after a year. When we went to Florida in January we rented with National and they had a basically new Silverado EV. If it had a tonneau cover I would have nabbed it immediately. But almost all their cars were 2023 or 2024 MY.

I huge number of what you find at Carvana will be former rental vehicles. They go to auction and used car dealers all over the country buy them up at way lower prices than they will get from the general public and they usually have pretty reliable maintenance histories.
